The New Jersey Devils lost Game 2 with a bad 10 minutes in the second period.
The Lightning scored four times in the second as the Devils crumbled in losing 5-3. "We had a bad 10 minutes or so and it cost us," Greene said. "We gotta be better on the PK there. Give up two net-front goals there. Besides that, we battled really hard. We had a really good third period. But we can’t give up chances like that. We have to be a little more desperate in front there, and make sure our PK comes up big, because we’re going to have to kill a few off. Obviously we had a really good kill in the first (period). Really, really good kill. I thought it gave us momentum, and then it took away from us in the second." The Devils trail the series 2-0 and will look to get back in it when the two teams play in New Jersey Monday for Game 3. Apr 15 - 8:25 AM

Andy Greene got into the first fight of his career on Tuesday.

Greene battled the Islanders' Brock Nelson at the end of the first period. "I don’t know, it just happened so far," Greene said of the incident. "We were just battling hard in front of the net. He asked me to go, I said sure and then I blacked out after that. Don’t really know what happened. We’ve been battling hard against each other for quite a few years. It was a heat of the moment thing, it wasn’t a staged thing. It was just two guys playing hard in front for each other’s teams. It was fun to do. I’ve got to look at the tape." Greene has two goals, nine points, and 13 penalty minutes in 42 contests. He doesn't expect to get into more fights.

Andy Greene collected an assist in the Devils' 2-1 overtime loss to Montreal on Thursday.

Greene has two goals and six points in 30 games in 2017-18. That kind of offensive production is to be expected from Greene, so we don't see him picking up the pace as the campaign wears on.

The New Jersey Devils surrendered their 12th shorthanded goal of the season Thursday night.

No team has given up more shorthanded markers in 2016-17. To make matters worse, that shorthanded goal proved to be an insurance policy for Pittsburgh in the third period as the Penguins went on to earn a 7-4 win over the Devils. "It’s embarrassing, yeah, it’s all of the above," Devils captain Andy Greene said. "We have to know the situations. We just have to make better plays, that’s what it comes down to. Not high-risk plays. Just better plays. Move our feet better. Put guys in better positions."

Andy Greene suited up in his 700th career NHL game on Sunday.

Unfortunately for Greene, the Devils dropped a 2-1 OT decision to the Stars, but that won't take away from the accomplishment. "Yeah, it’s obviously a lot of games," said Greene. "When you first come in the league, all you’re trying to do is make it and get that first game. And once you get that first game, it’s ‘How do I stick here and become a regular and stay in this league?’ A lot of good people early on showed me the ropes and showed me the right way to do things on and off the ice and I’m appreciative of that."
