Apr 8 - 12:13 PM

There is a possibility that Steve Downie (upper body) could play on Tuesday.

The winger has missed seven games with the upper body injury and the Flyers are down a forward as Zac Rinaldo was handed a four game suspension. If Downie is unable to go, look for Tye McGinn to get back in the lineup. Downie has four goals and 24 points in 60 games split between the Flyers and the Avalanche this season. His biggest fantasy value is his 106 penalty minutes. Stay tuned as he will likely be a game-time decision.
Apr 8 - 10:14 AM

Steve Downie skated separately from his Philadelphia Flyers teammates on Sunday, so he might be nearing a return but won't do so today.

When healthy, Downie is a great source of PIMs and hits while also be a fairly dangerous scorer. If you're making daily add/drops, stay away (for now).
Apr 6 - 12:17 PM

Steve Downie missed his sixth straight game Thursday because of a head injury, but Flyers coach Craig Berube said that when the winger is ready, he wants him back in the lineup.

"I think he's close," Berube said. Tyler McGinn could be demoted when Downie comes back. "I think he's been fine," Berube said of McGinn. "He's skated well and been involved." McGinn was on a line Thursday with Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds. McGinn has three goals and no assists in 14 games.
Apr 5 - 10:47 AM

Apr 1 - 10:09 AM

Steve Downie (upper body) will not play on Sunday.

Downie is apparently getting closer after he was injured eight days ago after crashing into the Blues Patrik Berglund. Steve Downie (upper body) feels like he's getting closer.

"I feel pretty good, actually," Downie said. "I'm almost ready. Nothing's really bothering me, there's just a couple more steps I need to take." However, it's still unclear when he'll be able to return and he doesn't have a target date in mind.

Steve Downie (head) might start skating again on Thursday.

Mar 26 - 6:46 PM

Steve Downie (head) wasn't on the ice for Tuesday's practice.

Downie crashed into Patrick Berglund on Saturday and left the game as a result. He has a history of concussions, so if that's what he's dealing with now, then this is a potentially serious problem.
Mar 25 - 4:52 PM

Steve Downie left Saturday's game against the Blues and there is concern that he sustained yet another concussion.

He crashed into St. Louis' Patrick Berglund and was on the ice apparently dizzy for some time before leaving the game. Downie will be re-evaluated Sunday but given that he has had two prior concussions this season alone, we would not be shocked to learn he has sustained yet a third.
Mar 23 - 11:41 AM

Steve Downie has recovered from the flu that forced him to miss Saturday's game.

"It was a 24-hour thing. I feel pretty good now," Downie said. He's projected to play alongside Matt Read and Sean Couturier on Tuesday.
