Brandon Dubinsky, who has a fractured orbital bone, has been moved to the injured reserve list.
That makes sense given that Dubinsky will miss the next six-to-eight weeks. The good news in all of this is that Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen said that Dubinsky's long-term vision hasn't been impacted by this injury. Dec 13 - 1:15 PM

Dec 13 - 1:01 PM

Brandon Dubinsky has suffered a fractured orbital bone.

Dubinsky sustained the injury during a fight with Edmonton's Zack Kassian during Tuesday's game. Dubinsky has needed stitches and there's also a lot of swelling. At this time it's not clear if surgery is a possibility.
Dec 13 - 12:36 PM

Brandon Dubinsky found the back of the net in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Dubinsky opened the scoring at the 5:35 mark of the first period, as he scored a beautiful breakaway goal on his backhand. Unfortunately for the Jackets, it's the only offense they'd be able to muster. Dubinsky has now recorded a point in four of his last five games after having just two points in his first 12 contests.
Nov 10 - 9:46 PM

Brandon Dubinsky is on a three-game point streak.

Dubinsky registered an assist in Columbus' 5-3 loss to keep that run going. He got off to a slow start this season, to the point where Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella took away his 'A' to take some pressure off him. Whether or not that's helped is hard to say, but his production has certainly ticked upwards lately. Still, he has just a goal and five points in 15 games this season.
Nov 7 - 10:30 AM

Brandon Dubinsky will be ready to play Saturday against the Lightning.

He left Thursday's game with blurred vision after being gouged in the eye by Florida's Keith Yandle. Dubinsky was back at practice on Friday and appears to be OK. If you need him, you can keep him in your lineup.
Nov 4 - 11:41 AM

Brandon Dubinsky recorded an assist in a 7-3 win against Florida on Thursday.

It was just Dubinsky's third assist in 13 games this season. He also hasn't found the back of the net so far. Dubinsky is usually good for 40-50 points if he can stay healthy, but he might end up finishing below that range this season. He recently lost his alternate captain role as Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella felt he'd improve without the added pressure so we'll see what the results are in the weeks to come.
Nov 3 - 4:27 AM

Brandon Dubinsky has lost his role as an alternate captain.

Dubinsky had served in that role since 2012-13, but Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella felt the forward's performance would be better without the added pressure of being part of the leadership group. "I'm human; obviously, it hurts a little bit to have that role taken away," Dubinsky said. "For me to say I don't really care would be a complete lie, and you guys know me better than that. It was a tough conversation, without a doubt." He went on to admit that he was pissed off, but that he was moving forward. Jack Johnson received the 'A' as a result of the change.
Oct 27 - 10:47 AM

Brandon Dubinsky (personal) was able to play Wednesday night.

Dubinsky didn't practice Monday due to a personal matter, but he was available to suit up against Buffalo. He registered an assist, four shots, three hits and two blocks in a 5-1 win over the Sabres.
Oct 26 - 2:57 AM

Consider him day-to-day for now. Columbus doesn't play until Wednesday against Buffalo.
Oct 23 - 11:23 AM

Brandon Dubinsky played his first preseason game on Saturday and is a go for Friday's opener.

The pesky center played well on Saturday. Look for 40-45 points this season and around 100 penalty minutes. Draft him accordingly.
Oct 1 - 7:22 AM

Brandon Dubinsky (wrist) will make his pre-season debut on Saturday.

Dubinsky has been held out of previous games as he is recovering from off-season surgery on his wrist which occurred in May. He will line up with Pierre-Luc Dubois and Matt Calvert. Look for a 40-45 point season from Dubinsky but he could be the only center in the NHL with 100-plus penalty minutes, making him an asset in leagues that use the PIM category.
Sep 30 - 7:29 AM

Brandon Dubinsky (wrist) participated in contact drills on Friday.

Up until that skate, Dubinsky hadn't taken contact due to the injury. He underwent surgery in May and doesn't have a timetable for his return. It's consequently not clear if he'll be available for Columbus' Oct. 6 season opener, but this is an encouraging sign.
Sep 22 - 12:21 PM

Brandon Dubinsky's wrist is improving, but he won't place a timetable on his return.

"I;m not going to put any timelines on myself," Dubinsky said Thursday. "It's getting better every day and that's the most important thing. Fortunately, it's fixed. It's just got a little ways to go in terms of mobility and strength, so we'll keep working at it and see where we get to." He won't be rushed into training camp or exhibition games until he is 100 percent and it's unclear at this time if he will be ready for Columbus' season opener on Oct. 6.
Sep 15 - 9:26 AM

Brandon Dubinsky (wrist) won't do much in training camp.

Dubinsky underwent wrist surgery in May. He was supposed to be out for three months, but it sounds like he'll need more time to recover. The 31-year-old had 12 goals and 41 points in 80 games with the Blue Jackets last season. It's unclear if he'll be able to start the regular season on time.
