Logan Couture scored and assisted twice in the Sharks’ 4-2 win over the Devils on Saturday night.
The goal was Couture’s first of the season, as the talented 25-year-old has started sluggishly this season, with just one assist and eight shots on goal entering the game. He had four shots on goal against the Devils, so perhaps he’s starting to get out of his early funk. Joe Pavelski also had a three-point night with a goal and two helpers. Patrick Marleau notched a goal and an assist and Joe Thornton also scored, via the empty net Oct 18 - 10:12 PM

Logan Couture was back at practice Friday after getting Thursday off for a maintenance day.

Couture is on the second line with Patrick Marleau and Matt Nieto. He should have another good season as 30 goals and 70 points is certainly within his reach.

Logan Couture admitted to being "disappointed" that he wasn't nominated to the Sharks' new leadership group.

"I think it's human nature to be disappointed," Couture said. "I'm going to come in and do the exact same thing I would if I had a letter or didn't." Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau, Joe Pavelski and Marc-Edouard Vlasic will make up the group. Coach Todd McLellan had encouraging words for the young phenom, "It's not like we're closing the door on the individual and saying,'Don't ever come back, you're not qualified.' That's not the case." Sometimes seniority rules.

After the devasting playoff loss to Los Angeles back in May, Logan Couture was quoted saying that he didn't think he'd "ever get over blowing a 3-0 series lead." Fast forward five months, Couture has seemingly "turned the page", at least according to his coach.

"It piled on, but I don't think he is carrying that baggage with him at all at this point," Todd McLellan said. The "pile" would be a season that began to unravel in December after a suffering a wrist injury that needed off-season surgery. Then he was left off Team Canada, and then suffered two hand injuries (plus more surgery), and of course, the big loss. Perhaps sometimes it's easier to bounce back after crashing in a fantastic fashion, but more likely a summer to reflect, heal, and evolve was all that was needed for the 25-year-old star.

Logan Couture felt Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings might serve as a wakeup call.

As Couture noted, the Kings seem ready for the regular season. "We're going to have to open up our season against them in eight days, so we better get going," Couture added. It was still just an exhibition game though, so it's hard to get too work up over the outcome. The Sharks have a lot riding on this season after the way their 2014 playoff run ended, but their preseason record obviously isn't going to make or break them.
Oct 1 - 9:08 AM

Logan Couture returned from an undisclosed injury on Saturday and potted a goal.

Couture has been playing on a line with Patrick Marleau and Matt Nieto in training camp and it looks as if they could be a trio once the regular season begins. Couture is looking for a big season after he scored 23 goals and 53 points in an injury-plagued 65 games last season.

Logan Couture (undisclosed) skated on Thursday after being held out on Wednesday.

Couture took an awkward fall during the Sharks' preseason game against the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday. The injury doesn't seem too serious and Couture should be able to return soon. If he can stay healthy, the 25-year-old is a good bet to surpass the 23 goal and 53 point totals he reached last season.
Sep 25 - 2:48 PM

Logan Couture plans to skate on Thursday after leaving Tuesday's game for precautionary reasons.

"Just fell awkwardly and was told to take [the equipment] off," Couture said. "If it was a regular season game I probably would have been back out there, but this time of year just make sure everything’s fine." He also missed Wednesday practice. He had 23 goals and 53 points in 65 games last season.
Sep 24 - 5:47 PM

Logan Couture left Tuesday's 4-2 split squad loss to the Canucks after the second period for precautionary reasons.

"His last shift in the second, he got banged up a little bit and this time of the year we’re not going to fool around with anything like that so we kept him out," said Sharks head coach Todd McLellan to local reporters in Vancouver. "We’ll see how he is in the morning, but we don’t think it's anything serious." Couture was visibly upset after a hit in the second period and did not return for the third period. We will take the coach at his word but still monitor the situation.
Sep 24 - 12:52 AM

Logan Couture leaves with an unknown injury in Tuesday's preseason opener with the Canucks.

Little is known about why he left except Couture appeared to be unhappy after taking a big hit during second period action. We will certainly monitor this situation but hopefully it's just precautionary.
Sep 23 - 11:15 PM

Logan Couture's hand was fine as training camp began.

Couture underwent hand surgery on June 10 as he injured it in a fight with Mike Richards during Game 6 in the first round of the playoffs. He found himself centering Patrick Marleau and Matt Nieto during the opening day of training camp. Couture stated that his injured hand took a couple of months to heal. He should get 30 goals and 65-70 points this season and should be drafted in the middle rounds.
Sep 20 - 12:15 PM

If Joe Thornton doesn't earn the Sharks' captaincy back, Logan Couture is a prime candidate to take charge of San Jose.

The 25 year old star is a leader both on and off the ice. Having produced 212 points in 272 games over the past five seasons, Couture is locked up for five more years and has proven to be an energetic, two-way force. Couture served as captain of the Ottawa 67's during his tenure in the OHL, and has a bit more shelf life than fellow star Joe Pavelski and former captains Thornton and Patrick Marleau, who are all in their 30's.
Aug 24 - 7:04 PM

Logan Couture feels Joe Thornton doesn't deserve to have the captaincy taken from him.

There's been some speculation that might happen after Thornton made it clear that he wouldn't waive his no-trade clause. The Sharks might have otherwise shipped him off to jump start their rebuilding effort. Instead, Couture is hoping the Sharks "come back a lot stronger, a lot hungrier" after blowing a 3-0 series lead against the Los Angeles Kings in the first round of the 2014 playoffs. "It's probably the toughest loss I've been through… It was pretty devastating. It's really stuck with me the whole summer," Couture said.
Jul 22 - 2:49 PM

Logan Couture has undergone hand surgery.

Couture sustained the injury during a fight with Kings forward Mike Richards during Game 6 of their first round series. Couture should be fine for the start of the 2014-15 campaign.
Jun 10 - 6:27 PM

Logan Couture has drawn five penalties and three points through just four games in these playoffs, which has certainly helped the Sharks build a commanding lead over the Kings so far.

With such a potent power play, Couture’s gritty work and sacrifice has come in handy for San Jose. The Sharks have converted on 4/16 power plays through four games, while Couture has had plenty of chances with the man advantage playing on the second unit with Tomas Hertl and Tommy Wingels.
