Jun 17 - 12:13 PM

Aaron Rome has been placed on unconditional waivers with the intent to buy out the remainder of his contract.

His deal would've paid him $1.6 million next season, but now the Stars will pay him $528,000 for each of the next two years. It's expected that Dallas will use a compliance buyout on Rome, so the team won't take a cap hit from the transaction. Dallas GM Jim Nil said the team doesn't plan to use another buyout. Rome appeared in just 25 games with the Stars last season.

Aaron Rome (upper body) will join the team in New York and he's poised to return to the lineup.

He didn't play on Monday and it's unclear if he'll be back in the lineup on Thursday. If he doesn't play Thursday then he should be back on Friday. The Stars returned Cameron Gaunce to the minors on Thursday to make room for him.
Jan 9 - 6:08 PM

Aaron Rome (lower body) has been taken off injured reserve and he'll be back in Dallas' lineup on Friday night.

He has missed the past four games with a lower-body injury. Rome had hip surgery and sports hernia surgery in the summer and he aggravated his hip on Dec. 16 against Colorado. "It's more of my own fault than anything, I tried to make a hip check, and that's probably not the best thing to do at this stage," Rome said. "I just need to stay physical and have a good gap, and find a different way to hit guys along the boards." He's expected to be paired with Jordie Benn against Nashville.
