Jannik Hansen practiced on the fourth line Saturday.

Hansen had played the last three games on the first line with Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski but with the imminent return of Logan Couture to the lineup, Tomas Hertl returned to his spot on the first unit with Couture practicing at center with the second line. Any fantasy opportunity that Hansen had in the last two weeks have dissipated. He has three assists in 25 games.

Jannik Hansen is now playing with Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski on the top line in San Jose.

That is a big jump from his status as a healthy scratch as recently as Monday. Hansen was put on the top unit when coach Peter DeBoer went to his two veterans and asked them who they wanted to play with. Hansen has only three assists in 24 games this season so he better start getting it together shortly or he will find himself back in the press box as a spectator.

He will be joined in the press box by defenseman Paul Martin and the sidelined Logan Couture.

Jannik Hansen played in his 600th NHL game on Sunday.

It is a nice milestone for the Danish forward who is having a tough season with only two assists in 20 games. He had eight goals and 20 points last year split between San Jose and Vancouver in 43 injury-riddled contests but this has been a huge disappointing season for Hansen who at age 31, could be nearing the end of his NHL career.

Jannik Hansen will be a healthy scratch in Thursday's game against the Boston Bruins.

Hansen was a significant acquisition at last year's trade deadline, but he's been a flop in San Jose so far. This will be his second consecutive game in the press box. He has just one assist in seven games this season. A trade out of San Jose might just be what the doctor ordered to get him going again. Barclay Goodrow and Dylan DeMelo will also be scratched against the Bruins.

Jannik Hansen and Timo Meier will serve as healthy scratches in tonight's game against the Rangers.

Head coach Pete DeBoer is trying to send the team a message. He's clearly not happy with the lack of secondary scoring, so this is his way of shuffling things up. Dylan DeMelo will also watch from the press box on Monday night.
