C | 1 | Logan Couture ActiveLogan Couture found the back of the net and recorded two assists in an 8-1 win in Game 3 on Monday. It was Couture's second straight multi-point game. That gives him five points in three playoff games, which puts him in a tie with Joe Pavelski for first place in the team's scoring race at this early stage. Apr 17 |
Joe Thornton I.L.Joe Thornton (knee) will not play in Game 1 against the Vegas Golden Knights. This was according to coach Peter DeBoer who stated so on Sunday. Thornton has been practicing with the team for a few weeks and has partaken in the warmups as well but his return is still up in the air. Thornton had 36 points in 47 regular season games, so his presence in the lineup will definitely be a bonus once he is able to return. Apr 23
Tomas Hertl ActiveSharks coach Peter DeBoer believes Tomas Hertl has taken his game to another level. Hertl certainly came up big in the first round. He scored three goals and four points in four playoff games and accounted for the series-clinching goal over Anaheim. "He would’ve gotten to this level earlier than this year if he had been healthy," DeBoer said. "He’s had some really bad luck with some really bad injuries. He’s healthy and he’s playing at another level, and I still think he’s got another level he can get to, too." It'll be interesting to see if Hertl can keep this up against Vegas in the second round. He had 22 goals and 46 points in 79 regular season contests. Apr 20
Chris Tierney ActiveChris Tierney scored a goal with an assist and a plus-2 rating in Monday's 5-3 victory against Detroit. Tierney also chipped in with two blocked shots across 13:26 of ice time. He has been a rather serviceable fantasy option in deeper pools over the past month, picking up four goals with nine points over the past 12 outings. Next up is a trip to Los Angeles on Thursday. He had a goal, an assist and a plus-2 rating in his last visit to L.A. back on Jan. 15. Mar 13
LW | 1 | Evander Kane ActiveEvander Kane scored a goal and registered an assist in San Jose's 8-1 win against Anaheim in Game 3. Kane has three goals and four points so far in the first round series. The Sharks acquired him at the trade deadline and that move has paid off nicely. In addition to his early playoff success, he also contributed nine goals and 14 points in 17 regular season games with the Sharks. Apr 17 |
Kevin Labanc ActiveKevin Labanc scored his ninth goal of the season in Monday's 5-3 win against Detroit. Labanc has managed a pair of goals with a plus-1 rating and one game-winning tally in five contests in March. Still, he doesn't do enough on a regular basis to warrant fantasy consideration outside of the deepest pools. Mar 13
Timo Meier ActiveTimo Meier contributed an assist in San Jose's 3-0 win over Anaheim in Game 1 on Thursday. Meier was hot going into the playoffs as he was only held off the scoresheet once in his final five regular season games. This was his first playoff point in six career contests. Apr 13
Mikkel Boedker ActiveMikkel Boedker scored a goal and an assist in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Nashville Predators. Boedker assisted on Logan Couture's goal in the first period (1-1) before adding a goal of his own in the third frame to tie the game three. The Sharks forward finished the game with a plus-1 rating and two shots on goal in 13:26 of ice time. The 28-year-old has 15 goals and 35 points in 70 games this season. Mar 29
Brandon Mashinter ActiveBrandon Mashinter has been called up by San Jose. Mashinter has seven goals and 18 points in 41 games with San Jose's AHL affiliate this year. The Sharks also brought up Tim Heed, who has sat often as a healthy scratch lately. Feb 13
Jannik Hansen ActiveJannik Hansen recorded an assist in a 5-3 loss to Nashville Thursday night. Hansen has only been held off the scoresheet once in his last six games and twice in his last nine contests. It's been a rare hot streak for Hansen, who has two goals and 14 points in 45 games this season. Mar 30
Eric Fehr ActiveEric Fehr (lower body) is available for Game 1 on Thursday. Fehr is projected to play on the fourth line with Marcus Sorensen and Melker Karlsson. This will be Fehr's first game since March 24th. Apr 12
Melker Karlsson ActiveMelker Karlsson is on a three-game point streak. Karlsson kept that going by registering an assist in the Sharks' 2-1 victory over Anaheim in Game 4 Wednesday night. He traditionally hasn't been a significant offensive contributor, particularly in the playoffs, but he certainly helped out in the first round. The Sharks will now rest before their second round series against Vegas. Apr 19
Rudolfs Balcers ActiveRudolfs Balcers has been summoned from the AHL. Balcers has 14 goals and 33 points in 47 minor-league games this campaign. He didn't see any action with the Sharks during his last NHL stint. Feb 19
RW | 1 | Joe Pavelski ActiveJoe Pavelski registered two assists in San Jose's 3-0 win over Anaheim in Game 1 Thursday night. That extended Pavelski's point streak to five games if you include his regular season work. He's up to 42 goals and 85 points in 112 career playoff contests. Apr 13 |
