Thomas Hickey will return to the Islanders lineup Sunday after being a healthy scratch Friday.

Adam Pelech took his place on Friday. "Hicks is a big part of our leadership group and he understood it was a one-game thing," coach Doug Weight said. "It wasn’t performance-based whatsoever. I thought it was a good game for Pelly to play [Friday]." Hickey has three goals and 14 points in 60 games with 77 hits and 91 blocked shots so he isn't a great choice to start in traditional pools.

The Islanders will determine his status for Thursday's game versus Montreal in the morning.
Jan 25 - 1:41 PM

Thomas Hickey played in his 300th NHL game as a member of the New York Islanders.

Despite being the fourth overall pick in 2007 by the Los Angeles Kings, the Kings put him on waivers prior to the 2012-13 season and he has been a solid member of the Islanders defensive corps ever since. After four assists in his previous two games, Hickey was held off the scoresheet in New York's 6-2 win over Winnipeg. He has three goals and 11 points in 36 games so his fantasy value is negligible.
Jan 1 - 10:20 AM

Thomas Hickey collected his second straight two-point game during Thursday's 6-4 loss to the Wild.

Hickey is now up to eight helpers and 11 points in 35 games this season, which unfortunately makes him better suited for the waiver wire.

Thomas Hickey scored the winner Monday in overtime to give the Islanders a 2-1 win over Calgary.

It was Hickey's second of the season and it came at a perfect time for the struggling Islanders who badly needed a win. Hickey has been playing solid hockey but is not an offensive weapon as 22 points is the best NHL season he has ever had. He shouldn't be in your lineup but if he was on Monday, you got a nice bonus.

Coach Jack Capuano felt that the hit by Brian Boyle on Thomas Hickey was a little high on Tuesday night.

"I just feel like the hit was high," Capuano said. "I'm going to stand by what I said." Hickey was bleeding out of his mouth following the game, but he appears to be all right. Boyle, who scored the game winner after the hit on Hickey, won't face supplemental discipline for the hit.

Thomas Hickey scored the overtime winner in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Florida Panthers.

The win gives the Islanders a 2-1 series lead. This was Hickey's first career playoff goal and it couldn't have come at a better time. Brock Nelson and Josh Bailey picked up the assists on the game-winning goal. Ryan Pulock, Shane Prince and Frans Nielsen also found the back of the net for the Islanders. Game 4 will be played in Brooklyn on Wednesday night.
