Curtis McElhinney is expected to start Thursday's game against New Jersey.
At least that's the plan that the Leafs have in place at this time. Frederik Andersen will start Wednesday's game versus Columbus. McElhinney has a 3-4-0 record with the Leafs along with a 2.70 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage. Mar 22 - 12:59 PM

Curtis McElhinney stopped 31 of 35 shots in a 5-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Friday.

The Leafs looked gassed in this one, not really giving McElhinney much of a chance to get anything going. The backup netminder has lost 4 of his 7 games this season in goal for the Leafs and might only see a couple of more starts in goal the rest of the season with the Leafs pushing for a playoff spot. His record drops to 5-5-2 on the year with a 2.38 goals against average and .927 save percentage.
Mar 4 - 1:08 AM

Curtis McElhinney will get the nod for Toronto on Friday night against Anaheim.

Toronto will give Frederik Andersen a break, so that he doesn't have to play for a third time in four nights. McElhinney has a 3-3-0 record with a 2.08 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage as a member of the Maple Leafs.
Mar 3 - 10:23 AM

Curtis McElhinney faced 37 shots and stopped every one of them in Toronto's 4-0 victory over Carolina on Sunday evening.

Making his fifth start for the Maple Leafs since being claimed off waivers last month, McElhinney was a significant part of the victory for his fifth career shutout. The 33-year-old improves to 5-4-2 this season with a .931 save percentage and 2.24 goals against average.
Feb 19 - 10:47 PM

Confirming an earlier note, Curtis McElhinney will indeed be in net on Sunday against the Hurricanes.

The career backup has performed quite well for both Columbus and Toronto this season. Through 12 games, split nearly evenly, he's posted a 4-4-2 record with a .924 save percentage and 27 goals against.
Feb 19 - 5:05 PM

There is a good chance that Curtis McElhinney will get the start Sunday evening against the Hurricanes.

Frederik Andersen started and lost to the Senators Saturday and Toronto coach Mike Babcock may want to give him the night off. Stay tuned throughout the afternoon to see if McElhinney's start gets confirmed.
Feb 19 - 10:57 AM

Curtis McElhinney allowed four goals on 34 shots in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

His old team got the better of him tonight, as they were able to score early and often in this one. The Leafs backup goalie has dropped three of his last four decisions. McElhinney has a 4-4-2 record with a 2.45 goals-against-average and a .924 save percentage this season. He doesn't carry any value in fantasy.
Feb 15 - 10:21 PM

Curtis McElhinney has been confirmed as Toronto's starter for Wednesday's game against Columbus.

It was expected that McElhinney would get the nod against his former team after Frederik Andersen won Tuesday's match against the Islanders. McElhinney will get to face the team that put him on waivers last month. He has a 2-2-0 record with a 2.11 GAA and a .935 save percentage in four appearances with the Maple Leafs.
Feb 15 - 11:37 AM

Curtis McElhinney will probably get the nod on Wednesday against his former Columbus teammates.

The Leafs host the New York Islanders on Tuesday, which could be a start for Frederik Andersen. It would place McElhinney in a good spot to face the team that put him on waivers a month ago. We'll let you know how on the situation will play out when we get confirmation.

Feb 13 - 10:57 AM

Curtis McElhinney stopped 39 of 40 shots in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Dallas Stars.

The Leafs got a pretty solid performance from their backup goalie tonight. McElhinney turned aside all 30 shots he faced at even-strength (Tyler Seguin scored a power play goal in the third period). McElhinney now owns a 4-3-2 record with a 2.29 goals-against-average and a .928 save percentage in 2016-17. Despite the strong start, he still isn't worth owning in standard fantasy leagues.
Feb 7 - 10:47 PM

Curtis McElhinney will be in the crease for Tuesday's game versus Dallas.

He has a 1-2-0 record with a 2.51 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage in three appearances with Toronto. McElhinney picked up a loss against the Stars on Jan. 31 when he entered the game following an early exit for starter Frederik Andersen.
Feb 7 - 11:59 AM

Curtis McElhinney allowed two goals on 34 shots in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.

This was McElhinney's second start as a Maple Leaf and his first loss with his new team. He now owns a 3-2-2 record with a 2.31 goals-against-average and a .929 save percentage. He's nothing more than an average backup goalie and shouldn't be on your fantasy radar.
Jan 26 - 10:08 PM

Curtis McElhinney will get the nod Thursday at Philadelphia.

He will make his second start with the Maple Leafs after Frederik Andersen posted a 22-save shutout against Detroit on Wednesday night. McElhinney was victorious in his Toronto debut back on Jan. 14 when he blocked 35 of 37 shots versus Ottawa.
Jan 26 - 9:10 AM

Curtis McElhinney faced 37 shots, blocked 35 of them, and won against the Senators Saturday night in his first game as a Maple Leaf.

With a season long save percentage of .924 with the Blue Jackets, he was not exactly struggling as their backup. Still, he was in net for four losses—two of which came in overtime. The pressure of tending the net for the Leafs is undoubtedly less intense than he faced in Columbus, and that might account for his initial success.
Jan 14 - 11:57 PM

It's official, Curtis McElhinney will make his Maple Leafs debut on Saturday against Ottawa.

He's 2-1-2 in seven games with 15 goals against so far this season, along with a .924 save percentage. He's riding significantly above his career marks, but against Ottawa, why can't he stay hot?
