Brandon Dubinsky's surgery on Wednesday was to both sides of his groin.
Both sides of the groin needed the surgery as one side was worse than the other. The original prognosis was six weeks but since the surgery was more involved, it may take Dubinsky an extra week to recover. Reserve him for now and assume he will return in mid-late November. Oct 12 - 7:15 AM

Oct 7 - 2:18 PM

Brandon Dubinsky (undisclosed) skated on his own Monday.

He was held out of practice for a second straight day, but insists that he'll be fine. Dubinsky's ailment is considered to be minor, but the Jackets are being cautious with his recovery.
Sep 30 - 5:45 PM

Brandon Dubinsky did not play at all in the third period Saturday against the Penguins because of "soreness."

This doesn’t appear to be anything to worry about, but NHL coaches tend to be coy about injury details, so it’s worth mentioning. "It was more just managing him," Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards said. "Just soreness. There was no reason to push it. If it’s the regular season, he probably comes out with us." Dubinsky is a valuable player in fantasy leagues as someone who can score 20 goals and 50 points, and do it with around 100 penalty minutes.
Sep 27 - 7:23 PM

It sounds like re-signing Brandon Dubinsky was a relatively painless process for both sides.

"They called us on July 1," Dubinsky said. "We called them back on July 2. Everybody enjoyed their Fourth of July weekend and we hammered it out this week. They made a generous offer. We countered, but we came to an agreement pretty quickly. It was a good situation, and there wasn't really a bad moment with it." Dubinsky inked a six-year, $35.1 million extension with the Columbus Blue Jackets that will start with the 2015-16 campaign. He's one of the Blue Jackets' leaders and now that he's locked up, he might start the 2014-15 campaign as their captain.
Jul 14 - 9:33 AM

Brandon Dubinsky has inked a six-year, $35.1 million contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Dubinsky had one season left on his four-year, $16.8 million deal before he would have been eligible to become an unrestricted free agent. His new contract comes with a no-movement clause. Dubinsky will continue to provide the Blue Jackets with a blend of physical play and skill. He had 18 goals, 50 points, and 98 penalty minutes in 76 games last season.

Brandon Dubinsky had minor surgery on his ankle.

It apparently wasn't anything structural. Dubinsky recorded one goal and five assists in Round 1's playoff loss to Pittsburgh.
May 8 - 5:42 PM

After challenging the Pittsburgh Penguins throughout the first round, Brandon Dubinsky is upbeat about the Blue Jackets going forward.

Columbus was eliminated in Game 6, but not before they scored three unanswered goals in the third period to nearly overcome the Penguins' 4-0 edge. "This isn't how anybody in this room wanted this to end," Dubinsky said. "All 27 of us believed we could beat that team, and we still feel that way. I want to play them again tomorrow, but I know that’s not possible. We came a long way. We grew a lot as a team. We didn't go anywhere near as far as we wanted to go, but I can say it and mean it: I'm proud of these guys, and I'm excited as (heck) for the future here." Dubinsky had a goal and six points in six games in the playoffs.
Apr 29 - 9:50 AM

Brandon Dubinsky, who has played well in defending Pittsburgh superstar Sidney Crosby during the Blue Jackets' first-round playoff series against the Penguins, missed Friday's team practice.

No worries about him playing Saturday in Pittsburgh, though. The Blue Jackets said Dubinsky was simply sitting out for maintenance reasons.
Apr 26 - 9:49 AM

Brandon Dubinsky has done a great job of limiting the damage Sidney Crosby can do in Columbus' first round series against Pittsburgh.

The Blue Jackets have tried to put out Dubinsky against Crosby as much as possible. Crosby has four assists in four playoff games, but he hasn't found the back of the net yet and has a minus-three rating. "(Crosby) is the best player in the game, no question," Dubinsky said. "He's got everything in his game. He's strong. He's fast. You’re not ever going to shut down a guy like that, he’s just too good of a player. But I'm getting a lot of help out there, and I've made a commitment that I'm going to leave every ounce of energy I have out there every night for this club, and we'll see where it goes."
Apr 25 - 6:11 AM

Brandon Dubinsky had a goal and an assist in Columbus' 4-3 overtime victory on Wednesday.

Dubinsky scored with 24 seconds left in regulation time to force this contest to overtime. He now has six points in four playoff games.
Apr 24 - 9:15 AM

Brandon Dubinsky had two assists in Columbus' 4-3 loss on Monday.

That gives Dubinsky four points in three playoff games in 2014. He had 16 goals and 50 points in 76 contests this season.
Apr 22 - 9:42 AM

Brandon Dubinsky has 17 hits in the first two games of the series against Pittsburgh.

Dubinsky has played mostly against Sidney Crosby and the matchup will be easier in Games 3 and 4 as the Blue Jackets will have the last change. Coach Todd Richards could not play Dubinsky all the time against Sid the Kid as there were too many penalties and he could not manage it. "I've seen a more-focused Dubinsky," Richards said. "He's taken it to another level. This is the big stage. The big players want to be on the big stage. You want your opportunities in the big moments, and there are plenty of those this time of year."
Apr 21 - 6:59 AM

Brandon Dubinsky tried to find the silver lining after Columbus blew a two-goal lead against Pittsburgh in Game 1.

"I liked the way our guys fought and played," Dubinsky said. "They made one more play than us. That's the way the playoffs go some times. We can't give them odd-man rushes. We gave them too many and they made us pay. But our guys know what to expect now, and they'll come ready to battle on Saturday." Columbus was a long shot to win this series going into the playoffs and they might have lost their best chance to get under the Penguins' skin by coughing up that lead. For his part, Dubinsky had an assist in the 4-3 loss.
