Details of Ryan Carter's deal with the Wild have emerged.

Carter's deal is for the rest of the season on a two-way track where he'll make the pro-rated NHL minimum of $575K while in Minnesota, and a pro-rated $250K while with AHL Iowa. Pretty great considering what he's overcome.

Ryan Carter is on his way to Minnesota.

Carter, who was playing with Iowa on a pro tryout, signed a deal with the Wild Sunday. He has worked his way back from October surgery for a torn labrum in his right shoulder and should provide the Wld with quality penalty killing. Carter has no fantasy value, however.

Ryan Carter is attempting to make a comeback with the Wild this month, according to sources.

Carter, who was released from his PTO in October as he prepared for surgery on a torn right labrum, has been aided by the team in his general recovery. Now, he's poised to start skating with the team as Minnesota rides an eight-game homestand. The White Bear Lake, MN native played in 113 games with the Wild over the last two seasons, posting 25 points and 103 PIMs and 164 blocks. If Carter signs by the March 1st trade deadline, he'll be eligible for the playoffs. Stay tuned.

The Minnesota Wild have released Ryan Carter from his PTO as he prepares for surgery on a torn right labrum.

While Wild GM Chuck Fletcher has told Carter that they'll "take care" of him and are leaving the door open for a return once he's recovered, the 10-year veteran is keeping a realistic attitude about the situation. "There’s legitimate concern that this could be the end," Carter told Michael Russo. "Being a realist, I’m 33 years old and went into camp on a PTO. It’s a five-month rehab. It’ll be difficult to play my way back to the NHL on short notice after really eight or nine months off." If this is the end, the White Bear Lake native got to play 113 of his 473 career games with his hometown team.

With Tomas Fleischmann out of the picture, Ryan Carter's chances of breaking camp with the Wild improved greatly.

Just as Fleischmann was, Carter is in Wild camp on a professional tryout. Carter is known to the Minnesota coaching staff having played with the Wild the past two seasons and now seems to have a leg up on roster spot over Jordan Schroeder, although it is still early.

The Minnesota Wild have signed Ryan Carter to a professional tryout.

Carter spent the last two seasons in Minnesota. He scored five goals and 12 points in 60 games with the Wild in 2015-16. Carter also accumulated 10 penalty minutes in two playoff games. With the Wild having just 10 players on one-way contracts, there's a decent chance that Carter could stick.
