Karri Ramo (upper body) has been activated from injured reserve.
Joni Ortio has helped the Flames win four straight games during Ramo's absence, so the team's brass has an interesting decision to make. The club has three goaltenders in the fold now with Ramo back and Jonas Hiller in the fold. Ramo hasn't played since Jan. 7. Jan 20 - 4:14 PM

Karri Ramo (upper body) practiced with the Calgary Flames on Friday.

Ramo was injured 10 days ago after a collision with teammate Raphael Diaz and will likely return after the All-Star break, especially with Joni Ortio playing so well. Just an FYI for those who have Ramo on reserve.
Jan 17 - 7:14 AM

Karri Ramo has been placed on injured reserve after a collision with teammate Raphael Diaz on Wednesday night.

It's not expected to be a long-term ailment. Joni Ortio has been recalled to serve as Jonas Hiller's backup until Ramo is ready to return.
Jan 8 - 4:41 PM

Flames' backup Karri Ramo had to leave Wednesday's game versus Detroit with an injury after taking a hit while playing the puck.

Ramo came out far of his crease about midway through the second period to play the puck in front of him but unfortunately ran into this own teammate Raphael Diaz in covering the puck. It is a tough break for the Flames' backup as he was making his first start since Dec.16. Jonas Hiller came into the game in relief. Ramo had stopped 12-of-13 shots sent his way in what was a 1-1 game at the time.
Jan 7 - 11:06 PM

Karri Ramo will start for the Calgary Flames on Wednesday.

Ramo hasn't played between the pipes since Dec. 16. He has a 2.69 GAA and .903 save percentage in 15 contests in 2014-15. Starting goaltender Jonas Hiller hasn't slowed down lately, so it looks like they just want to give him a breather and nothing more.
Jan 5 - 3:03 PM

Karri Ramo tested negatively for the mumps.

That was good news as Ramo was only suffering from an illness. He skated with the team on Friday and could return to the cage as early as Saturday in Vancouver. He is 8-5-1 with a 2.69 GAA and a .903 save percentage. With the Flames in a seven game tailspin, coach Bob Hartley could go back to Ramo. Stay tuned.

Karri Ramo (illness) took part in Friday's morning skate.

Ramo missed Thursday's practice due to the sickness. He should be fine to backup Jonas Hiller on Friday.

Karri Ramo missed Thursday's practice due to an illness.

Although the Flames have no reason to suspect that Ramo has the mumps, he's being tested for it. The Flames just want to err on the side of caution given the outbreak that's impacted at least 15 NHL players so far. Ramo won't get the start on Friday even if he's healthy as Jonas Hiller was already penciled in to start in that contest.

Karri Ramo got the hook in the second period after allowing four goals on 13 shots in Tuesday's tilt with the Rangers.

The Flames as an entire team looked tired as the speed of the Rangers was apparent on three of the Rangers four goals early in this game. Ramo wasn't the problem but he sure wasn't the solution as the Flames needed a spark to get them going. Jonas Hiller came in to spell Ramo for the rest of the night.

Karri Ramo will be in net for the Flames as they welcome the Rangers Tuesday night.

The Flames have lost five in a row, and have fallen out of the playoff picture during that time. That being said, they sit third in a three-way tie with LA and Winnipeg for both Wild Card slots. Calgary also sits just two points behind San Jose and Vancouver in the Pacific division. So as bad as things are looking, even a brief winning streak can reestablish the Flames as playoff contenders.

Karri Ramo is slated to start Sunday night in Chicago for the Flames.

Ramo will have yet another opportunity to steal the crease away from the would-be primary starter Jonas Hiller as there's only a four-start difference between the two.

Karri Ramo allowed four goals on 19 shots in the Flames' 4-3 loss to Buffalo on Thursday night.

It was a shaky night for Ramo, who has allowed seven goals in his past two games, both losses. The 28-year-old Finn is 8-4-1 this season with a .911 save percentage and 2.50 goals against average.

Karri Ramo kicked away 27 shots in the Flames’ 3-2 loss to the Sharks on Saturday night.

Ramo gave up two in the second and one in the third period. The 28-year-old has gotten the bulk of the starts lately, but it will be interesting to see whether he makes his sixth straight after this performance, Tuesday at the Maple Leafs. Ramo had won six games in a row. He’s at a 2.37 goals-against average and .917 save percentage on the year.

Karri Ramo will be between the pipes when Calgary welcomes San Jose to their barn.

Both teams are coming off wild come-from-behind victories so it'll be interesting to see how this one plays out. Either way, Ramo's .918 save percentage and 2.31 GAA should lend some insight.

Karri Ramo stopped 26-29 Colorado sent his way in Calgary's 4-3 overtime victory.

Full marks to Alex Tanguay's shake'n'bake move to give Colorado the 3-2 lead late in the second, but otherwise Ramo was strong. Ramo now is now 8-2 on the season, just one win behind supposed starter Jonas Hiller.
