Frans Nielsen picked up two more nifty gems to seal New York's 4-1 win over Anaheim on Friday night.
The gems of course belong to his wingers Anders Lee and Josh Bailey who performed yeoman's work to create the beautiful and simple scoring opportunities. All Nielsen had to do was tap it in, twice. What's that saying, 80% of success is just showing up? Well, Nielsen and his fantasy owners now have seven goals and 12 points on the season. Nov 14 - 1:01 AM

Frans Nielsen helped the New York Islanders secure a standings point in a 3-2 shootout loss to the New Jersey Devils.

Frans Nielsen posted his second and third goals of the season in the New York Islanders' 4-0 shutout victory over the visiting Calgary Flames Monday night.

The 31-year-old center now has three goals and seven points in nine games. Cal Clutterbuck (third) and Mikhail Grabovski (second) had the Isles' other goals. The Isles were up 1-0 after Grabovski's goal in the second period and scored three more in the third.

Frans Nielsen has a goal and five points in eight games this season.

Nielsen set a career-high in 2013-14 with 58 points, but he took a step back last season with 43. He'll probably end up somewhere between those two finishes in 2015-16, barring an injury. He might not be a star, but he's a valuable secondary scorer for the Islanders.

Frans Nielsen said his previously injured ankle feels great.

He was bothered by the ailment for the last two months of the season. Nielsen contributed 14 goals and 43 points in 78 games last year.
Sep 8 - 3:17 PM

Frans Nielsen scored his first goal of the playoffs in the New York Islanders' series-losing, 2-1 loss to the Capitals in Washington Monday night.

The Isles disappointed themselves with only 11 shots on goal in this one. The anemic offense paved the way for the Caps to prevail and take the Eastern Conference First Round Series in the maximum seven games. Despite the dearth of offense in the game that mattered most, Nielsen gave the Isles a chance after he took a pass from Thomas Hickey and let go a soft wrist shot that found its way between Washington goalie Braden Holtby's skates to make it 1-1 in the third period. The Caps would win this game, though, on a goal by Evgeny Kuznetsov with 7:18 remaining in regulation time.
Apr 27 - 11:09 PM

"I feel pretty good out there, so I guess I'm going to test it out tomorrow, do some more battle drills and make sure it's all good," Nielsen said on Monday. Islanders coach Jack Capuano hasn't given odds on the chances of Nielsen returning.
