David Perron's demotion to the fourth line didn't last long, as he played most of Tuesday's game with Patrik Berglund and Vladimir Tarasenko.
Coach Ken Hitchcock wasn't pleased with Perron's turnover in Sunday's 5-3 loss to Colorado. The Blues bench boss was impressed with his response though even though he didn't get a point in Tuesday's win over the Avalanche. Apr 24 - 3:55 PM

After their win Tuesday night, the St. Louis Blues have assured themselves of a playoff berth for the second consecutive season but left winger David Perron isn't celebrating all that much.

Perron has been demoted to the Blues' fourth line by coach Ken Hitchcock. Perron’s demotion occurred after Sunday’s sloppy performance in Denver that included a costly turnover in his own end. The Blues last won with more than two goals April 5. Perron entered Tuesday with one goal and five points in the last 19 games. Hockey types, writes Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, refer to Perron as "liking the puck on his stick." As a point guard he would stand accused of being dribble happy. At his best, Perron is an artist who rendered 35 assists as a 21-year-old and 42 points in 57 games last season. However, his flair leads to suggestions that he paints with oils when a minimalist coach believes a straight-line drawing better.

David Perron scored his 10th goal of the season for St. Louis in a 2-1 shootout victory over Phoenix Thursday.

The goal broke a dreadful 16-game drought for Perron, who had been enjoying a solid offensive season before hitting this terrible streak. David Backes and Alex Pietrangelo drew assists on the marker.
Apr 18 - 11:04 PM

David Perron has not found the back of the net in his last 15 games.

There are plenty of Blues slumping this season and Perron is certainly among them. He has nine goals and 23 points in 41 games thus far, but could use a goal to give him some confidence.
Apr 15 - 11:24 AM

Left winger David Perron collected four assists to spark the St. Louis Blues to a 6-3 beating of the Coyotes in Phoenix Thursday night.

Perron, who was a +3 in the game, now has 12 assists on the season, so he picked up a quarter of his assist total Thursday. Patrick Berglund scored two goals for the Blues, his 10th and 11th of the season. Chris Stewart recorded three points for the winners, a goal (his ninth) and two assists (ninth and 10th). Like Perron, Stewart was a +3 in the game. So were defensemen Alex Pietrangelo, who scored a goal (fifth) and added an assist, and Barret Jackman, who posted his fifth assist of the season. Also scoring goals for St. Louis were Scott Nichol, his first of 2013 and Vladimir Sobotka (fourth).
Mar 7 - 11:35 PM

David Perron was the St. Louis Blues' lone goal scorer in a 4-1 loss to the Dallas Stars.

Perron had a decent all-around performance despite his -1 rating. He had two shots on goal, two PIM and even a hit in a respectable multi-category output. The slick forward gives the Blues an extra dimension of creativity when healthy.
Mar 3 - 6:02 PM

David Perron scored twice in the Blues' 5-2 win over Calgary on Friday night.

Perron now has 11 points in 14 games this season and is a staple on the Blues' top unit with T.J. Oshie and David Backes.
Feb 16 - 12:31 AM

David Perron had a great weekend in which he had two goals and three assists.

Perron had only one point in four games heading into the weekend so it looks as if he is at 100 percent heading into a two-game week. He is playing alongside David Backes and T.J. Oshie in what is one of the better lines in the NHL.
Jan 28 - 11:25 AM

David Perron registered a pair of assists in the Blues' 5-4 overtime win over Minnesota Sunday.

Perron has now totalled six points in as many games this season, proving that all he needed was a stretch of good health to demonstrate how effective he can truly be. Vladimir Sobotka, Patrik Berglund, Barret Jackman, Wade Redden and Chris Stewart all beat goaltender Niklas Backstrom in the win.

David Perron enjoyed a three-point game as the Blues defeated the Stars 4-3 on Saturday night.

Perron scored twice and assisted once to give him four points on the season. As long as he stays healthy, the 24-year-old could be a great play for fantasy owners; he had 42 points in 57 games last season. Wade Redden and Chris Stewart had the other markers.
Jan 26 - 10:40 PM

David Perron was surprised at how well he played last season after missing 97 games with a concussion.

Perron was out for 13 months after suffering a concussion when hit by Joe Thornton in November 2010 and thought he would need a while to start playing well. "Actually it’s funny," Perron said. "When I met with doctors throughout my recovery, there were actually a few who said, 'You'll be surprised when you come back because you might be better than you think you would be because of the time off. Having a long time off, obviously, is not what you want. But your body has never had this much time to recuperate. That will be a positive that comes out of it.' And they were right. I was gladly surprised in that I played a little better than I thought I might last year." Look for Perron to pick up where he left off last season when he had 21 goals and 42 points in 57 games.
Jan 15 - 10:47 AM

His extension will garner him a total of $15.25 million over the term of the deal. Perron will make $3 million in 2012-13, $3.5 million in 2013-14, $4.25 million in 2014-15 and $4.5 million in 2015-16. He registered 21 goals and 42 points in 57 games last season after returning from a lengthy absence due to a concussion.

David Perron is slated for restricted free agency in July.

The Blues want to make sure he is completely healthy before getting him locked up to a new deal, presumably a multi-year contract. He appeared in 10 games in 2010-11 because of a concussion and returned to action last December. Perron posted 21 goals and 21 assists in 57 games, while earning $2.15 million.

David Perron scored the series game winner after coach Ken Hitchcock switched lines in the third period.

Perron was switched with David Backes and lined up with Patrik Berglund and T.J. Oshie while Backes was with Alexander Steen and Andy McDonald. The switch came from assistant coach Scott Mellanby. "Thank God, he suggested it on the bench to me," Hitchcock said. "He said, ‘I think it’s time to flip the centers again ... we need a different energy going.’ And it worked. That’s the second time it worked in this series. Flipping the centers gave them new focus, new energy. We practice that way and the guys were ready for it." The Blue are off to the second round of the playoffs which should start late next week.
Sun, Apr 22, 2012 09:22:00 AM

David Perron concluded the regular season on a roll with nine goals in his last 14 games.

He found the back of the net five times in his past six contests to establish a new personal best of 21 goals on the year. In 57 appearances, Perron had 42 points and a healthier 2012-13 campaign should help him score in the 60-point range. The Blues will be seeking more of the same from him when their first-round playoff series against San Jose begins on Thursday.
