Brandon Dubinsky (fractured orbital bone) considers himself very close to returning.

Dubinsky hopes to make his return on Tuesday, but if that doesn't happen then he said there's a "1,000 percent" chance he'll make his return on Friday instead. He last played on Dec. 12 due to the injury. When he does return, he's projected to play on the third line with Matt Calvert and Oliver Bjorkstrand.

Brandon Dubinsky (fractured orbital bone) skated on Monday at practice.

Dubinsky skated on the third line between Matt Calvert and Oliver Bjorkstrand. He has been out of action since Dec. 12, but this is an encouraging sign that a return could be very close.

Brandon Dubinsky, who is sidelined with a fractured orbital bone, is no longer with the Blue Jackets on their road trip.

Dubinsky's agent, Kurt Overhardt, said that his client temporarily parted ways with the Blue Jackets due to "medical issues" and he'll rejoin them after the All-Star break. Dubinsky had appeared to be close to returning and was practicing with the club, so the decision for him to leave now seemed odd. There was also a report from The Athletic that he left due to "ongoing personal issues," but Overhardt rejected that report.
Jan 24 - 12:23 PM

Brandon Dubinsky (fractured orbital bone) was on the ice Saturday.

He worked out with a couple of other injured Blue Jackets before the rest of the team took to the ice. Dubinsky should be out at least another few weeks as his diagnosis when injured on December 12 was six-eight weeks. He has three goals and 12 points in 31 games and does add penalty minutes to his totals when healthy.
Jan 7 - 8:21 AM

Brandon Dubinsky, who has a fractured orbital bone, has been moved to the injured reserve list.

That makes sense given that Dubinsky will miss the next six-to-eight weeks. The good news in all of this is that Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen said that Dubinsky's long-term vision hasn't been impacted by this injury.

Brandon Dubinsky found the back of the net in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Dubinsky opened the scoring at the 5:35 mark of the first period, as he scored a beautiful breakaway goal on his backhand. Unfortunately for the Jackets, it's the only offense they'd be able to muster. Dubinsky has now recorded a point in four of his last five games after having just two points in his first 12 contests.

Brandon Dubinsky is on a three-game point streak.

Dubinsky registered an assist in Columbus' 5-3 loss to keep that run going. He got off to a slow start this season, to the point where Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella took away his 'A' to take some pressure off him. Whether or not that's helped is hard to say, but his production has certainly ticked upwards lately. Still, he has just a goal and five points in 15 games this season.

Brandon Dubinsky will be ready to play Saturday against the Lightning.

He left Thursday's game with blurred vision after being gouged in the eye by Florida's Keith Yandle. Dubinsky was back at practice on Friday and appears to be OK. If you need him, you can keep him in your lineup.

Brandon Dubinsky recorded an assist in a 7-3 win against Florida on Thursday.

It was just Dubinsky's third assist in 13 games this season. He also hasn't found the back of the net so far. Dubinsky is usually good for 40-50 points if he can stay healthy, but he might end up finishing below that range this season. He recently lost his alternate captain role as Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella felt he'd improve without the added pressure so we'll see what the results are in the weeks to come.

Brandon Dubinsky has lost his role as an alternate captain.

Dubinsky had served in that role since 2012-13, but Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella felt the forward's performance would be better without the added pressure of being part of the leadership group. "I'm human; obviously, it hurts a little bit to have that role taken away," Dubinsky said. "For me to say I don't really care would be a complete lie, and you guys know me better than that. It was a tough conversation, without a doubt." He went on to admit that he was pissed off, but that he was moving forward. Jack Johnson received the 'A' as a result of the change.
