Coach Jack Capuano felt that the hit by Brian Boyle on Thomas Hickey was a little high on Tuesday night.
"I just feel like the hit was high," Capuano said. "I'm going to stand by what I said." Hickey was bleeding out of his mouth following the game, but he appears to be all right. Boyle, who scored the game winner after the hit on Hickey, won't face supplemental discipline for the hit. May 4 - 3:51 PM

Thomas Hickey scored the overtime winner in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Florida Panthers.

The win gives the Islanders a 2-1 series lead. This was Hickey's first career playoff goal and it couldn't have come at a better time. Brock Nelson and Josh Bailey picked up the assists on the game-winning goal. Ryan Pulock, Shane Prince and Frans Nielsen also found the back of the net for the Islanders. Game 4 will be played in Brooklyn on Wednesday night.

Thomas Hickey sent the Islanders to playoffs with a 4-3 overtime tally.

It was his sixth goal of the season, and second in four games. Hickey also picked up an assist, raising his total to 18 this season. With just a few games left to go, Hickey sits four points shy of his twice-reached career high of 22 points. Fun fact, this is the first time the Isles have reached the playoffs in consecutive seasons since they did it thricely from 2001-2004.

Thomas Hickey scored the game-winner and added an assist in the Islanders' 3-2 win over the Canucks on Tuesday.

Hickey broke a 2-2 tie at 12:55 of the third period to put the Islanders up for good. He has two goals in his last three games but just four overall this season. Anders Lee and Travis Hamonic were credited for two other goals that deflected off Canuck players and behind Jacob Markstrom.

Calgary Native Thomas Hickey scored one in front of some home town fans Thursday night.

It's always fun to score, even better in your home rink, and the best in your home city. Two out of three ain't bad. The goal was Hickey's third of the season which brings his points up to nine through 40 games.
Feb 26 - 12:28 AM

Thomas Hickey recorded an assist in the Islanders' 4-0 victory against New Jersey on Sunday.

Hickey snapped a five-game point drought. That gives him two goals and four points in 12 contests in 2015-16. We wouldn't count on him having much fantasy value in standard leagues for the rest of the season.

Thomas Hickey had an assist in a 5-3 victory over Colorado on Monday.

Hickey was playing in his second game since returning from a leg injury that sidelined him for roughly a month. He has two goals and three points in six games this season.

The New York Islanders have activated Thomas Hickey (leg) from the injured reserve list.

This was expected as Hickey has been practicing of late and is expected to play on Saturday night. Hickey has two goals in four games but he only had four goals in 82 contests last season so don't even think he will score a lot the rest of the way.

Thomas Hickey (leg) could be back in the lineup Saturday.

The Islanders would have to send someone (likely Adam Pelech) to the minors as Hickey is currently on the injured reserve list. The defenseman has been out of action since October 24 and has two goals in only four games this season.

Thomas Hickey (leg) will travel with the Islanders on their upcoming two-game road trip.

The hope is that Hickey will be available for Saturday's game against Tampa Bay. He's resumed practicing, so whether or not he's able to play on Saturday, Hickey does appear to be close to returning.

Thomas Hickey (leg) skated on Friday but is still likely at least a week away from returning to action.

Hickey has been out of action since October 24 with the injury after he missed the start of the season with a fractured thumb. "Things are progressing well for him and we'll have a better update in the next 48 hours or so of what his status is going to be," coach Jack Capuano said. Hickey had two goals in four games before the injury but scored only twice in 81 games last season so do not expect a lot of goals upon his return.

According to a source, Thomas Hickey will miss at least a month due to a lower-body injury he suffered on Saturday.

It is believed that Hickey hurt his left leg during the third period against St. Louis. He was placed on injured reserve Monday morning.

Thomas Hickey scored his second goal in three games Friday.

The defenseman suffered a fractured thumb in training camp and returned a lot quicker than the four weeks predicted at the time of his injury near the end of September. He had only four goals and 22 points in 82 games last season so this is more of an anomaly.

The New York Islanders have activated Thomas Hickey (thumb) off injured reserve.

Hickey will make his regular season debut against San Jose tonight. He will enter the lineup for Brian Strait. Hickey had two goals and 22 points in 81 games last season.
