Dan Girardi returned from an ankle injury and scored his fourth of the season Monday.
The defenseman had been out of action since Tuesday and scored shorthanded to tie the game at 1. He has 11 points this season with a plus-seven rating and while he is a solid defender, he does not have a lot of fantasy value in traditional pools. Feb 13 - 10:53 PM

He declared himself good to go after skating in the morning with some teammates. Girardi missed two games after he blocked a shot against Anaheim.

Dan Girardi (ankle) practiced with the team on Sunday ahead of Monday's game with Columbus.

Girardi missed the last two games with the ailment, but this is the second straight day he's hit the ice. He's still questionable for the game tomorrow, but he's certainly trending in the right direction. Stay tuned.

The New York Rangers are hoping that Dan Girardi (ankle) will be able to practice Sunday.

Girardi skated on his own Saturday and has missed the last two games since blocking a shot from the stick of Ryan Getzlaf Tuesday. The Rangers play Columbus Monday and Girardi will be questionable for that one. He has 10 points, 87 hits and 132 blocked shots in 49 games this season. Adjust your lineup accordingly.

Dan Girardi (stitches in ankle) missed practice on Friday and is doubtful for Saturday's match with Colorado.

Girardi already missed Thursday's match with Nashville due to the ailment. Should he go on to miss Saturday's game, his next chance to play will be Monday against Columbus. Though given the Rangers' schedule, he may not return until Thursday's rivalry game with the Islanders. Consider him day-to-day for now regardless.
Feb 10 - 1:48 PM

Dan Girardi will miss Thursday's match against the Predators with a lower body injury suffered from blocking a shot in Tuesday's game with the Ducks.

Such is life for defenders who always put their bodies on the line. Girardi however has been rather durable in his career, only once missing more than two games in a season, which includes five seasons of playing all 82 games. Through 49 games this season he has posted 10 points with 87 hits and 132 blocks.
Feb 9 - 12:52 PM

With his 10th point collected in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Flames, Dan Girardi has reached the double-digit point mark for the 10th straight season.

Quite a remarkable feat for the defensive defender, who's seventh assist of the season helped him reach the mark. Still, he shouldn't be on your fantasy radar.
Feb 5 - 5:10 PM

Dan Girardi has 123 blocked shots through 45 games this season.

That's good for fourth place in that category, behind only Erik Karlsson, Calvin de Haan, and Kris Russell. Girardi has never been a major contributor in many of the popular fantasy categories, but one thing he has done fairly consistently throughout his career is get in front of shots. In fact you'd have to go all the way back to 2008-09 to find the last season where Girardi didn't finish in the top-10 in blocks.
Jan 27 - 6:20 PM

Dan Girardi appears to be playing Saturday night.

That means that his precautionary scratch will probably come on Sunday at Edmonton. If it works out like that then Adam Clendening could be facing the Oilers.

Dan Girardi will be scratched from Sunday's match with the Jets.

Coach Alain Vigneault notes that this is just a rest day for the veteran defender. Through nine games he has two goals with five points with 17 blocks and 18 hits. Not too shabby at all.

Dan Girardi netted a goal in the Rangers' 5-0 victory over St. Louis on Tuesday.

Girardi has two goals and four points in seven games. Although that is a solid start offensively, it's probably best to pencil him in for around 20 points this season.

Dan Girardi made his presence felt in his return to the lineup on Sunday night, as he scored the game winning goal in the third period.

Dan Girardi will return to the Rangers' blue line for Sunday's match with Arizona.

Girardi has an assist with three hits and blocks in two games this season. He'll be taking Adam Clendening's spot as well. With such a short ledger today, might as well play the veteran if you have him.

Dan Girardi (groin) felt good after participating in Friday's practice.

"Just have to see how I feel (Saturday)," Girardi said. "It was my first real skate." As previously noted, Girardi might end up playing this weekend, but he's unlikely to play in both games. With that in mind, he might simply be kept out of Saturday's game in favor of using him on Sunday after he's gotten a little bit more time to recover.

Dan Girardi (groin) remains questionable for this weekend.

The Rangers are scheduled to play against Washington on Saturday and Arizona on Sunday. It's possible that Girardi will play in one of those contests, but Rangers coach Alain Vigneault doubts he'll appear in both halves of that back-to-back set.
