Thompson may get a phone call from the NHL disciplinary committee but it has to help his cause that Faulk was right back in the game. It was only the fourth game of the season for Thompson who has finally recovered from off-season shoulder surgery. He has two assists in four games and 15 penalty minutes although he will not keep up either pace.

Nate Thompson is listed as a game-time decision for Wednesday night, but it's likely that he'll play in his first game of the season.

He skated on the fourth line with Mike Santorelli and Chris Stewart in the morning. "Tonight I'll take warmups and see if I get the call," Thompson said. "It's exciting, for sure. The last couple days, I haven't been able to stop smiling. It's like Christmas for me. I'm excited to get going again."
