David Clarkson was among three Maple Leafs players to tally a goal and an assist in the team’s 5-2 win over the Canucks on Saturday night.
After a season to forget, Clarkson has bounced back to be to at least be a factor on the ice. Sure, his eight goals — Saturday via the empty net — and 10 points are nothing special, but outside of 2011-13 with the Devils, Clarkson was a solid bottom-six player with an edge to his game and offensive punch in his skill set. Clarkson was also a plus-four. Joffrey Lupul and Peter Holland were the others to pick up two points apiece. Richard Panik and Jake Gardiner got the other goals in the win. Dec 6 - 10:22 PM

Nov 21 - 10:00 AM

David Clarkson potted a goal for the Maple Leafs in their 6-2 win over the Sabres on Saturday night.

Clarkson is never going to live up to the seven-year, $37.75 million contract he signed prior to last season, but he certainly can’t be much worse than he was in 2013-14. With five goals, he’s already matched last season’s total, and his six points are five shy in points. Phil Kessel also scored his 11th of the season.

David Clarkson tallied a goal in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the New York Islanders.

He has produced two goals and one assist in his past five outings. Clarkson appears to be finding his game and he's looked good on a grinding line with Mike Santorelli and Leo Komarov.

David Clarkson wore a full cage to protect his fractured orbital bone when he skated for half of Thursday's practice.

Sep 28 - 10:22 AM

Toronto Maple Leafs power forward David Clarkson appears to have an issue with his eye/cheekbone.

The 30-year-old is hoping to bounce back from an awful 2013-14 season, so hopefully this isn't an issue that lingers into 2014-15 and mars another campaign. As much as people ridicule the signing, few players can combine respectable goals and grit stats like Clarkson, who might be a nice late bargain if healthy.
Sep 27 - 1:10 PM

David Clarkson had a strong game Friday night against Buffalo while trying to re-establish himself as an NHL power forward.

He registered a "Gordie Howe Hat Trick", scoring a goal, recording an assist and getting in a fight against the Sabres. Unfortunately, Clarkson got the worst of the fight with Cody McCormick; his eye is currently swollen shut. For those of you who have sworn off Clarkson, it may be time to reconsider.

David Clarkson is dealing with an undisclosed injury.

The Maple Leafs haven't offered much in the way of information, except to say that Clarkson's status is day-to-day. Although it's just the start of training camp, we're less than thrilled to see Clarkson already on the sidelines after the disastrous 2013-14 campaign he had.
Sep 19 - 1:59 PM

David Clarkson is eager to get the 2014-15 campaign started after a disappointing first year with Toronto.

He arrived Monday for an informal workout at the MasterCard Centre. "It's easy to have excuses, but you go back to work," said Clarkson. "Everybody goes through tough times, tough days and tough years. From top to bottom, that was something I've never been through. Suspended, injured and to come back injured again trying to play ... it was just a nightmare. You do what you have to in life. I knew what I had to do, get back (to positive habits). That's how you come out of it." He notched five goals, 11 points and 93 penalty minutes in 60 games last campaign.

Aug 25 - 9:20 PM

David Clarkson scored for the first time in 17 games, and his fifth marker of the year stood tall as the winner in Toronto's 3-2 win over Calgary on Tuesday night.

Clarkson helped the Leafs snap an eight game losing skid, and did so while playing a team-low 10:40 on Tuesday night. Clarkson has 11 points in 55 games this season, a colossal disappointment for the one-time 30 goal scorer and owner of a long-term lucrative contract.
