Curtis McElhinney faced 37 shots, blocked 35 of them, and won against the Senators Saturday night in his first game as a Maple Leaf.
With a season long save percentage of .924 with the Blue Jackets, he was not exactly struggling as their backup. Still, he was in net for four losses—two of which came in overtime. The pressure of tending the net for the Leafs is undoubtedly less intense than he faced in Columbus, and that might account for his initial success. Jan 14 - 11:57 PM

It's official, Curtis McElhinney will make his Maple Leafs debut on Saturday against Ottawa.

He's 2-1-2 in seven games with 15 goals against so far this season, along with a .924 save percentage. He's riding significantly above his career marks, but against Ottawa, why can't he stay hot?
Jan 14 - 5:41 PM

Curtis McElhinney will indeed make his start on Saturday against Ottawa, "if healthy."

The veteran backup is expected to make his first start with the Maple Leafs, but is dealing with a minor injury. The Maple Leafs have summoned up Garret Sparks as a precaution, meaning that if McElhinney can't go, it'll be Frederik Andersen back in net.

Curtis McElhinney will get the start in Saturday's game against the Ottawa Senators.

McElhinney was picked up off waivers from Columbus earlier this week and this will be his first start as a Maple Leaf. He owns a 2-1-2 record with a 2.39 goals-against-average and a .924 save percentage in 2016-17.

Curtis McElhinney is expected to start on Friday or Saturday.

It will be McElhinney's first game with Toronto after being claimed off waivers from Columbus. He had a 2-1-2 record, 2.39 GAA, and .924 save percentage in seven contests with the Blue Jackets this season.
Jan 12 - 4:19 PM

Curtis McElhinney has been claimed by Toronto off waivers from Columbus.

The Maple Leafs have been in the market for a backup goalie since losing faith in Jhonas Enroth. McElhinney will get a look after posting a 2-1-2 record along with a 2.39 goals-against average and a .924 save percentage as a member of the Blue Jackets this season.
Jan 10 - 12:24 PM

Curtis McElhinney has been placed on waivers by Columbus.

The Blue Jackets have called up Anton Forsberg to replace him on the roster and sent Markus Hannikainen to AHL Cleveland. McElhinney has a 2-1-2 record this season with Columbus along with a 2.39 goals-against average and a .924 save percentage. Those are decent numbers for a backup despite the fact that he struggled against the Rangers on Saturday during his last start.
Jan 9 - 11:07 AM

Curtis McElhinney faced 34 shots and gave up five goals as the Columbus Blue Jackets lost a 5-4 contest to the New York Rangers Saturday night.

The Jackets were hoping McElhinney would carry a little momentum from Thursday night’s game when he made four saves on four shots in 14 minutes of time on ice. His effort against the Capitals was too little and too late as they lost for the first time in 17 games. Still, they were hopeful because McElhinney entered with back-to-back save percentages of greater than .940 against the Coyotes on December 3rd and Kings on the 20th. He and the Jackets seemed to be destined to earn the tie in regulation against the Rangers until Michael Grabner scored unassisted with 17 seconds remaining in regulation.
Jan 7 - 9:52 PM

Curtis McElhinney has been tabbed as Columbus' netminder for their match with the Rangers on Saturday.

Well, this one was predictable. The first game after the Blue Jackets' their 16-game is snapped, Sergei Bobrovsky's backup is fit to take the crease. McElhinney is 4-2-2 this season with 10 goals against and a .939 save percentage this season.
Jan 7 - 2:22 PM

Curtis McElhinney stopped 44 of 46 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout win over the Los Angeles Kings.

Only Jeff Carter was able to beat McElhinney tonight, as he scored both of Los Angeles' goals plus another one in the shootout. McElhinney has a 2-0-2 record with a 1.99 goals-against-average and a .938 save percentage this season. The Blue Jackets have rattled off 10 wins in a row.

Curtis McElhinney will get the nod for Columbus Tuesday against Los Angeles.

He picked up his first win of the season on Dec. 3 in his last start. McElhinney stopped 32 of 34 shots from the Coyotes in that contest. He has seen very limited action this season behind Sergei Bobrovsky. In four appearances, he has a 1-0-2 record with a 2.03 GAA and a .930 save percentage.

It'll be Curtis McElhinney, not Sergei Bobrovsky, in net against the Coyotes on Saturday.

Thus will mark the backup's third start and fourth game of the season. He's turned away 74 of 80 combined shots this season and is 0-0-2. With a loaded slate of games tonight, you may wish to find a more favorable matchup.

Curtis McElhinney, making only his second start in net for the Columbus Blue Jackets, had 24 saves in a 3-2 overtime loss to the visiting Colorado Avalanche Monday night.

Sergei Bobrovsky had a rare night off for the Blue Jackets. McElhinney is 0-0-2. His goals-against average is 2.09 and his save percentage is .925. Needless to say, McElhinney is not a wise fantasy option.

Curtis McElhinney will be in goal on Monday night against Colorado.

This will be just his second start of the season. Sergei Bobrovsky started Friday and Sunday, so he will get the night off with Columbus ready to play again on Wednesday.
Mon, Nov 21, 2016 05:08:00 PM

Curtis McElhinney stopped 28 shots and let two pass in the 2-1 loss of the Columbus Blue Jackets to the St Louis Blues Saturday night.

The Jackets were coming off a three-game winning streak that included Friday night’s trouncing of the Canadiens. McElhinney could not rightly be blamed for the loss, however, as he has a respectable save percentage of .933 after 64:17 minutes on the ice. The winning goal slipped past him at the 4:17 minute mark of overtime on only the second Jackets’ shot.
