Karri Ramo has signed a one-year, $3.8 million deal to stay in Calgary.
He would've been eligible for unrestricted free agency, but he'll remain with the Flames. Jonas Hiller has a year left on his contract and Joni Ortio has a one-way deal in 2015-16, so the team will face some tough decisions on who goes and who stays. Ramo had a 15-9-3 record with a .912 save percentage and a 2.60 goals-against average last season Jul 1 - 11:11 AM

Karri Ramo is eligible for unrestricted free agency this summer.

Calgary's crease situation will be an interesting topic for management to discuss. He shared the crease with Jonas Hiller during the 2014-15 season and was the Flames' goalie of choice for the latter part of the playoffs. Hiller has one year left on his contract and Joni Ortio has a one-way deal for the 2015-16 campaign. Ramo posted a 15-9-3 record with a .912 save percentage and a 2.60 GAA, but he could be allowed to test the free agent market.
May 14 - 1:09 PM

Karri Ramo stopped 44 of 47 shots in Calgary's 3-2 elimination loss to the Anaheim Ducks.

The Flames had 1-0 and 2-1 leads in the game, but the Ducks were able to tie the game in the third before Corey Perry beat Ramo in overtime. The Flames goaltender wasn't thrilled after the winning goal went in, as he thought that he was interfered with. The loss will obviously sting, but the Flames were one of the biggest surprises in the NHL this year. Not only was Calgary able to make the postseason, but they won their first round matchup against the Vancouver Canucks in impressive fashion. The Flames will continue to be a tough out if their young players continue progressing like they did in 2014-15. Ramo finishes the playoffs with a 2.86 goals-against-average and a .906 save percentage.
May 11 - 1:36 AM

Calgary Flames head coach Bob Hartley said that Karri Ramo will remain in net against the Anaheim Ducks in Game 5 on Sunday.

The Flames are on the brink of elimination, yet Ramo has generally performed better than Jonas Hiller in the postseason.
May 9 - 3:04 PM

Karri Ramo made only 25 saves during Friday's 4-2 Game Four loss to Anaheim. The Flames now trail the Ducks in the series 3-1.

Ramo perhaps didn't receive stellar help from his defense, but he also only stopped six of eight shots while on the penalty kill. Fair or not, he has to be better than that. Especially during the opening minutes of a period, which is when the power play goals were scored. The loss drops Ramo's overall playoff record to 2-2 in four starts and six games with 13 goals against on 124 combined shots.
May 9 - 12:49 AM

Karri Ramo will get the start in Friday's Game Four against the Anaheim Ducks.

Ramo owns a 1-1 record through two starts and a relief appearance so far in the series, and has turned away just 67 of 75 combined shots. He's stopped just 49 of 54 shots faced during his two starts versus Anaheim, as well.
May 8 - 7:38 PM

Karri Ramo turned aside 18-of-21 shots in the Flames 4-3 overtime win in Game Three of their series with Anaheim on Tuesday.

He was swimming for a few of the goals tonight but in the end did enough to help his team earn the much needed victory. Ramo's performance at least helped justify the coaching staff's decision to bench Jonas Hiller. Ramo now carries a playoff record of 2-1 with a 2.78 goals-against-average and .896 save percentage. Look for Ramo to get the start again next game as the Flames to look to even the series at two games apiece with Anaheim.
May 6 - 3:21 AM

Karri Ramo is expected to get the nod on Tuesday.

Ramo turned aside 31 of 33 shots in Sunday's 3-0 loss, so it's not surprising to see him get another start. It looks like Jonas Hiller's playoff run might be over unless Ramo has a bad game.
May 5 - 2:01 PM

Karri Ramo stopped 31 of 33 shots in Sunday's 3-0 loss to Anaheim.

It's pretty clear that through two games, the Flames have been overwhelmed by the Ducks. Calgary turned to Ramo on Sunday after being forced to pull former Duck Jonas Hiller in back-to-back starts. The Flames will be disappointed to go down 0-2 in the series, but they did show that they could keep up with the Ducks in the second half of the game. It will be interesting to see if Bob Hartley goes back to Hiller or if he will give Ramo another shot to prove himself. Calgary isn't in a good spot, but they aren't in trouble yet. The picture will look more bleak if they fail to collect a win on home ice in Game Three on Tuesday night.
May 4 - 1:01 AM

Karri Ramo will start in Game 2 on Sunday.

Jonas Hiller was pulled in back-to-back games, so it's not hard to see where Flames coach Bob Hartley is coming from. At the same time, this has to be disappointing for Hiller as this series against Anaheim was his chance to make his former squad pay for parting ways with him. Ramo had a 2.60 GAA and .912 save percentage in 34 regular season games.
May 1 - 6:33 PM

Karri Ramo came off the bench in relief of starting goalie Jonas Hiller Saturday night and provided enough spark to help the Calgary Flames eliminate the Vancouver Canucks from the playoffs with a 7-4 triumph.

Hiller allowed a goal on three shots before Ramo came in. Ramo allowed a goal on the first shot he faced (from Radim Vrbata) and ended up with 17 saves on 19 shots. With the win, the Flames advanced to the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 2004 and only the second time since winning the Stanley Cup in 1989. The Flames will meet the Anaheim Ducks in the next round of the playoffs. Ramo may get more action than he did in the first round. He finished the first round with a 1-0 record in two appearances. His goals-against average was .211 and his save percentage, .905.
Apr 26 - 12:18 AM

Karri Ramo came in relief of Jonas Hiller with 5:52 remaining in the game. This was a precautionary move to get Hiller out of a chippy game the Flames lost 4-1.

Ramo stopped both shots he faced. Unless word comes out that Hiller is injured, or Coach Hartley has had a sudden change of heart, expect Hiller to be between the pipes again for Sunday's Game Three.
Apr 18 - 3:04 AM

Karri Ramo (leg) was able to skate with the Flames on Tuesday.

Ramo should still be regarded as day-to-day for now. He had a 2.60 GAA and .912 save percentage in 34 contests in the regular season.
Apr 14 - 4:21 PM

There were no updates on Sunday with regards to the leg injury suffered by Karri Ramo.

Ramo is considered day-to-day but the injury was significant enough for the Flames to recall goalie Brad Thiessen from Adirondack of the AHL. Ramo has a 15-9-3 record with a 2.60 GAA and a .912 save percentage. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Apr 6 - 4:46 AM

Karri Ramo departed early in Saturday’s game because of an undisclosed injury.

Ramo left 58 seconds into the game. He went down on a shot attempt that went wide and appeared to favor his left leg once he returned to his feet. He didn’t face a shot on goal against Edmonton. Ramo has a 2.60 goals-against average and .912 save percentage this season.