Joel Ward ActiveJoel Ward will be a healthy scratch in Monday's game against the Chicago Blackhawks. Ward hasn't played since Feb. 8 because he's dealt with a shoulder injury and he's also been scratched a couple of times. The veteran has five goals and 11 points in 46 games this season. Tim Heed will also watch the game from the press box. Mar 26
Joonas Donskoi ActiveJoonas Donskoi scored a goal and registered two assists in San Jose's 8-1 win against Anaheim in Game 3 Monday night. Donskoi's marker at 1:15 of the second period proved to be the game-winner. He had been held off the scoresheet in the first two games of the series. He has seven goals and 17 points in 32 career playoff contests. Apr 17
Barclay Goodrow ActiveBarclay Goodrow posted a goal, an assist and a plus-3 rating with a blocked shot over 12:53 of ice time in Tuesday's 6-2 pounding of the Devils. Goodrow was also money in the faceoff circle, winning eight of his 11 battles at the dot. The Toronto native lit the lamp for the first time since March 1, snapping a six-game point drought, and it was his first multi-point game since he had a pair of helpers in a game Oct. 13, 2015 in Washington. Needless to say, he should remain on the waiver wire in most pools despite the solid performance. Mar 21
Marcus Sorensen ActiveMarcus Sorensen scored a goal during Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks. Sorensen surprisingly played a huge role in San Jose's first-round sweep of the Ducks. The 26-year-old's goal gave the Sharks a 1-0 lead just 5:43 into the game. Sorensen ended up scoring in each of his team's last three games. He has three goals and one assist in four games this postseason. The Sharks will now take on the Vegas Golden Knights in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Don't expect Sorensen to continue producing, but you never know. Apr 19
D | 1 | Brent Burns ActiveBrent Burns took part in Monday's practice. Burns skipped Friday and Sunday's practices, though he had continued to skate. Sharks coach Peter DeBoer once again stated that Burns will be available for Game 1 of the second round and we believe him. Apr 24 |
Marc-Edouard Vlasic ActiveMarc-Edouard Vlasic is good to go Tuesday night after he was hit in the chest by a puck on Saturday. Vlasic was forced to leave the game after playing just 8:53 of ice time. However, he was back as a full participant at Monday's practice and will play against New Jersey. Mar 20
Justin Braun ActiveJustin Braun is expected to be in the lineup on Monday in Game 3 against Anaheim. Braun blocked a shot in the final minute of Game 2, but he was back on the ice for the morning skate and he is poised to play Monday night. Apr 16
Brenden Dillon ActiveBrenden Dillon recorded an assist in a 3-0 win over Anaheim in Game 1 Thursday night. Dillon had five goals and 22 points in 81 regular season games. He typically hasn't been much of an offensive contributor in the playoffs as he has four assists over 33 career postseason games. Apr 13
Tim Heed ActiveTim Heed will be a healthy scratch in Thursday's game against Nashville. Heed has three goals and 11 points in 29 games this season. This is the 12th consecutive game that he'll watch from the press box. Dylan Gambrell, Barclay Goodrow and Maxim Letunov will also serve as healthy scratches in this one. Mar 29
Dylan DeMelo ActiveDylan DeMelo chipped in with a pair of assists, four blocked shots and a hit over 15:03 of ice time in Monday's 5-3 win against the Red Wings. DeMelo has been amazing since flipping the calendar from February. He has seven helpers and a plus-4 rating in five March games, including a pair of assists on the power play. He had just eight assists through his first 45 games this season, but apparently the month of March agrees with him. He has emerged as a useful short-term fantasy option in deeper pools and a nice low-cost DFS choice while running hot. Mar 13
Paul Martin ActivePaul Martin will be a healthy scratch in Friday's game against the Calgary Flames. Martin has no points and a minus-4 rating in three games this season. Marcus Sorensen will also watch the game from the press box. Mar 16
Joakim Ryan ActiveJoakim Ryan (upper body) is healthy enough to play in Game 1 if called upon. Ryan had three goals and 12 points in 62 regular season games. He hasn't been in the lineup since March 16th. Apr 12
G | 1 | Martin Jones ActiveMartin Jones turned aside 30 of 31 shots in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks. The win allowed Jones and the Sharks to put the Ducks to bed in four straight games. San Jose's netminder was terrific in every game of the series, as he continued to come up with big saves for his team. Jones has a 4-0 record with a 1.00 goals-against-average and an outrageous .970 save percentage this postseason. He'll now have the unenviable task of slowing down the Vegas Golden Knights in the second round. Those who drafted Jones in their playoff pools have to be ecstatic with the way he's played so far. Apr 19 |
Aaron Dell ActiveAaron Dell allowed three goals on 32 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime loss to the St. Louis Blues. The Sharks had 1-0 and 2-1 leads thanks to goals by Evander Kane and Joe Pavelski, but they eventually blew those advantages. The loss drops Dell's record to 15-5-4 on the season. He'll enter his next appearance with a 2.67 goals-against-average and a .913 save percentage this season. Dell will continue to serve as Martin Jones' backup. Mar 27
