Logan Couture is playing some of the best hockey of his career in the playoffs after suffering a scary injury during the regular season.

He missed 30 of the team's first 35 games because of a fractured ankle and a leg injury. When he returned on Dec. 8, he suffered internal bleeding in his right thigh in just his second game back. "We flew back home [from Edmonton] and my leg just kept swelling bigger and bigger," Couture said. "So they had to stop the bleeding somehow. They were able to do that, fortunately, before it got worse. My leg was just continuously filling with blood and it could have gotten to the point where you don't know what's going to happen – if you're going to lose your leg or die. So they caught it pretty quickly, which was good." Couture leads the playoffs in scoring with 29 points in 23 games after he generated 36 points over 52 appearances in the regular season.

Logan Couture doesn't feel his previous comments about Sidney Crosby cheating on the draw should be regarded as controversial.

"Our centers do it. [Anze] Kopitar does it. [Jeff] Carter does it. Everyone does it. I do it," Couture said. "Some guys get away with it. Some guys, the ref will stop it. That’s what happens on faceoffs." Couture went as far as to say that Joe Thornton is pretty good with getting away with moving early. Couture's initial comments came after Pittsburgh won roughly 55% of the draws in Game 2. Crosby had a 71% success rate while Couture was at 40%.
