The Anaheim Ducks have sent Zack Stortini to the minors.
Stortini has played 257 regular season games in the NHL but the enforcer, who has 725 career penalty minutes, spent all of last season in the minors with Hamilton and will now play for the Ducks AHL affiliate in Norfolk. Zack Stortini has inked a one-year deal with the Anaheim Ducks.

Stortini had six points and 241 penalty minutes in 73 AHL games last season. As you might guess, he could challenge for the PIM lead if he played regularly at the NHL level, but he's more likely to spend the 2013-14 campaign in the minors.

The Hamilton Bulldogs have announced that they signed former Bulldog and Edmonton Oiler Zack Stortini to an AHL contract.

Stortini, 27, has spent parts of six seasons in the National Hockey League with the Nashville Predators and Edmonton Oilers, registering 41 points (14 goals, 27 assists) and 725 penalty minutes in 257 regular season games. Stortini spends a lot of time in the sin bin, but he has no fantasy offensive upside.

The Nashville Predators have placed Zack Stortini on waivers.

Nashville needed to make room for Brian McGrattan, who they claimed off waivers. Stortini has no points and seven penalty minutes in one game with the Predators this season.

Stortini will earn $75,000 if he spends the season in the minors and $550,000 if he plays in the NHL. He could spend 150-200 minutes in the sin bin if he spends the entire season with the Predators.

Stortini now is set to become an unrestricted free agent on Friday. Depending on who he signs with, Stortini could end up with 150-200 penalty minutes in 2011-12.

The Edmonton Oilers will probably try to trade Zack Stortini during the NHL entry draft.

Stortini is eligible to become a restricted free agent this summer and he doesn't seem to have a spot on the Oilers depth charts. That being said, he might be able to get another job in the NHL as a bottom-six forward. He is projected to spend 150-200 minutes in the sin bin if he plays consistently next season.

Just an FYI. Stortini has value in pools that use penalty minutes as he has 52 in 27 games with three assists and a minus-three rating.

Zack Stortini will draw back into the Edmonton lineup on Thursday.

Stortini has been a healthy scratch in four of the Oilers last eight games. He will replace Jean-Francois Jacques. Stortini has value in the penalty minutes category so if he could be in a fight tonight if he wants to hold onto his spot.

Zack Stortini had a big game for Edmonton in their 6-1 thumping over Nashville.

The tough guy dropped his gloves with Triston Grant and scored a pair of goals in the contest with one coming on the power play. Andrew Cogliano and Gilbert Brule finished the game with a goal and an assist apiece, while Dustin Penner collected two helpers in the victory. Shawn Horcoff and Denis Grebeshkov also scored for the Oilers in the game.

Stortini's fantasy value is soaring with the latest offensive push. He now has four goals and seven points in 37 games in addition to 140 penalty minutes. It's nice to have your penalty minute player chipping in offensively in fantasy pools. He sould be active in all pools that use penalty minutes as a category.
