Lars Eller has no recollection of the crushing hit he received from Ottawa's Eric Gryba that gave him a concussion and a broken nose.
"It happened so fast. I don't remember anything of it happening on the ice" he said. "I don't remember getting carried off the ice, trying to get up, all that stuff." He lost consciousness but he is making positive strides in his recovery now. He skated twice last week with Pierre Allard, who serves as Montreal's strength and conditioning coach. Eller said he's "been feeling really good for the last three or four days," which has allowed him to ramp up his training. Concussions can be tricky to predict, but it looks like he will OK for next season. We'll keep you posted on his status if updates emerge over the summer. May 13 - 10:56 AM

Lars Eller (concussion) skated on Wednesday.

Given the nature of his injuries, there probably wouldn't be a timetable for Eller's return even if this wasn't the playoffs. That being said, it would be surprising if he was able to play in the near future. He suffered a concussion and facial fractures when he was leveled by Eric Gryba.
May 8 - 3:45 PM

To the delight of his teammates, Lars Eller visited his Montreal Canadiens teammates on Sunday.

While the word is that he's making progress, there's no real window for his return. It seems reasonable to say that he won't be back any time in the first round - maybe the playoffs overall - but you never know with hockey players in the postseason. Pretty safe to drop him, though.
May 5 - 1:59 PM

Lars Eller (concussion) has been released from the hospital.

Eller had to be taken off the ice on a stretcher after Eric Gryba leveled him. Gryba has received a two-game suspension for his actions. In addition to a concussion, Eller temporarily lost consciousness and suffered facial fractures.

Lars Eller lost consciousness, suffered a concussion and facial and dental fractures as a result of the huge hit from Eric Gryba on Thursday.

Eller, who was left bloodied on the ice, was also taken off on a stretcher after Gryba levelled him with a high, hard hit in the second period. He stayed in a Montreal hospital overnight for observation and is certainly out for Game 2 -- and probably much longer. The league is likely to review the hit, but it wouldn't be surprising if there was no supplementary discipline. "We all saw the hit, I'm sure the league will review it. I'm not allowed to make any comment," Habs coach Michel Therrien said.
May 3 - 9:25 AM

Lars Eller was taken off the ice on a stretcher after taking a big hit from Ottawa's Eric Gryba.

Eller was caught with his head down and Gryba hit him hard. There was a pool of blood on the ice from Eller who eventually was able to sit up. Gryba got five for interference and a game misconduct. The play will obviously be looked at by the NHL but it did not look like a dirty hit. Stay tuned for updates on the health of Eller.
May 2 - 9:43 PM

Lars Eller will enter the postseason on a high note.

He enjoyed an excellent game against Toronto in Saturday's regular season finale by posting one goal, two assists and a team-leading six hits. The three-point effort stretched his point streak to three games to close out the year. Eller has played well between rookies Brendan Gallagher and Alex Galchenyuk down the stretch.
Apr 29 - 11:38 AM

Lars Eller potted his seventh goal of the season in Tuesday's loss to New Jersey.

He has tallied 25 points in 44 games for the Canadiens this season, which is close to his previous high of 28 points that he set last year.
Apr 24 - 10:32 AM

Lars Eller and David Desharnais both had two assist nights in Montreal's 6-4 loss to Pittsburgh on Wednesday.

Desharnais has 26 points this season while Eller has 24. Andrei Markov, Gabriel Dumont, Brian Gionta and Alex Galchenyuk were the goal scorers for Montreal.

Lars Eller potted both goals for Montreal in a 3-2 loss to Washington on Tuesday night.

He has four points in his last three games, but prior to that he had been very quiet offensively. Eller has six markers and 21 points in 37 matches this season. Rookie Alex Galchenyuk assisted on both of Eller's goals in the contest.
Apr 9 - 10:25 PM

Lars Eller "was phenomenal," according to coach Michel Therrien, in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout win over Ottawa.

He joined Gabriel Dumont and Alex Galchenyuk on a bit of an odd-ball combination and the trio came through with a strong effort. Eller returned to his natural position at center he looked much more comfortable. He finished the game with a goal on seven shots and he supplied the Canadiens with the shootout winner. Eller also won nine of the 16 draws he took.
Mar 14 - 10:08 AM

Lars Eller helped Montreal score the game-winning goal Tuesday by blocking a shot in his own end.

"It starts with the defense," Eller said. "We break up a play, and small things make a difference because it goes from being a 3-on-1 for them to a 3-on-1 for us." Rookie forward Alex Galchenyuk got the game winner with assists going to Eller and Brandon Prust.
Feb 20 - 10:02 AM

Lars Eller might go from healthy scratch to first liner.

Eller spent back-to-back games in the press box earlier this season, but he's been more impressive lately even if his offensive numbers don't reflect it. With the Canadiens, and Erik Cole in particular, struggling lately, Eller might get more responsibilities. He's worth keeping an eye on, although we don't think he's worth picking up in standard leagues yet.
Feb 11 - 10:01 AM

David Desharnais and Rene Bourque each scored twice for Montreal. Brendan Gallagher accounted for Montreal's other goal. Alex Galchenyuk registered his fifth and sixth assists of the season.
