Curtis McElhinney allowed five goals on 36 shots in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the St. Louis Blues.
These two teams played a pair of split-squad games on Tuesday. Columbus won one by a score of 3-1 but they dropped this one. McElhinney did have to face some of St. Louis' better players like Vladimir Tarasenko, Paul Stasty, Alex Steen and Alex Pietrangelo but his early preseason performance is definitely disappointing. He should go into the season as Sergei Bobrovsky's backup goaltender but if something were to happen to Columbus' starter, they would be in serious trouble. You can ignore McElhinney in all fantasy leagues. Sep 22 - 11:45 PM

Curtis McElhinney made 48 saves in the Blue Jackets’ 5-4 shootout win against the Islanders on Saturday night.

McElhinney made up for all the time in between starts — he hadn’t gotten into a game since March 18 — with all the action in this one. He’s still nothing more than a backup. McElhinney had a 2.88 goals-against average and .914 save percentage this season.
Apr 11 - 10:42 PM

Curtis McElhinney will get the season finale on Saturday night against the New York Islanders.

McElhinney comes in owning an 11-14-2 record with a .913 save percentage and a 2.84 GAA through 31 games this season. Though his three career starts versus the Islanders all came while with the Anaheim Ducks, McElhinney is 2-1 with a shutout and four goals against on 53 combined shots.
Apr 11 - 5:04 PM

Curtis McElhinney was outstanding in making 44 saves to earn a 4-3 shootout win over Edmonton on Wednesday.

McElhinney was named the second star of the night and he deserved it in the place of starter Sergei Bobrovsky. He still owns a pretty ugly 11-14-2 record to go with a 2.84 goals-against-average and .913 save percentage in 31 games this season. He isn't a guy you want to spot start unless the matchup is nearly perfect.
Mar 19 - 1:55 AM

Wednesday will be McElhinney’s first start in the team’s last five games. He has lost six straight starts giving up a total of 18 goals against. In 30 games overall this season, he has a 10-14-2 record with a 2.85 goals-against-average and .912 save percentage and has not faced the Oilers this season.

Mar 7 - 5:07 PM

Curtis McElhinney allowed five goals on 41 shots in Sunday's 5-3 loss to Pittsburgh.

The 31-year-old backup has started six of his team's last seven games because of the injury to Sergei Bobrovsky. The Blue Jackets opened the scoring in the game but the Penguins beat McElhinney five straight times to take a commanding lead. McElhinney has now dropped three straight games and his overall record drops to 10-13-2 on the season. He has a 2.77 goals-against-average and a .914 save percentage.

Mar 1 - 2:39 PM

Curtis McElhinney only gave up one goal, but that was enough for another loss as the New Jersey Devils won 2-0 against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday.

He gave up that tally on 18 shots, with an empty-netter added. He's currently on a four-game losing streak that probably isn't such a bad team for a Columbus team that's better off "tanking" right now.

McElhinney is now winless in his past three games, allowing eight goals in that span. The veteran is 10-11-2 this eason with a .915 save percentage and 2.75 goals against average. The team will look to rebound on Saturday versus New Jersey.
