Coach Barry Trotz was not happy with the effort of defenseman Jonathon Blum on the winning goal Sunday.
The Blackhawks and Predators were tied at three just past the halfway mark of the third period when Blum was beaten to the puck by Patrick Kane who passed in front to Jonathan Toews. Toews buried his shot to put the Blackhawks up for good. "They dump the puck in two on three and beat us to the end boards and made a play," Trotz said. "That's right on our 'D.' Our 'D' has to have that puck." Blum could be a healthy scratch once again as he was in mid-March when he spent five games in the press box. Apr 8 - 9:22 AM

Jonathon Blum returned to action on Sunday after being a healthy scratch his previous five games.

The Predators dressed seven defensemen and it came in handy as Scott Hannan suffered an upper body injury in the first period and did not return. "I got a taste of it at the start of the year, sitting out a few games, and this one was a big stretch, too," Blum said. "It's definitely hard mentally. You have to be ready whenever you can." Blum has a goal and five points this season in 16 games with a plus-one rating after playing 14:07 minutes on Sunday.

Predators defenseman Jonathon Blum is expected to draw back into the lineup for Sunday's game against Edmonton.

The offensive-minded blueliner has recorded five points in 15 contests this season, but has had trouble staying in the lineup on a consistent basis. If you happen to be a Blum owner, he's safe to activate once again.
Mar 17 - 9:06 AM

Jonathon Blum will be reinserted into the Predators' lineup Sunday.

No word yet on who would be scratched to make room for him. Blum hasn't played since March 4. In 15 games this year, the 24-year-old has a goal, four assists and a plus-two rating.
Mar 16 - 8:50 PM

Jonathon Blum is bouncing back from his rough 2011-12 campaign.

Blum has a goal and five points in 10 games. "I was pretty hard on him last year," Predators coach Barry Trotz said. "But he dug in and he said, ‘Hey, I’m going to prove you wrong,’ and he did. He’s made great strides since then." Blum is starting to get more ice time and his offensive upside makes him worth taking a chance on in standard leagues.
Feb 22 - 11:10 AM

Jonathon Blum had two assists in Tuesday's 6-1 victory over St. Louis.

Blum has spent most of the season in the press box. "He’s played pretty good," Predators coach Barry Trotz said. "He’s making a case for himself to get back into the lineup."
Feb 6 - 10:35 AM

Jonathon Blum, who played in the AHL during the lockout, feels good about his conditioning going into the Nashville Predators' training camp.

"I played 30 something games in Milwaukee," Blum said. "The level of conditioning is there in games … playing 28 minutes. It’s different here playing against bigger, stronger guys, but I feel like I’m ready." Blum had 12 points in 34 AHL contests. Ryan Ellis also got called up from AHL Milwaukee and the two will be competing for a roster spot with the Predators. The winner should get some playing time with the man advantage and both have offensive upside, so this is a competition to watch.

Jonathon Blum had an assist in Milwaukee's 5-4 triumph over Charlotte on Wednesday night.

The 23-year-old has four assists on the season. He recorded seven points in 33 NHL games last year. Patrick Cehlin (fourth) and Austin Watson (first) notched goals in the win.

Jonathon Blum had an assist in Milwaukee's 3-2 win over Grand Rapids on Friday.

Blum spent 33 games with the Predators last year and recently signed a two-way contract that allows him to get some more time in the AHL as the work stoppage continues. Last season with the Admirals, he had 26 points in 48 games.

Restricted free agent Jonathon Blum will decide by Friday if he will sign on with the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL.

Blum cannot sign a deal at this time with the Predators due to the lockout but can still sign with any AHL team. "That’s my plan, to go down there and play," Blum said. "I haven’t signed a contract but am just waiting the next few days. It would be nice to start on time with Milwaukee."

Jonathon Blum says he will go to the AHL if a lockout cancels regular season games.

The defenseman just signed a one-year deal with the Predators on Thursday. "If the time comes when the season starts," he said, "I’ll have some games under my belt down there and be in a top level and ready to come to camp, and a short camp, and start the season here."

Jonathon Blum has inked a one-year, two-way deal with the Nashville Predators.

Blum is set to earn $650,000 at the NHL level and $105,000 in the minors. However, the contract also guarantees that he'll make a minimum of $300,000 even if he spends the entire season in the AHL. He was a restricted free agent.

Jonathon Blum is still waiting for a new contract with Nashville.

"It has been a long time," said the restricted free agent defenseman. "I thought it would happen sooner, but it hasn't." He was told by Predators GM David Poile that the team "should have something" for him on Wednesday or Thursday. Blum spent some time in the minors last season after struggling at the NHL level with a minus-14 rating in 33 appearances.

Jonathon Blum decided to stay in Nashville this summer so he could train under the Predators' watch.

"I wanted to be with (Predators strength and conditioning coach) David Good and do his stuff and not have that as a reason why I didn’t come to camp in shape," Blum said. "So, I’m doing their stuff, and I hope it’s working out." With Ryan Suter and possibly Shea Weber leaving town, there will be a big opportunity for Blum this season. He's got a lot of offensive upside, but also stiff competition from fellow promising young defensemen Ryan Ellis and Roman Josi.

Jonathon Blum has returned to AHL Milwaukee.

Blum has been a healthy scratch in the Predators' last two games and he's too young and talented to be stuck in the press box. Blum is better off working on his game in the minors.
