Jeff Schultz was injured in Game 1 of the AHL final when he took a huge hit from Utica's Jake Virtanen.
Schultz did not return to the game following the hit in the first period. "We’ve had guys injured and had guys recalled," Manchester coach Mike Strothers said. "Schultzy was out towards the end of the year, and we put other defensemen in. We feel quite confident that whoever we put in, Kevin Raine, Nick Ebert, we have guys who’ve played a lot of hockey for us all season long. I’ll tell you what, those guys have been working extremely hard. So, you know what? Regardless of what we do tomorrow, whoever we put in, they’ll be ready to go." Jun 7 - 8:45 AM

Jeff Schultz has been reassigned to AHL Manchester.

Like many of the other players being demoted Wednesday afternoon, Schultz might be back immediately after the All-Star break. He has an assist in nine games with Los Angeles this season.

Jeff Schultz has been summoned back up to LA from AHL Manchester in the wake of Robyn Regehr's hand injury.

This will be Schultz's first regular season game as a King if gets in the lineup on Saturday, although he did play in seven scoreless playoff games in their 2014 Cup run. The steady defensive defenseman doesn't have a lot of fantasy value, but he can be counted on to block nearly a shot a game.

Jeff Schultz's two-year deal with the Kings is worth $1.7 million.

It's a one-way deal, although so was Schultz's last contract and that didn't stop Los Angeles from burying him in the minors for most of the 2013-14 campaign. At best, Schultz will be a seventh defenseman with the Kings at the start of the season.

The Kings have re-signed defenseman Jeff Schultz to a two-year contract.

Schultz got some action with the Kings due to injuries in the postseason, but he spent the better part of the year with Manchester of the AHL. He carries no fantasy value and is nothing more than a depth player for Los Angeles.

Coach Darryl Sutter has been pleased with the play of defenseman Jeff Schultz.

Schultz spent most of the regular season with Manchester of the AHL but was pressed into duty in the playoffs with injuries to both Willie Mitchell and Robyn Regehr. Mitchell may be close to returning but the play of Schultz defensively should keep him in the lineup for now.

Jeff Schultz is expected to replace the injured Robyn Regehr on the Los Angeles blueline Monday.

Schultz spent most of the season in the AHL playing for Manchester. "He just said, 'Just go out there and play,'" Schultz said of coach Darryl Sutter, who had a chat with him on Sunday. "It's hard to replace a guy like Robyn, but I feel like I'm capable of doing a similar job of what he can do." Schultz had two goals and 13 points in 67 games with Manchester so do not expect anything out of him offensively in the playoffs.

The Los Angeles Kings have summoned Jeff Schultz.

Schultz isn't expected to play in Game 7. It's believed he was called up as an insurance policy, because the Kings are already without defenseman Willie Mitchell.

Jeff Schultz is expected to be called up soon.

Willie Mitchell probably won't be available for Game 7 on Wednesday, so the Kings need to make an adjustment. That being said, Schultz would be promoted for insurance purposes, while Matt Greene would replace Mitchell.

Jeff Schultz has been sent to the minors.

Schultz didn't end up playing for the Kings during his latest NHL stint. He has seven points and 14 penalty minutes in 41 AHL contests in 2013-14.

The Los Angeles Kings have sent Jeff Schultz to the minors.

Schultz was recalled on Tuesday but never got into a game. He did not make the Kings out of training camp and passed through waivers so he has been playing with Manchester of the AHL ever since. He had one goal and two points in 23 AHL games.

A tough few months continue for defenseman Jeff Schultz, as he failed to make the Los Angeles Kings' final roster and was placed on waivers.

Schultz was bought out by the Washington Capitals, so things just haven't gone very well for him lately. Perhaps he'd have better luck on a defense that isn't quite as deep and talented as the Kings' corps.

Jeff Schultz, who fell out of favor with the Washington Capitals last season, has earned a spot on the defense corps with the Los Angeles Kings, coach Darryl Sutter says.

Schultz requested a trade from the Caps last year but no one was willing to take his $2.75-million annual cap hit and he ended up getting bought out and signing a one-year, $700,000 deal with the Kings in July. After watching him in the exhibition season, Sutter believes Schultz will be a valuable addition for the Kings. "Jeff's been a guy that's had to adjust to how we play," Sutter said. "I said before, it's not easy for a guy to come from the East to the West, first off. There's big adjustments between teams, not just in getting to know players but big adjustment in terms of style of play and in terms of responsibility in certain parts of the game."

Jeff Schultz has agreed to a one-year/$700k deal with the Los Angeles Kings.

Schultz fell out of favor in Washington to the point where he requested a trade. No one was willing to take on his $2.75 million annual cap hit and he ended up getting bought out. Schultz will probably have an opportunity to fight for a spot on the third pairing, but that will partially depend on the health of Willie Mitchell.
