Nicklas Grossmann and the Calgary Flames have agreed to terminate his contract, thus making him an UFA.

Grossmann saw just three games of action before the Flames wanted to send him down to the NHL, instead now he's free to sign with any team. His $575K (league minimum) is wiped from the books. It'll be interesting to see what opportunities open up for the 31-year-old veteran of 592 career games.

An unfortunate end for both the player and the team, but it sounds like it's for the best. The veteran defender has played 592 career games with 86 points with 314 PIMs, 892 hits and 1,254 blocks.
