Jannik Hansen (upper body) said he's returning to the Sharks' lineup on Friday.
Hansen was originally called a game-time decision. It's not clear what the lines will be for San Jose, but it looks like Timo Meier will probably be scratched to make room for Hansen. Mar 24 - 1:03 PM

Jannik Hansen (upper body) is regarded as a game-time decision.

Hansen has missed the Sharks' last two games. He has six goals and 14 points in 34 contests this season.

Jannik Hansen is not out for warmups, indicating he will miss Monday's matchup with the Dallas Stars.

Hansen made the trip to Dallas but won't suit up due to his injury. He only has one point in six games with the Sharks but he was playing well alongside Thornton and Pavelski before succumbing to his injury.
Mar 20 - 8:24 PM

Jannik Hansen (upper body) is doubtful to play Monday.

The Sharks had an optional skate in the morning and Hansen did not participate. He suffered an upper-body injury on Saturday against Anaheim. Hansen has one assist in six games with San Jose.
Mar 20 - 12:49 PM

Despite suffering an upper body injury on Saturday, Jannik Hansen did travel with the Sharks to Dallas for Monday's game.

Which doesn't necessarily mean he'll play. Hansen could still be too sore to enter the lineup, but it does indicate that he won't be out for long. Consider the veteran winger day-to-day, for now.
Mar 19 - 4:52 PM

Jannik Hansen was hurt in the third period Saturday and did not return.

Hansen was apparently clipped in the head by Brandon Montour and was unable to return. Coach Peter DeBoer had no update after the game but Joe Pavelski commented. "I think [Hansen] said he got a stick in the head, or something like that. I don’t really know for sure," Pavelski said. Hansen has six goals and 14 points in 34 games but expect more production from him in the playoffs.
Mar 19 - 6:52 AM

Jannik Hansen has meshed well with Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski on the top line since being acquired from Vancouver.

While Hansen has been limited to an assist in three games, the unit has performed well offensively while he's been with it. That trio is likely going to stick together, but unfortunately Hansen isn't the type of player that's likely to benefit a lot from it in terms of his own offensive production.
Mar 16 - 9:14 AM

Jannik Hansen will play in his first game with the Sharks Thursday night.

He will skate on the top line with Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski. Hansen's presence in the lineup will make Marcus Sorensen a healthy scratch.
Mar 9 - 6:13 PM

Jannik Hansen participated in Wednesday's practice.

San Jose acquired Hansen from Vancouver at the trade deadline, but he wasn't able to immediately join the team due to work visa issues. Now that those are resolved, he should play on Thursday. He's projected to be on the top line with Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski based on the skate.
Mar 8 - 6:26 PM

Jannik Hansen is expected to be in the lineup for his San Jose debut on Thursday.

Coach Pete DeBoer said Hansen is "in the clear" with his work visa. Hansen has six goals and 13 points in 28 games this season.
Mar 6 - 6:50 PM

Coach Peter DeBoer doesn't expect to have Jannik Hansen available to him on Monday against the Jets, either.

Until his U.S. work visa issues are settled, he won't be able to play. Hansen's status is day-to-day for the time being.
Mar 5 - 3:57 PM

Jannik Hansen is not with the Sharks, and thus will not play in Sunday's match against the Wild.

He's still sorting through work visa issues. Consider him day-to-day.
Mar 5 - 3:10 PM

Jannik Hansen is unlikely to play against the Wild on Sunday due to work visa issues.

"It's really day to day. I could get a call in an hour and say he's got clearance, or it could be two days," coach Peter DeBoer said. The lack of clarity indicates the situation is unlikely to resolve itself by game time.
Mar 5 - 2:17 PM

Jannik Hansen and the Sharks are still waiting for word on his work visa paperwork.

Coach Pete DeBoer said: "It's really day-to-day. Could get a call in an hour and say he's got clearance or it could be two days.I don't know." It's remains unclear if Hansen will be ready to play on Sunday.
Mar 4 - 2:09 PM

Jannik Hansen could be a candidate for the top line when he joins the Sharks.

"They want the puck ... and they want someone who’s going to get in there and retrieve pucks so they can have possession," coach Pete DeBoer said of Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski. "I can tell you a guy that doesn't fit would be a guy who is strictly a shooter or who kind of lets other people do the work and just goes to holes." Hansen could easily fill that role once he gets his work visa to play for San Jose. When Hansen and Joonas Donskoi are available to play it is expected to create plenty of competition for roster spots on the Sharks.
