Jannik Hansen scored a goal and added an assist but that wasn't enough as he and the Vancouver Canucks were defeated 7-4 by the Flames in Calgary Saturday night and were eliminated from the playoffs.
Hansen scored his goal on a wrist shot at 7:32 of the first period, giving the Canucks a 2-0 lead after Brandon McMillan's opening goal at 2:36. When Radim Vrbata scored to make it a 3-0 lead for the Canucks at 9:42 of the first, it seemed as though Vancouver was well on its way to tying the series at 3-3 and extending it to a seventh game. But the Flames bounced back with three goals before Luca Sbisa took a Hansen pass and gave Vancouver a 4-3 lead at 10:36 of the second period. The Flames scored four goals in the third period, however, and that was all she wrote for the Canucks. Apr 26 - 12:06 AM

Jannik Hansen scored a goal to help the Canucks beat the San Jose Sharks 3-1 on Tuesday.

Hansen broke out the penalty box and took a breakaway feed from Alex Edler and made no mistake with a snap shot blocker side on Alex Stalock. Hansen was also given a two minute minor for what appeared to be a hit to the head to the Sharks' Tommy Wingels. It will be interested to see if he gets a hearing with the NHL disciplinary board. He is a repeat offender after getting suspended one game for a hit to Marian Hossa. Bo Horvat and Radim Vrbata rounded out the scoring for the Canucks who played a solid road game.

Jannik Hansen (undisclosed) practiced on the fourth line Saturday alongside Bo Horvat and Alex Burrows.

That's not a bad fourth unit as all three are pretty good hockey players. Hansen has sat out one game after collapsing on the bench eight days ago. He should be back in the Vancouver lineup Sunday.

It appears that Jannik Hansen is fine after he collapsed on the bench Saturday as coach Willie Desjardins said that he checked out well in the hospital.

Players around him on the bench quickly called for a halt in play when the incident occurred. "It was scary," teammate Radim Vrbata said. "I was sitting right beside him and I could see that when he came back to the bench he couldn’t catch his breath. Then he just went down for a second so we just grabbed him and tried to get the referees to blow the whistle so the trainers and doctors could come in. He kind of came back right away and you could see he could walk away himself. It was good to see that. I talked to him on the bench and he said he was fine." Consider Hansen day-to-day for now.
