Ondrej Pavelec was lousy Saturday night, giving up four goals in the Jets’ 4-3 loss to the Wild.
Pavelec made only 20 saves. He is the bottom of the barrel when it comes to fantasy goalies. Nicolas Petan, Matt Halischuk and Grant Clitsome scored the goals for the Jets. Sep 27 - 10:40 PM

Coach Paul Maurice wants to see how Ondrej Pavelec performs when the Jets play better around him.

"We need to play a game in front of him that he understands and then we can assess his abilities to stop the puck from that game," Maurice said. "Two years ago when he was voted the most valuable player, I remember him in the net and 'We're not beating that guy tonight.' So the talent is there and we've seen it. Put a structure in front of him that gives him the best chance. He knows what he needs to do to be a No. 1, to be a great No. 1, and that's what our goal is for him. I have confidence in this man and his game." Pavelec will be under the microscope this season, but it sounds like Maurice will give him a very long leash, especially if Winnipeg doesn't make a move to acquire another netminder.
Sep 19 - 7:08 AM

Ondrej Pavelec has been busy preparing for the upcoming season.

Gary Lawless spoke to Pavelec's agent, Allan Walsh, who said that Pavelec is in the best shape of his career. "He's totally changed his body," Walsh said. The 2014-15 campaign is a big one for Pavalec, as he has to prove to the Jets that he can carry the load and be a starter for the organization after a few sub-par seasons.
Aug 26 - 9:28 AM

Jets' coach Paul Maurice firmly believes that Ondrej Pavelec can not only be the Jets' starting goalie going forward but that he will also be an NHL star.

Strong words for the coach about a netminder many believe just doesn't have it in him to lead a team into a successful playoff run. "I have a firm belief he has the ability to be an outstanding No. 1 goaltender. I do. We're going to do everything we can to make that happen. But it's incumbent on every player to make that happen," Maurice said. Pavelec had a miserable 2013-14 season posting a 3.01 GAA and a .901 save percentage while winning a paltry 22 games. For the Jets' sake we hope Maurice is right.
Jun 28 - 1:38 PM

Ondrej Pavelec made 23 saves for Winnipeg, which topped Toronto on Saturday night 4-2.

Pavelec allowed both goals in an eight-shot first period and settled down for the rest of the game. The Jets have a lot invested in Pavelec, but outside of one season, he really hasn't proven he's a netminder you can count on every night. He has a 3.01 goals-against average and .901 save percentage this year.
Apr 5 - 10:16 PM

Ondrej Pavelec will start for Winnipeg on Saturday.

It will be Pavelec's fifth straight game between the pipes. He has a 3.03 GAA and .901 save percentage in 56 contests this season.
Apr 5 - 12:24 PM

Ondrej Pavelec gave up four goals in the Jets' 4-2 loss to the Penguins on Thursday night.

Pavelec faced only 21 shots in the game, so clearly it wasn't a very good performance for the netminder. In reality, these types of efforts have been commonplace for Pavelec, who sports an unsightly 3.03 goals-against average and .901 save percentage, both of which rank in 44th in the NHL.
Apr 3 - 11:07 PM

Ondrej Pavelec will make his fourth straight start Thursday when the Jets play Pittsburgh.

He has a 1-1-1 record during that span and he's coming off a 2-1 shootout victory over Phoenix on Tuesday night.
Apr 3 - 3:40 PM

Ondrej Pavelec turned aside 28 of 29 shots in Winnipeg's 2-1 shootout win over Phoenix Tuesday night.

Pavelec also stopped all three Phoenix's shootout attempts and saw his record improve to a 21-25-7. He now has a 3.01 goals-against average and .902 save percentage.
Apr 2 - 3:24 AM

Ondrej Pavelec allowed five goals on 36 shots in Winnipeg's 5-4 overtime loss to Anaheim Monday night.

It was Pavelec's second start after his injury and he has lost both of those games. He now has a 20-25-7 record with a 3.05 goals-against average and .901 save percentage. The Jets really need better goaltending from him.
Apr 1 - 3:04 AM

Ondrej Pavelec will get the nod for Winnipeg on Monday night.

There was some speculation that he may have re-injured his lower-body ailment, but it's Al Montoya who is dealing with a minor injury. If Montoya can't suit up as Pavelec's backup then Michael Hutchinson will dress instead.
Mar 31 - 4:37 PM

Coach Paul Maurice deflected the blame away from his goaltenders for Saturday's loss to Los Angeles.

Ondrej Pavelec was yanked after one period of work for surrendering three goals and 16 shots. "I understand how it looked in the first period, but I'm not putting this game on the goaltenders," Maurice said. "The goalies were as good as the rest of the hockey club. We're not saying we need some saves to get us going. Shame on us. It's a 20-man group. Can our goalies be better? Yes. But that first period wasn't a goalie issue. That puck dropped and (the Kings) came out flying. Regardless of how the puck crossed the line, it's on all of us." The Jets play Monday night in Anaheim and Tuesday at Phoenix, so there could be a split of the goaltending duties coming. Michael Hutchinson is also back up with the big club, which indicates Pavelec or Al Montoya may be dealing with an injury. It hasn't been announced who will start yet.
Mar 31 - 9:28 AM

Ondrej Pavelec lasted one period before getting pulled in the Jets' 4-2 loss to the Kings on Saturday night.

It's becoming pretty apparent that if the Jets want to take the next step, Pavelec isn't the guy they should count on between the pipes. He gave up three goals on 16 shots on Saturday, sinking his already-poor numbers to a 3.01 goals-against average and .902 save percentage. Al Montoya came on in relief, making 12 of 13 saves.
Mar 30 - 12:41 AM

Ondrej Pavelec will be back in goal when the Jets face off against the Kings in Los Angeles Saturday night.

The Jets' number one goalie has missed the team's last six games with a lower-body injury but he is now ready to return. If you are in need of goalie starts, you can turn to Pavelec if you have a gamblers' heart.
Mar 29 - 1:46 PM

Ondrej Pavelec (lower body) has been ruled out for Thursday's game.

Pavelec hasn't played since March 14. He might be back on Saturday.
