Nov 27 - 10:06 AM

Patrick Kaleta will be back in uniform for the Sabres on Wednesday against Winnipeg.

"I'm just excited to play my first home game in a long time," said the Angola native, who hasn't played at home since Oct. 10, 2013. "Just to play at home for me is special, for obvious reasons. It means a lot to me just to be able to play a game for Buffalo and in Buffalo. We could sit here and talk about that for about an hour, but you guys don’t know how much it means to me just to be able to put on the jersey." Kaleta, who may play at center, has skated in just one games this year.

Patrick Kaleta and Andre Benoit will be healthy scrateches against Washington on Saturday night.

Kaleta has suited up just once this season, whereas Benoit, who's suited up 14 tiems, is a minus-12 on the season. So it's no surprise that they're still in the stands.

Patrick Kaleta didn't practice Thursday because he was still stranded in his Hamburg home.

He was snowed in for Tuesday night's against San Jose. The Sabres had their Friday game versus the New York Rangers postponed, so Kaleta will have an extra day to try to dig himself out and get ready to travel with the team Washington for Saturday's match-up.
Nov 21 - 7:54 AM

Patrick Kaleta will miss Tuesday's game for snow-related reasons.

Nov 18 - 5:13 PM

Patrick Kaleta was activated from the IL on Thursday November 13.

He played an NHL contest for the first time since Oct. 10, 2013. Kaleta suffered a torn ACL last season after he was demoted to the minors, but he competed hard at training camp to get back on Buffalo's roster. He took a puck to the face in the preseason, which kept him on the shelf to start the 2014-15 campaign. Kaleta had two penalty minutes and a minus-2 rating in 8:06 of ice time in the Sabres' 6-3 loss to Minnesota.

"I just try to stay positive. I need to be positive to be a good teammate," Kaleta said. "I'm upset that I can't play, but I have to help out however I can." He has been practicing with full contact and is itching to make his season debut. Kaleta has been sidelined since the preseason when he blocked a shot with his face.
Nov 5 - 8:20 AM

Patrick Kaleta (face) is back to practicing fully with the Sabres.

"You talk to him, he'd be ready tonight," coach Ted Nolan said, "but we've just got to make sure." It sounds like Kaleta won't be on the sidelines much longer. He suffered facial injuries, including several broken bones, when he was hit by a puck in the preseason. Consider him day-to-day.
Oct 31 - 10:04 AM

Patrick Kaleta (face) practiced Monday and he's getting close to returning.

"Close enough that he'll start traveling with the team and get himself accustomed to doing that again," coach Ted Nolan said of Kaleta. "We're looking forward to getting him back. It should be another couple weeks yet but still he's getting real close." Kaleta skated with a no-contact sweater on during the session. He took a slap shot to the face on Sept. 28, which led to several broken bones in his face.

Oct 7 - 5:10 PM

Patrick Kaleta will miss the start of the regular season after he was struck in the face by a slapshot in preseason action on Sunday night against Toronto.

He's projected to miss at least a month, but the injury isn't as bad as it initially looked. When he's healthy again, he may have earned his spot with the Sabres.
