Logan Couture scored his fifth goal of the playoffs on the power play, leading the Sharks to a 2-1 Game 4 victory on Tuesday to even the series up at 2-2.
Couture originally did not receive credit for the game-winning goal, but the replay showed that the Dan Boyle point shot clearly ricocheted off of Couture and past Jonathan Quick. Couture led the Sharks with five shots on goal, and has been active all series, having tallied points in each of the past three games. Brent Burns opened the scoring in the first period with his second of the playoffs, while Joe Thornton received the first star of the game after notching an assist and playing well on the defensive side of the puck in the win. Logan Couture offered his thoughts on what the Sharks have to do on Thursday to beat Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick.

"More traffic, more shots in succession," Couture said. "He’s aggressive, he comes out of the blue [paint] and takes a lot of the net away. Shoot off of him. Rebounds. He’s in a zone right now. He’s playing great. He’s seeing everything, compact with the puck, it’s hitting him and not coming off him. We’ve got to find a way." The Sharks suffered a 2-0 loss to the Kings in Game 1 of their second-round series. If San Jose is to fare better on Thursday, Couture will probably be a big part of that. He had three goals and five assists in four games against the Vancouver Canucks in the first round.

McLellan cited Couture's place in the Sharks' leadership dynamic as one of the big reasons for his growth, but it's hard to deny Couture's offensive contributions. After registering just four points in a dismal February, Couture had 13 goals and 23 points over 29 games in the final two months of the season. As long as he's healthy, Couture is a strong pick in playoff pools.
