Ryan Carter has agreed to a one-year, two-way contract with the Wild.
He will make $725,000 if he plays at the NHL level or $350,000 in the minors. Carter was skating at New Jersey's camp without a contract, but a deal wasn't worked out with the Devils. Still, he's looking forward to playing in Minnesota. "There's a lot to be excited about going there," he said. "Everything away from the rink aside, I get a chance to play with Zach [Parise] again. He's a good friend of mine. And when you look at the team and the roster and to have a chance to win, that's something that's extremely important to me. Going there with a chance to play and a chance to win is really exciting." He will probably open the season on the fourth line. Oct 6 - 5:25 PM

Ryan Carter admitted that remaining unsigned was "getting to be a distraction."

"I hope I know where it is, but I don't and that's the fact of the matter. So, I've got to go out there and play." He played in 62 games with New Jersey last season, but there's no shortage of competition for bottom-six spots this time around.

Although he's still unsigned, Ryan Carter feels it's important for him to participate in training camp.

Carter is an unrestricted free agent and is hoping that the New Jersey Devils re-sign him after he spent parts of the last three seasons with them. "This is about being the best hockey player you can be and I believe training camp helps you get there," Carter said. "If you're skipping out on training camp, you're not preparing yourself for what's ahead and you're setting yourself behind. I'm here because I want to be here. This is where I want be, where my family wants to be." He had seven goals and 10 points in 62 games in 2013-14.
