Daniel Girardi suffered a dislocated pinkie in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final.
The pinkie was popped back into place and he didn't end up missing any playing time over the ailment. He feels healthy otherwise, so he shouldn't be limited while training this summer. Jun 17 - 11:00 AM

Dan Girardi admittedly spent some time Thursday "stewing" over the turnover that led to an overtime loss for the Rangers in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final.

But some leisure time in Los Angeles since Wednesday and some encouraging words from teammates has him all but over the turnover, he said. Girardi says he's psyched for Game 2 in LA today. "I think obviously whenever you make a play like that, that it costs the game, you’re gonna feel lower than you’ve ever felt before, to tell you the truth," Girardi said after the Rangers skated Friday at Staples Center. "I think it’s great when the guys rally around you. That could happen to anyone, and that’s the type of team we are. "Everyone’s got each other’s back and we’re hopefully going to build off that. … I think I stewed about it a little (Thursday), but today’s a new day and we have a chance to win Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals."

The New York Rangers 7-4 loss to Montreal on Tuesday was reminiscent of the franchise's past struggles at the Bell Centre.

"Yeah, it was a bad deja vu of the days we used to come in here and it would be a gong show," defenseman Dan Girardi agreed. The Rangers had an opportunity to eliminate Montreal with a victory, but the silver lining is that they'll have another chance to advance to the Stanley Cup Final at home on Thursday.
May 28 - 11:24 AM

Daniel Girardi drew an assist and was a plus-three on Sunday.

Girardi has been outstanding on the blueline for the Rangers during the post-season as he leads the NHL in blocked shots with 48 and is tied for third in hits with 58. In addition, he has a goal and seven points in 18 games and is now even in the plus/minus category.
May 26 - 8:20 AM

Daniel Girardi is tied for the NHL lead in blocked shots with 40.

May 18 - 9:54 AM

Daniel Girardi and Ryan McDonagh continue to excel against the Flyers top line.

Claude Giroux, Scott Hartnell and Jakub Voracek combined for only one goal and three assists in four regular season games with Hartnell setting up Andrew MacDonald on the power play for the only Flyers goal in Game 1 of the playoffs. If the duo of Girardi and McDonagh continue their outstanding play, the Flyers are going to have a tough time advancing.
Apr 20 - 8:28 AM

Daniel Girardi had a goal and an assist in the Rangers' 4-3 overtime win on Monday.

Girardi is more of a defensive defenseman, but he has chipped in offensively with five goals and 22 points in 73 games this season. He inked a six-year, $33 million extension on Feb. 28.
Mar 25 - 10:07 AM

Daniel Girardi has inked a six-year, $33 million extension with the New York Rangers.

That's identical to what Girardi was reportedly looking for in a contract extension and immediately ends the trade speculation surrounding him. It also represents a sizable, but predictable raise from his previous four-year, $13.3 million contract. Girardi has tremendous value to the Rangers, as they've demonstrated, but as a defensive defenseman, his worth to fantasy owners in standard leagues is limited at best.
Feb 28 - 4:59 PM

The New York Rangers are still negotiating a contract extension with Daniel Girardi.

If Girardi doesn't re-sign soon, then the Rangers will reportedly attempt to trade him rather than risk losing him as an unrestricted free agent over the summer. Earlier reports suggested that Girardi was looking for a six-year, $33 million deal.
Feb 26 - 10:05 AM

Daniel Girardi is reportedly looking for a six-year deal worth about $33 million.

Girardi is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. He's primarily a defensive defenseman, although he also has chipped in 15 points in 52 games this season. The Rangers have reportedly made him two counter offers. One gives him the contract length he wants, but with an annual cap hit closer to $5 million and one exceeds the annual salary he wants, but will only cover five seasons.

Jan 23 - 9:43 AM

Daniel Girardi recorded two assists in Sunday's 4-1 win over Washington.

Girardi snapped a seven-game point drought. He doesn't have much fantasy value in standard leagues with 14 points in 51 games. However, he's typically worth taking a look at in leagues that value hits and blocked shots.

Daniel Girardi had a maintenance day on Saturday but is expected to play on Sunday.

Girardi is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. He has three goals and 12 points in 46 games with a minus-five rating. Put him in your lineup at your own risk although he is good in real time stats with 111 hits and 79 blocked shots.
