Cory Emmerton picked up a goal and an assist in Detroit's 5-1 win over St. Louis Thursday.

Cory Emmerton hasn't fully recovered from the broken finger he sustained on Oct. 12 while playing in the Finnish Elite League.

Emmerton had surgery to put in a plate. "The plate makes it harder on the tendons to move," Emmerton said "It doesn't feel bad or hurt, but it's so stiff it doesn't have the range of motion to protect itself. I've been learning to do things left-handed." The injury combined with the lockout is making it hard for Emmerton to develop his game after he established himself with the Red Wings last season by playing in 71 NHL games.

Cory Emmerton (finger) could find his fourth line job in jeopardy if the NHL and NHLPA settle their dispute shortly.

Emmerton broke his finger during a Finnish Elite League game after blocking a shot. He will unable to play for the next four-plus weeks so if the lockout is settled shortly, Jan Mursak or Damien Brunner will have a leg up on Emmerton for a spot in the Red Wings lineup. Emmerton had six goals and 10 points in 71 games with the Red Wings last season and should not be on anyone's radar in fantasy drafts unless he is a relative or good friend of yours.

Cory Emmerton broke his finger while playing hockey in Finland.

Emmerton summed up what happened in a tweet, "1 period 1 shot 1 blocked shot 1 broken finger, great stats Cory." This injury could end up hurting the Detroit Red Wings if the lockout ends soon. Under normal circumstances, he would be a bottom-six forward for Detroit.

Cory Emmerton might make his playoff debut on Wednesday.

Cory Emmerton was a healthy scratch on Tuesday.

Red Wings coach Mike Babcock wanted to get Jan Mursak into a game, but he's still happy with Emmerton. "One thing Cory Emmerton does all the time, he looks after his linemates," Babcock said on Tuesday. "He's real good down low. He's a center even though he's playing the wing. He looks after them. When you take him out, then you take a guy who's good defensively, who covers up for other people running around. So we don't have that tonight." Emmerton will probably be back in the lineup on Thursday.

The Detroit Red Wings have put Cory Emmerton at center with rookies Gustav Nyquist and Joakim Andersson on his wings.

The All-Rookie line was put together as Darren Helm sat out Friday with a groin injury. The trio played only six minutes together on the fourth line as the Red Wings took a lot of penalties in the third period. The line had played only 29 NHL games heading into Friday with Emmerton playing 27, while Nyquist and Andersson were eaching playing in their second NHL game. "I thought the Emmerton line was good," coach Mike Babcock said. "Nyquist gave us a spark; Andersson was good, made good decisions."

Cory Emmerton's three-point night on Saturday came at a very opportune time for him.

Emmerton lost his spot on the Red Wings' lineup to Chris Conner, but Emmerton has a chance to take it back while Conner recovers from a fractured hand. Don't expect Emmerton to have any fantasy value, but he has a decent shot of earning a more permanent spot on one of the Red Wings' bottom two lines.

Cory Emmerton drew into the Detroit lineup on Thursday.

Emmerton had been a healthy scratch for the last seven of eight games but the injury to Chris Conner put him back into the lineup on the fourth line. He played exactly eight minutes and was minus-one with three shots on goal. He has no fantasy value at this time.
