Karri Ramo has signed a PTO with the Toronto Marlies.
He has joined the organization's minor-league affiliate. It was speculated that Ramo would become the backup goalie of the Maple Leafs after Jhonas Enroth was waived Monday and this appears to be another step towards that process. Dec 6 - 11:42 AM

Karri Ramo should be medically cleared to play by the end of the week.

Ramo has been recovering from a February surgery for a torn ACL and meniscus damage. He's been linked to the Toronto Maple Leafs, especially after their decision to waive backup goalie Jhonas Enroth, but Ramo remains unsigned and Toronto reportedly isn't the only team interested in his services.

Karri Ramo's agent said that there's "nothing imminent" between his client and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Ramo remains a free agent and has been recovering from surgery in February for a torn ACL and meniscus damage. However, he recently practiced with Toronto and with Jhonas Enroth now on waivers, the stage seems to be set for the Maple Leafs to ink Ramo as their new backup goaltender.

Karri Ramo, who remains unsigned, practiced with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday.

Ramo had surgery to repair a torn ACL and meniscus damage back in February and this was an opportunity for him to further his rehab. "So Ramo was out there with us today," said Leafs coach Mike Babcock. "His agent has a relationship with (GM) Lou (Lamoriello), he knows Lou. So he needed to get in shape and get his knee redone. Our guys helped him with that process and he was out on the ice today with us because we didn’t want Andy to have a whole bunch of shots. So that’s the scoop there." It's not clear if this will eventually lead to Ramo being signed by the Maple Leafs or even if he'll continue to skate with the team without a contract. That being said, he is hoping to be medically cleared by the end of November, so at that point any team looking for goaltending help might be interested in taking a shot on him.

Karri Ramo, who has been ruled out for the rest of the 2015-16 campaign, will undergo surgery this week.

Ramo has a torn ACL and meniscus damage. To provide a more specific timetable than the one previously provided, he's expected to miss the next six-to-eight months. That's terrible news for him given that he's scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. If Calgary doesn't re-sign him and he's forced to test the market, teams might be reluctant to present him with offers until he recovers. That could create a situation where he's not signed until October and by then there likely won't be any starting positions available, barring a significant training camp injury.
Feb 17 - 1:58 PM

Karri Ramo will miss the rest of the 2015-16 campaign with a torn ACL and meniscus damage.

That's a tough blow for Calgary, but it's even worse for Ramo. There was a time this season when he was the undisputed Flames' starter, but now Jonas Hiller and Joni Ortio will get a chance to make their case for the job. All three goaltenders are scheduled to become free agents this summer (although Ortio will be a RFA) so the stakes are high. Ramo will finish with a 2.63 GAA and .909 save percentage in 37 contests.
Feb 17 - 12:40 PM

There's still no update on Karri Ramo's condition.

Ramo is considered out indefinitely until otherwise noted with a left knee injury. Which is unfortunate as he had finally established himself as a starter. Ramo is 17-18-1 with a .909 save percentage and a 2.63 GAA on the season. Expect Jonas Hiller to be the starter for the foreseeable future.
Feb 14 - 4:18 PM

Karri Ramo (knee) has been placed on the injured reserve list.

Ramo was hurt when Joonas Donskoi crashed into him during Thursday's contest. We don't know the extent of his injury yet, but the fact that he's on the injured reserve list means that he'll be sidelined for at least a week.
Feb 12 - 1:43 PM

Karri Ramo's knee injury does not "look good," according to Flames coach Bob Hartley.

Ramo was hurt when Joonas Donskoi crashed into him during Thursday's game. Ramo isn't expected to be available for Friday's game, so the Flames will need to call up another goalie.

After turning away 29 of 34 shots through the first 57 minutes of Thursday's match with San Jose, Karri Ramo left with a left knee injury tied at five.

As Joonas Donskoi drove around Mark Giordano in the dying minutes of the third period, the young forward was tripped by Calgary's captain and he fell hard into Ramo's out-stretched left knee which was hugging the post. Unfortunately it buckled in a way it shouldn't. Ramo couldn't put any weight on the knee as he left the ice with help on either side of him. Jonas Hiller took the crease in relief, and we'll keep you posted on Ramo's condition.
Feb 12 - 1:26 AM

Karri Ramo will be between the pipes for Thursday's game against the Sharks.

The 29-year-old has a 17-18-1 record with a 2.56 goals-against-average and a .911 save percentage this season. He hasn't played since allowing two goals on 18 shots in a loss to Columbus on Feb. 5.
Feb 11 - 6:25 PM

Karri Ramo will play between the pipes on Friday.

Ramo will be going for his second straight win after stopping 28 of 29 shots on Tuesday. He has a 2.57 GAA and .911 save percentage in 35 contests in 2015-16.
Feb 4 - 3:54 PM

Karri Ramo made 28 saves in a 4-1 win over Carolina on Tuesday.

Ramo helped the Flames snap a three-game losing streak in the process. He's been shaky at times this year and his numbers overall show it despite being the number one guy in Calgary. He brings his 17-17-1 record, 2.57 GAA and .911 save percentage in 35 starts into the next game.
Feb 4 - 3:34 AM

Calgary will start Karri Ramo Wednesday night.

Ramo has lost his last three games, but he's only allowed seven games over that span. He has a 2.62 GAA and .910 save percentage in 34 contests this season.
Feb 3 - 3:19 PM

Karri Ramo made 22 saves on 24 shots in a 2-1 loss to Nashville on Wednesday.

He gave his team a chance to win but that is now three straight losses for Ramo. He has had an up and down year and the numbers don't really lie in his case. He brings his 16-17-1 record, 2.62 GAA and .910 save percentage in 34 games into the break.
