Date:

Curtis McElhinney will be the Maple Leafs' starter on Sunday.

Toronto is getting into its second game in as many nights, so this is a logical time to start McElhinney. He has a 2-2-0 record, 3.06 GAA, and .900 save percentage in four contests this season.
Dec 10 - 1:17 PM

Curtis McElhinney allowed three goals on just 20 shots in a 4-2 loss to the Washington Capitals.

Ovechkin was too much for McElhinney tonight, scoring two on him before adding one into an empty net. McElhinney's record drops to 2-2-0 with a 3.07 goals against average and .900 save percentage.
Nov 25 - 10:12 PM

The Toronto Maple Leafs will have Curtis McElhinney in goal tonight when they play the Washington Capitals.

McElhinney is coming off a game where he made 38 saves and led his team to a 4-1 victory over the Boston Bruins. Unfortunately for the 34-year-old netminder, he has a 1-3-0 career record against the Capitals with a 4.23 goals against average and .863 save percentage in those games. Toronto's backup netminder has no business being in any fantasy lineups tonight. He has a 2-1-0 record with a 3.05 goals against average and .910 save percentage.
Nov 25 - 12:05 PM

Curtis McElhinney stopped 38 of 39 shots in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Boston Bruins.

Not a bad performance from the Leafs backup goaltender, who only allowed a goal to Frank Vatrano in the first period. McElhinney now owns a 2-1-0 record with a 3.05 goals-against-average and a .910 save percentage this season. He won't have value in any fantasy format.
Nov 12 - 12:11 AM

The Toronto Maples Leafs will have Curtis McElhinney in goal for their matchup against the Boston Bruins tonight.

The Leafs are on the second half of a back-to-back and will turn to their backup netminder. His last start was a 5-3 loss to the Kings on November 2nd. The 34-year-old goaltender has a 1-1-0 record with a 4.10 goals against average and .869 save percentage. If he continues to struggle in his backup role, it's fair to wonder if the Leafs will give Garret Sparks a chance at the backup gig considering his excellent play in the AHL.
Nov 11 - 5:19 PM

Curtis McElhinney made 23 saves on 28 shots in a 5-3 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday.

McElhinney started the second game of a back-to-back and got no help to start the game, allowing five goals in under a period and a half of play. The backup goalie now has a record of 1-1-0, with a goals-against-average of 4.10 and a save percentage of .869. He's not a viable option for most fantasy leagues.
Nov 3 - 1:31 AM

Coach Mike Babcock said Curtis McElhinney will start Thursday in Los Angeles.

He will get the nod after Frederik Andersen helped guide the Leafs to a 3-1 win over Anaheim on Wednesday. McElhinney allowed just three goals in a win Oct. 18 against the Red Wings in his only other start this season. Facing the Kings on the road isn't a terribly favorable matchup, so even DFS players looking for a cheap option in goal need to look another way.
Nov 2 - 1:37 AM

Curtis McElhinney stopped 30 of 33 shots in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Detroit Red Wings.

It's a victory for McElhinney in his first appearance of the 2017-18 regular season. The Leafs gave their backup goalie plenty of early run-support, as they went into the first intermission with a 4-1 lead and they never looked back. McElhinney doesn't have much, if any, fantasy value behind Frederik Andersen, but he can be used occasionally in spot starts.
Oct 18 - 10:48 PM

Curtis McElhinney is expected to get the start in Wednesday's game against the Detroit Red Wings.

This would be his first appearance of the 2017-18 season. McElhinney had a 6-7-0 record with a 2.85 goals-against-average and a .914 save percentage last season. He's nothing more than a backup goalie, so he won't have any fantasy value going forward.
Oct 17 - 12:28 PM

Curtis McElhinney turned aside all 14 shots he faced in Friday's 3-0 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

McElhinney was between the pipes for the first two periods. He was replaced in the third frame by Garret Sparks. McElhinney is currently the favorite to land the backup job behind Frederik Andersen. He will not have any fantasy value this year or any other year going forward.
Sep 22 - 10:42 PM

The Toronto Maple Leafs have re-signed Curtis McElhinney to a two-year contract extension worth a total of $1.7 million.

The veteran backup goalie finished the season with an 8-8-2 record, a 2.70 goals-against-average and a .917 save percentage in 2016-17. Don't expect him to carry any fantasy value going into next season. He'll serve as nothing more than Frederik Andersen's backup.
Jul 1 - 10:05 AM

Curtis McElhinney couldn't help the Maple Leafs clinch third place in the Atlantic, taking the loss on Sunday against Columbus.

McElhinney made 29 saves on 32 shots in his second game in as many nights, but fell 3-2 to the Blue Jackets. The 33-year-old finishes the season with an 8-8-2 record, 2.70 goals against average and .917 save percentage.
Apr 9 - 11:45 PM

Curtis McElhinney will get Sunday's season finale against Columbus.

The veteran backup netminder has been good for Toronto since coming over from Columbus, sporting a 6-6 record through 13 games with a .915 save percentage and a 2.82 GAA.
Apr 9 - 2:15 PM

Curtis McElhinney turned aside 12 of 14 shots in a 5-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins Saturday night.

Frederik Andersen got the start and stopped three of four shots. However, he had to leave the contest early in the second period with a possible concussion after being run into by Tom Sestito. McElhinney's record improved to 8-7-2 this season.
