Brandon Sutter scored a goal with an assist and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 5-4 shootout loss against the Golden Knights.
Sutter detests the idea of tanking and he is certainly doing his part to disprove the theory that Vancouver is losing on purpose as they play out the string. He has five goals with eight points and a plus-6 rating over his past eight outings as he gives it his all and is playing his best hockey of the season. Apr 4 - 2:57 AM

Brandon Sutter hates the talk of the Canucks tanking.

The logic behind it is obvious: The lower your team finishes in the standings, the better the chances of the team winning the draft lottery. Getting a top-tier prospect, in this case potentially getting an opportunity to take defenseman Rasmus Dahlin with the first overall pick, could be a major boost to any franchise. Sutter doesn't like that line of thinking though. "That doesn’t sit well with the pro athlete at all," Sutter said. "To us, that’s just insane. If you’re a fan, you want to see your team win. We were talking about having a chance to still catch Chicago. And I’m sure some wouldn’t be too happy about that. If you start playing games that way (to lose), you’ll never get that (winning mentality) back. We’re trying to improve. Sitting around and losing games isn’t going to make anybody better. True fans just enjoy watching us play and cheering us on. There’s always going to be outside pressure, but if you pay attention to it, it could really hurt you."

Brandon Sutter posted a pair of unassisted third-period goals while also adding an assist Tuesday against the Ducks.

Sutter finished with an impressive plus-3 rating, two blocked shots, a minor penalty and a hit, too. He has picked up the pace with four goals and five points over the past five outings, although this was just his second multi-point effort across his past 17 contests. Despite the recent hot streak he is only worth using in deeper fantasy pools.

Brandon Sutter scored a goal with a plus-1 rating, three shots on net and two hits in Tuesday's 4-1 setback in Vegas.

Sutter's goal ruined the shutout for the Golden Knights, but his marker came with the team already down 4-0 midway through the third period. The goal snapped a seven-game point drought dating back to March 2 when he struck for a goal in an overtime loss against Nashville. He hasn't been doing nearly enough to warrant fantasy consideration outside of the deepest pools.
Mar 21 - 2:09 AM

Brandon Sutter picked up a goal with an assist and a plus-2 rating while taking a team-high six shots on goal Tuesday against Colorado.

Not only was the former Carolina Hurricane proficient on the offensive end, he was a beast in the faceoff circle with 16 wins in 25 attempts. He posted a plus-2 rating for just the second time this season, and first time at home. Sutter posted two assists in that game on Oct. 20 in Buffalo, which was also the last time he had a multi-point performance. Needless to say, he remains useful only in the deepest of fantasy formats.
Feb 21 - 3:50 AM

Brandon Sutter registered an assist in Vancouver's 3-1 loss to Florida on Tuesday.

Sutter has gotten a point in each of his last four games. That's a rare run for him as he has four goals and 12 points in 32 contests. Don't expect him to be a significant offensive contributor going forward.
Feb 7 - 6:30 AM

Brandon Sutter scored the overtime winner for the Canucks Sunday.

It was his first game back after missed 21 games with a groin injury. He has three goals and seven points in 24 games this season so he really has little, if any, fantasy value.
Jan 15 - 8:34 AM

Head coach Travis Green has announced that center Brandon Sutter will make his return to the lineup after missing 19 games with a groin injury.

Sutter hasn't played since Nov. 24 and has only picked up six points in 23 games so far this season. He'll likely be eased back into the swing of things and take on a larger role in a couple of games.
Jan 14 - 1:10 PM

Brandon Sutter (groin) is hoping to make his return on Sunday.

It would be Sutter's first game since Nov. 24. Apparently he had been told that it would likely take him six-to-eight weeks to recover, which would mean that he's returning roughly when he expected.

Brandon Sutter (groin) may be back with the team this week.

Sutter has been recovering from a groin injury since Nov. 24 and getting back on the ice with his teammates would be a significant step forward.
Jan 9 - 1:12 PM

Speaking to the media, Vancouver Canucks head coach Travis Green announced that center Brandon Sutter won't travel with the team tomorrow ahead of their seven-game road trip.

The Canucks will start their road trip on Saturday with a trip to Toronto. It's unclear at the moment when precisely Sutter will be ready but we'd expect it to be sometime over the back half of the trip. The 28-year-old center has six points in 23 games so far this season.

Speaking to the media, Vancouver Canucks head coach Travis Green stated that center Brandon Sutter would start skating after the Christmas break.

Green also denied that Sutter suffered a setback, instead choosing to say that his groin injury hasn't healed as quickly as they thought. Sutter has only 11 points in 23 games but the Canucks must be itching to get him back into the lineup. There still hasn't been a clear timetable given by the team on when we could expect his return to the lineup.
