Adam McQuaid (concussion) has been activated from injured reserve.

It's looking more likely now that he could be back in the lineup on Tuesday night even though he skated as an extra defender in the morning session. McQuaid will be a game-time decision against Columbus.
Feb 16 - 5:06 PM

Adam McQuaid (concussion) will be a game-time decision Tuesday night against Columbus.

He took part in the morning skate with Joe Morrow on the fourth pairing, which makes it look unlikely that he will play. However, line rushes during the pregame warm-up may tell a different story.
Feb 16 - 12:36 PM

Adam McQuaid (concussion) skated with his teammates again on Tuesday.

"I think he's getting better and better, and I think a lot of it will be about him feeling like he's ready to go right now," coach Claude Julien said. "I think my biggest concern with Adam was the fact that he was out almost five weeks." McQuaid hasn't played since he sustained a concussion back on Jan. 5, but it looks like he could return during Boston's upcoming road trip.
Feb 10 - 9:51 AM

Adam McQuaid (upper body) took part in practice on Friday.

He has practiced for the last two days and is getting close to returning. McQuaid isn't expected to play Saturday, but he could draw back in during Boston's upcoming road trip. Consider him day-to-day.
Feb 6 - 9:39 AM

Adam McQuaid (upper body) skated on Monday.

He took to the ice with strength and conditioning coach John Whitesides before practice. McQuaid has missed 11 games because of what is believed to be a concussion.
Feb 2 - 9:33 AM

Adam McQuaid (upper body) hasn't resumed skating yet.

There was no timetable in place for his return last week and that probably won't change until he gets back on the ice. McQuaid has missed the past six games with an upper-body ailment.
Jan 18 - 12:44 PM

Adam McQuaid (upper body) doesn't have a timetable in place for his return.

He won't join the Bruins on their current road trip. McQuaid appeared to be knocked out when he was hit from behind by Washington's Zach Sill on Jan. 5.
Jan 13 - 9:36 AM

Adam McQuaid (upper body) has been placed on the injured reserve list.

McQuaid suffered the injury when he was smashed into the boards from behind by Washington's Zach Sill on Tuesday. McQuaid's head went into the glass, so while the Bruins are classifying his issue as upper-body, it doesn't seem unreasonable to be concerned about the possibility that the specific problem is related to his head.
Jan 7 - 12:02 PM

Adam McQuaid was injured Tuesday early in the second period when he was hit from behind by Washington's Zach Sill.

The side of McQuaid’s head went into the glass and he needed some assistance to get off the ice after he was down for several minutes. He wasn't able to return and the Bruins didn't have an update on his status after the match.
Jan 6 - 7:30 AM

Adam McQuaid (undisclosed) skated Monday morning, but it's unclear if he'll play against Nashville.

"Don't know yet [if he's good to go]," said coach Claude Julien. "We have some decisions to make today on our group." McQuaid was injured in Saturday's game versus Vancouver.

Adam McQuaid likes the depth on the Bruins blue line.

"I think we're really deep on the blue line," McQuaid said. "We have a lot of guys that can come in and play, and we're really fortunate that way, so I think it's an opportunity for a lot of guys. I think it's something where if you're playing well, you’re going to get the chance to do more. So I'm going to hopefully compete and be able to give myself the best opportunity." McQuaid signed a new four-year deal to stay in Boston earlier in the off-season.

Adam McQuaid has agreed to a four-year, $11 million with the Boston Bruins.

Not to turn the theme of the day into being hard on Boston, but that's a lot of money to throw at a 28-year-old bottom-two defenseman that has only reached the 70 games played mark once in his career. It's particularly eyebrow raising given the Bruins' rough cap situation that just led to them trading blueliner Dougie Hamilton for a collection of draft picks. That aside, McQuaid has an opportunity to play a bigger role with Boston with Hamilton gone and Zdeno Chara moving further into the twilight of his career. He isn't much help offensively, but fantasy owners should note that he is a source of PIM as he was charged with 85 in 63 games last season.

Of all the Bruins' unrestricted free agents, Adam McQuaid is the most likely to re-sign in Boston.

The Bruins like McQuaid's toughness and character and are trying to figure out a way to bring him back. That might involve trading another player to create cap room. Stay tuned.
