Jannik Hansen scored a goal on Saturday.

Hansen got the opportunity to play with the Sedin twins and made the most of it. He has nine goals and 23 points in 40 games this season. He should finish the season on a strong note if he can stay on the Canucks' top line for the next two weeks.
Apr 14 - 10:29 AM

Jannick Hansen practised on the Canucks' top line Friday while Alex Burrows skated with Ryan Kesler and Zack Kassian, leaving Derek Roy between Mason Raymond and Dale Weise.

While the subtle moves speak of versatility for a Saturday matinee against the Colorado Avalanche in the second stop of a five-game road trip — especially in the absence of injured winger Chris Higgins — it’s a calculated stroke of incentive by head coach Alain Vigneault. Instead of dropping Hansen down the lineup after benching him for the final 9:21 of a 4-1 victory over the Flames, Vigneault moved the Dane up and forced him to be accountable and productive with Henrik and Daniel Sedin. "I wasn’t happy with my game and my compete level," said Hansen. "There wasn’t a whole lot happening for me in both ends of the ice and you want to contribute if you’re not making an offensive play, and I didn’t have a very strong game. We hold each other to a high standard here and expect the best out of everybody if we’re going to go anywhere. "We’re all pretty confident jumping around in the lineup and not ruining any chemistry."

Jannick Hansen was one of three Vancouver Canucks to avoid a -1 rating in Saturday night’s 4-0 loss to the Edmonton Oilers.

Out of the 18 Canucks that dressed, 15 of them had -1 ratings, thus a different set of five players was on the ice during each of the Oilers’ three even strength goals. If that’s not a sign of a team loss, we don’t know what is. On the season, Hansen is tied for third on the team with a +11 rating.
Mar 31 - 5:40 AM

The Vancouver Canucks have won six consecutive games, though they haven't been things of beauty.

"Right now it's not as pretty as a lot of people would like it to be," Vancouver right winger Jannik Hansen said before the team flew to Edmonton, describing the tight-checking, low-risk defensive posture the Canucks have taken. "[But on the road], there's not 15,000 people yelling at you to start carrying play. They want to see back-door tap-ins here, where on the road, you can get back to basics. You can chip pucks out whenever you want and no one is going to get on you."
Mar 30 - 12:37 PM

Jannik Hansen generated some quality offensive chances on Tuesday night in Vancouver’s 1-0 overtime shootout win over Columbus.

Hansen recorded four shots on goal in the victory and was rewarded with a season high 20:25 minutes of ice-time. The speedy winger has really impressed in March, tallying 12 points in 14 games. He’s a definitely a player to keep your eye on as fantasy playoffs approach. Maxim Lapierre scored the game winner in the shootout.
Mar 27 - 12:57 AM

Jannik Hansen had a goal and two assists in Vancouver's 7-4 win over the Nashville Predators on Thursday.

Andrew Ebbett also had a goal and two points Thursday after going scoreless in six contests this season. Alexander Edler, Mason Raymond, and Henrik Sedin each had a goal and an assist. Maxim Lapierre netted his second goal of the season.
Mar 15 - 1:07 AM

Jannik Hansen extended his goal streak to three games, but did so in losing effort as the Canucks fell to the Sharks 3-2 in a shootout on Tuesday.

The speedy winger had just three goals in the first two months of the season, but has picked it up in March with three goals in three games. He now has 12 points in 21 games. Hansen is definitely someone to watch over the next few weeks. He could be of help to those fantasy owners who are looking for a scoring punch.
Mar 6 - 1:12 AM

It was a long but outstanding day for Jannik Hansen Sunday.

The day started out with the birth of his twin sons early Sunday. The Canucks were scheduled to leave for Calgary but their flight was delayed over 12 hours as there was a major snowstorm in the Calgary area but they finally arrived in Calgary. Hansen went out and scored a goal while adding an assist as the Canucks dropped a 4-2 decision to the Flames. Well, it was a great day with exception of the final score for Hansen. He has 11 points in 20 games thus far. Congratulations to Hansen and his wife on the birth of their twins.
Mar 4 - 5:55 AM

Vancouver's Jannik Hansen is still perturbed about the one-game suspension he received last week for a head shot on the Chicago Blackhawks' Marian Hossa.

"You’re trying to play an honest game and play the right way and not step too far over the line," Hansen said/ "I’ve never been suspended. I’ve never had any incidents. I’ve played here for five or six years. I didn’t have anything in the minors. It bothers me you have that on your record now. I’m not going to change my game in any way. I’m still going to play the same way as always. But again, I have that on there now. They can look back at it if something happens in the future."

Feb 22 - 5:41 PM

Jannik Hansen has received a one-game suspension for hitting Marian Hossa in the head on Tuesday.

Hansen will not be available for Thursday's game, but is eligible to play on Friday. He argued that he accidentally made contact with Hossa's head while they both jumped for the puck, but Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews disagrees. Hansen received a two-minute roughing penalty on the play and Marian Hossa's injury status is currently unclear.

Former NHL referee Kerry Fraser will be surprised if Jannik Hansen gets suspended for his hit to the head of Marian Hossa Tuesday night.

At TSN.ca, Fraser writes: "I do not believe that there was any deliberate or malicious intent on the part of Jannik Hansen to hit Marian Hossa in the head as both players went up for an airborne puck that had been flipped out of the Hawks zone by Jonathan Toews. The resulting contact to the back of Hossa's head was not worthy of anything beyond the minor penalty for roughing that was eventually assessed by the referees; albeit well after play was whistled dead for the Hossa injury." He adds: "Stranger things have happened but I would be surprised if Hansen receives a suspension on this play. I have seen far worse hits that have gone unpunished this season."
