Brendan Smith will draw back into the Rangers' lineup on Friday.

Smith had spent the last two games serving as a healthy scratch. That's far from ideal given that this is the first season of a four-year, $17.4 million contract. "I see him (among) our top defensemen, but he has to play accordingly and I feel that there’s definitely room for improvement in his case," Alain Vigneault said. "At the end of the day, I’m sure he knows that." Now that Smith's back in the lineup, he's projected to play alongside Brady Skjei.
