Daniel Girardi played in his 600th game on Sunday.
Girardi also became the 21st player to participate in at least 600 games with the New York Rangers. Since making his debut in the 2006-07 campaign, Girardi has emerged as a valuable all-around defenseman. He excels defensively and can contribute with the puck as well, although he's not great in standard leagues given that he's only once reached the 30-point mark. He has two goals and eight points in 31 contests this season. Dec 22 - 8:59 AM

Daniel Girardi scored the game-winning goal in a 2-0 victory over Edmonton on Sunday.

Daniel Girardi returned to play on Saturday after he was hit by Evgeni Malkin.

Girardi said he was hurt in the shoulder and chest and that it was not a hit to the head as he returned to the game in the overtime after being injured at the 13:47 mark of the third period. "I feel OK," Girardi said. "You don’t see a guy coming it hurts a little, but he caught me in the chest, so that’s standard. You get hit a lot in the game." Girardi owners can breathe a sigh of relief.

Daniel Girardi has logged at least 30 minutes of ice time in three consecutive games.

Girardi has been leaned on heavily with Ryan McDonagh (shoulder) on the sidelines. The last defenseman to log at least 30 minutes in three straight contests was Brian Leetch in 2000. Leetch went on a run of eight games where he reached that mark.

Dan Girardi played 34:50 in the Rangers’ 1-0 shootout loss to the Jets on Saturday night.

We point Girardi out here because New York played literally the entire game with four defensemen, so it was quite the accomplishment to even earn a point. Kevin Klein (foot) and Ryan McDonagh (shoulder) both were knocked out in the first. Girardi also had four shots on goal and seven blocks. Marc Staal had 29:33 of ice time and two penalty minutes.

Daniel Girardi (leg) will be in the Rangers' lineup on Tuesday.

Girardi was questionable after blocking a shot on Sunday. He's a big part of the Rangers' defense, but he isn't a top blueliner from an offensive standpoint.

Daniel Girardi suffered a dislocated pinkie in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final.

The pinkie was popped back into place and he didn't end up missing any playing time over the ailment. He feels healthy otherwise, so he shouldn't be limited while training this summer.
Jun 17 - 11:00 AM

Dan Girardi admittedly spent some time Thursday "stewing" over the turnover that led to an overtime loss for the Rangers in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final.

But some leisure time in Los Angeles since Wednesday and some encouraging words from teammates has him all but over the turnover, he said. Girardi says he's psyched for Game 2 in LA today. "I think obviously whenever you make a play like that, that it costs the game, you’re gonna feel lower than you’ve ever felt before, to tell you the truth," Girardi said after the Rangers skated Friday at Staples Center. "I think it’s great when the guys rally around you. That could happen to anyone, and that’s the type of team we are. "Everyone’s got each other’s back and we’re hopefully going to build off that. … I think I stewed about it a little (Thursday), but today’s a new day and we have a chance to win Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals."

The New York Rangers 7-4 loss to Montreal on Tuesday was reminiscent of the franchise's past struggles at the Bell Centre.

"Yeah, it was a bad deja vu of the days we used to come in here and it would be a gong show," defenseman Dan Girardi agreed. The Rangers had an opportunity to eliminate Montreal with a victory, but the silver lining is that they'll have another chance to advance to the Stanley Cup Final at home on Thursday.

May 18 - 9:54 AM

Daniel Girardi and Ryan McDonagh continue to excel against the Flyers top line.

Claude Giroux, Scott Hartnell and Jakub Voracek combined for only one goal and three assists in four regular season games with Hartnell setting up Andrew MacDonald on the power play for the only Flyers goal in Game 1 of the playoffs. If the duo of Girardi and McDonagh continue their outstanding play, the Flyers are going to have a tough time advancing.
