Nigel Dawes scored two goals in Barys Astana's 5-4 overtime win over Torpedo Novgorod in KHL action Sunday.

It was the former Hamilton Bulldog's 15th and 16th goals of the season. Dawes has been playing very well in Russia and is amongst the KHL's top goal scorers just behind the likes of Alexander Radulov, Alexander Ovechkin and Evgeny Malkin. We wouldn't be surprised if his performance to date earns him a third or fourth line job once the NHL resumes play.

He has been on fire to start the KHL season with 13 points in 17 games. Dawes may actually be making a case for a third-line job in the NHL once the lockout ends.

Nigel Dawes scored twice in Barys Astana's 3-1 win over Atlant Mytishi in KHL action Saturday.

The former Hamilton Bulldog is really lighting it up in the KHL and beat Bruins' backup goaltender Anton Khudobin twice in the contest. Former Flyer and Ranger Nikolay Zherdev, who now plays for Mytishi, was held off the scoresheet.

Former NHL winger Nigel Dawes scored Mettallurg Novokunznetsk's only goal in a 5-1 loss to Barys Astana in KHL action Saturday.

Dawes last played in the NHL in 2010 with Atlanta and Montreal. He registered an assist in 13 games. Former Habs' farmhand Dustin Boyd picked up an assist on Dawes marker. Current NHLers Nikolai Antropov and Victor Hedman did not contribute to Novokuznetsk's offence.

Nigel Dawes has reportedly agreed to terms with Barys Astana of the KHL.

He appeared in 13 NHL games in 2010-11 with Atlanta and Montreal. Dawes posted one assist and registered 12 shots over that span. He spent the majority of the year in the AHL, where he notched 41 goals and 31 assists in 66 games with the Chicago Wolves and Hamilton Bulldogs.

Nigel Dawes is leading Montreal's AHL affiliate in playoff scoring.

Despite the fact he has 18 points in 18 games, the Bulldogs trail the Houston Aeros 3-2 in the AHL Western Conference finals. Whether this performance will be enough to get Dawes back to the NHL in 2011-12 remains to be seen.

Montreal has reassigned Nigel Dawes and Andreas Engqvist to the minors.

Dawes had three shots and no points in four games with Montreal, while Engqvist skated in one contest in his recent stint with the big club. Their demotions to the minors likely means that the Canadiens are getting some players back from injury for Thursday's game against Boston, but it's uncertain who is returning at this time. Dawes registered one assist in nine games with the Atlanta Thrashers before being traded to Montreal in February. He has notched six goals and 10 points in eight contests since joining the Canadiens' AHL affiliate in Hamilton.

Playing for Hamilton, the Canadiens' AHL affiliate, Dawes scored a goal and was selected as the games' first star. It's a strong step in the right direction for the 26-year-old who wants to return to the NHL as soon as possible.

Atlanta has shipped Nigel Dawes to Montreal.

He will head to the Canadiens with defenseman Brent Sopel for prospect Ben Maxwell and a fourth-round selection. Dawes has skated in nine games with the Thrashers this season, but he has spent the majority of the year with AHL affiliate in Chicago.

Nigel Dawes has been sent back down to the AHL by the Atlanta Thrashers.

Dawes came up briefly while the Thrashers were dealing with a few ailments, but some of those bodies have returned and he is no longer needed.

Nigel Dawes is back with the Atlanta Thrashers.

Dawes was sent to AHL Chicago on January 28th. The Thrashers are apparently dealing with a flu bug, so Dawes might have been called up as an insurance policy for Thursday's game.

Several teams have sent players to the minors for the duration of the All-Star break. We wouldn't be surprised if Atlanta recalls Dawes on Monday.

Nigel Dawes has been recalled from the minors by Atlanta.

Dawes appeared in six games with the Thrashers at the beginning of the season, but he failed to score a point and posted a minus-6 rating over that span. He then found his way into the minors where he has recorded 21 goals and 36 points in 40 contests with the Chicago Wolves.
