The Pittsburgh Penguins waived forward Chris Conner to go along with Andrew Ebbett on Sunday.

Conner played in 12 games for the Phoenix Coyotes last season, picking up a goal and an assist. His best season came with the Pittsburgh Penguins, as he played in 60 games and scored 16 points (both career-high marks). With Ebbett and Conner, Pittsburgh has some NHL experience waiting in the wings if someone gets hurt (unless they get claimed).

They will try to help Portland try to stay alive in the AHL playoffs. The Pirates trail Syracuse 2-0 in their first-round, best-of-five series. Game 3 goes down on Thursday night at Portland.
