Peter Harrold scored his first goal of the season but the Devils came up short in their 2-1 loss to the Canadiens on Saturday night.

Harrold, who also picked up a minor penalty and had four shots on goal, has only played in seven games this season. He may be playing over 17 minutes a night, but he's not a very exciting defenseman for fantasy purposes. Ilya Kovalchuk had the assist.

Peter Harrold was okay after a hard hit from Philadelphia Flyers forward Brayden Schenn late in the third period of Saturday's game.

"It didn't tickle, but I've been hit like that before," Harrold said. "That's part of the game sometimes and you shake it off and move on." Schenn received a charging minor for his actions, but he also appeared to leave his feat on the hit and, even more concerning, Harrold got hit in the head. Even still, it sounds like Harrold didn't have any immediate concussion symptoms. It's also worth noting that Harrold actually defended Schenn making contact with his head. "But I was down low anyways," Harrold said. "It didn't matter how he hit me. He was going to hit me in the face."
Mar 16 - 10:28 AM

Peter Harrold impressed coach Pete DeBoer on Thursday night.

In just his second game of the season, the 29-year-old played 21:44 and had two shots on goal. "I thought he was great," DeBoer said. "It reminded me last year of when we stuck him in late in the season he made it awful hard for us to take him out the way he skated and moved the puck."
Mar 8 - 10:07 AM

Coach Pete DeBoer said he may get some "fresh legs" into the lineup for Thursday's game against Buffalo, so blueliner Peter Harrold eagerly threw his name into the conversation when he spoke to the media.

"There is nobody fresher than I am," Harrold said with a smile. "He hasn't said anything to me but obviously I want to play. I would welcome that." He has played in just one game so far this season.
Mar 7 - 7:25 AM

Peter Harrold was a healthy scratch Saturday night against the New York Islanders.

Harrold had four points in 17 games during the Devils' 2012 playoff run, but at this point, he should be regarded as a depth defenseman In New Jersey. He has no fantasy value.
Jan 20 - 11:14 AM

Harrold was eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. The terms of the deal were not revealed. He had four points in 17 games during the Devils' 2012 playoff run.

Peter Harrold is hoping that he'll see his former Los Angeles teammates soon in the Stanley Cup Finals.

The New Jersey Devils have a chance to wrap up their series versus the New York Rangers with a win on Friday night. Harrold was with the Kings' organization for five seasons before signing with the Devils as an unrestricted free agent last summer. "I think they lost two games all playoffs," he said. "They're obviously playing really well. Good for them. Hopefully we'll get a chance to beat them." Harrold has recorded four assists and a plus-3 rating in 13 playoff games.

It looks like Peter Harrold will draw back into New Jersey's lineup on Wednesday in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

He worked alongside Anton Volchenkov during the team's morning skate and rookie Adam Larsson appeared to be the extra defender. Harrold also practiced with the Devils' second power-play unit. He hasn't played since Game 2 against Philadelphia in Round 2, but has four assists and a plus-2 rating over nine postseason matches.

Peter Harrold appears to be the odd man out should Ilya Kovalchuk return to the lineup on Thursday night.

The defenseman lined up as a winger in Tuesday's Game 2 victory with Kovalchuk sidelined and rookie blueliner Adam Larsson making his NHL playoff debut.

With Ilya Kovalchuk out, Peter Harrold will move from defense to right wing.

Kovalchuk’s injury is resulting in a little lineup shuffling by coach Peter DeBooer. Harrold has three assists during these playoffs.

Peter Harrold recorded his first career playoff point on Thursday.

Harrold registered an assist on Ilya Kovalchuk's power-play goal. Harrold played in just 11 regular season games with New Jersey, but he's averaging 2:04 power-play minutes per contest in the playoffs.
Fri, Apr 20, 2012 10:48:00 AM

Peter Harrold has been working with the second power-play unit at practice, which indicates he will open the Devils' first-round playoff series against Florida.

That would leave rookie Adam Larsson in the press box for Game 1 on Friday night. Harrold posted two assists and 11 shots in 11 games with New Jersey this campaign and he supplanted Larsson for a spot on the roster down the stretch.

Peter Harrold got his first point of the season in Thursday's 2-1 win over Detroit.

Harrold assisted on Alexei Ponikarovsky's goal. He also has five goals and 26 points in 61 AHL games this season. He should be regarded as a depth defenseman at this stage of his career.
