Mike Babcock is a lot happier these days as he has three good offensive lines.
The third line of Joakim Andersson, Damien Brunner and Gustav Nyquist has been outstanding for the Detroit coach as he put the trio together late in the regular season when the Red Wings promoted Nyquist and Andersson from the minors and dropped Brunner from the top line. "The Andersson line has been a key for us because we got worked in the three line the first two or three months (of the regular season)," Babcock said. "We couldn't handle it." May 20 - 7:47 AM

Center Joakim Andersson isn't scoring much, but he is being lauded by Red Wings coaches for his hockey sense which he has displayed during his 35 games with the team.

He likes the exposure to critical games and end-of-season play, which approach the intensity of the NHL playoffs. "I played a couple years in the Swedish playoffs," he said. "We went to the semifinals once, and I won two Swedish junior championships," Andersson said of his experience with the Frolunda Hockey Club, beginning at age 16. "It's a new situation, for sure. This is a new level for me, compared to the playoffs I've been in."

Tomas Tatar scored for the second straight game, and he also had an assist. Damien Brunner and Jakub Kindl chipped in with the helpers.

Andersson had 10 goals and 27 points for the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL before his recall. He did win seven of 10 draws but has little to no fantasy value.
