The Canucks have selected center Patrick White with the 25th overall pick in Friday's NHL entry draft.

White had a very successful season in 2006-07 with Tri-City of the USHL scoring 11 goals and registering 36 points in 17 games. He is a rangy pivot with offensive ability who was extremely intense at the NHL Combine in May. White, who was ranked anywhere from 37-60, plays an in-your-face game and protects the puck well. He will play at the University of Minnesota in 2007-08 so his ETA in the NHL will not be until 2009 at the earliest.
