Patrick Kaleta is on the mend from knee surgery and he's expected to attend training camp with the Buffalo Sabres.
He was demoted to the minors, where he suffered a torn MCL, in November. He served a 10-game suspension for an illegal check and suited up in just five games for the Sabres in 2013-14. "Whatever happened last year happened," GM Tim Murray said. "I just expect him to come in here and act like a pro. Once we hit the ice, then I'll start evaluating him." Jun 20 - 7:52 AM

Patrick Kaleta suffered a torn ACL during an AHL game with Rochester on Friday and he's done for the rest of the season.

Kaleta was reportedly going to rejoin the Sabres for practice on Monday with a very good possibility of playing on Thursday versus the New York Rangers. That potential return won't happen now and he'll have a long rehab ahead of him.

Patrick Kaleta sustained an injury Friday night in an AHL game.

Kaleta, who is trying to resurrect his career in Rochester, may have broken his right ankle on a play while driving to the net. Too bad, as reports had him playing some pretty good hockey as of late.

Patrick Kaleta cleared waivers, meaning the Buffalo Sabres were able to demote him to the AHL's Rochester Americans.

Aside from generating PIMs, Kaleta's not particularly useful in fantasy. Kaleta's current contract runs through 2014-15, so it wouldn't be shocking to see him in the NHL again.

The waiver period for Patrick Kaleta expries on noon Sunday.

In other words, if an NHL team does not put in a waiver claim by noon Sunday, Kaleta will remain in the Sabre organization and will be assigned to Rochester of the AHL. We do not expect Kaleta to be claimed.

The Sabres have waived Patrick Kaleta.

So much for being anxious to make a difference on a slumping Sabres' squad. GM Darcy Regier is hoping that Kaleta will clear waivers and re-define his career in Rochester. "This was a move we thought was necessary to help Pat change his game and preserve his career in this league," said Regier. We shall see.

Patrick Kaleta is anxious to return to action after sitting out 10 games due to a suspension.

He will be eligible to play Saturday night against the Ducks and hopes to provide his slumping team with a spark. "I'm just going to try and infuse some energy in the lineup and bring hard work, hard work and hard work," Kaleta said. "Try to play passionate and like I said bring some hard work." It will take more than Kaleta's hard work over 10-12 minutes of ice time to elevate the Sabres based on what we've seen to date from this struggling squad.

Patrick Kaleta won't appeal his 10-game suspension to an independent arbitrator, according to multiple sources.

The Sabres agitator is eligible to return on Nov. 2 after he committed an illegal check to the head of Columbus defenseman Jack Johnson back on Oct. 12.

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman has upheld Patrick Kaleta's 10-game suspension.

Kaleta has one week to decide if he wants to appeal to a neutral arbitrator.

Patrick Kaleta is expected to get a ruling on his suspension appeal on Wednesday from NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman.

He was at practice Tuesday after returning from New York to plead his case. If Bettman upholds Kaleta's 10-game ban then the Sabres agitator could appeal to a neutral arbitrator.

Patrick Kaleta isn't eligible to play while he's appealing his 10-game suspension.

Kaleta has already served four games and will be allowed to return on Nov. 2 unless his suspension is reduced. He's a repeat offender and being punished for hitting Columbus' Jack Johnson in the head. "I've been changing my game over the past little while. Everyone who's watched the Sabres and has paid close attention has seen it," Kaleta said. "Like I said, I just need to keep continuing to get better and do what's best for the team and try to be a positive influence on what's going on here."

According to Bob McKenzie, the first appeal goes to NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and if he upholds ruling then it can go to a neutral arbitrator.

Patrick Kaleta has been suspended for 10 games for an illegal check to the head of Columbus defenseman Jack Johnson on Oct. 10.

He has already served two games of his ban while waiting for Tuesday's in-person hearing. Kaleta is a repeat offender under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and he will forfeit $152,439.00 in salary. He'll be eligible to return on Nov. 2 when the Sabres host Anaheim.

Buffalo Sabres pest Patrick Kaleta will be suspended until he faces a Tuesday disciplinary hearing, in which he might be suspended some more.

His hit on Jack Johnson could land him an extensive unpaid vacation, but we won't know until next week. Most fantasy owners shouldn't be too broken up about it, especially since Kaleta's not on a team that will help him pick up cheap points.
