Anton Khudobin turned away 33-34 shots the New York Ranger sent his way, but let up the only goal in the shootout to Rick Nash.
Khudobin was stellar from start to finish, he stopped all five shots the Rangers sent his way on the powerplay, and even made a few highlight-reel saves. He got beat just twice, the first on a flukey double-deflection and later on Rick Nash's slick double-deke shootout attempt. If Khudobin stays strong, he could, or perhaps should, overthrow Cam Ward..eventually. Oct 16 - 11:03 PM

Anton Khudobin was the first goalie off the ice Thursday, so he's probable to start for the Hurricanes versus the New York Rangers.

He allowed four goals on 31 shots in a 4-3 loss to the Islanders last Saturday. Cam Ward has struggled in two starts this season, which leaves the door open for Khudobin to get more playing time.
Oct 16 - 12:19 PM

Anton Khudobin was 27 for 31 in saves on Saturday night in the Hurricanes’ 4-3 loss to the Islanders.

Not really the way he wanted to start the season as he attempts to carve a full-time role with Cam Ward around again. Ward gave up five goals on 26 shots in the first game of the season, also a loss. Khudobin is the better goalie, but it might take time for Carolina to allow him to be the top guy between the pipes. Ward has $12.6 million over two years left on his contract.
Oct 11 - 11:14 PM

Carolina goalie Anton Khudobin stopped all nine shots he faced Tuesday as he played the first half of the Hurricanes' preseason matchup with Buffalo.

Khudobin was excellent last season and stands a good chance of usurping Cam Ward for the starter's gig this year. Drew MacIntyre entered Tuesday's contest and allowed two goals on 12 shots in the losing effort.
Sep 23 - 9:39 PM

Anton Khudobin will get the start in net against Columbus.

Khudobin is in a goaltending battle for the number one job with Cam Ward and while a lot cannot be read into this situation, especially in the early going, Khudobin may have the inside track, especially after his 2013-14 season where he was 19-14-1 with a .926 save percentage and a 2.30 GAA. Ward spent most of last season on the sidelines, playing only 30 games with a 3.06 GAA and a poor .898 save percentage.
Sep 20 - 7:55 AM

Anton Khudobin doesn't feel like he's earned Carolina's number one goalie job yet.

He wants to compete with Cam Ward at training camp to get the nod on opening night. Khudobin would've been the team's starter had Ward been traded, but he's still glad that didn't happen. "He knows what kind of relationship we have," Khudobin said. "I'm happy we are still both on the same team. We had a good relationship last year and we were partners. We were pushing each other, and that's most important."
Sep 11 - 5:00 PM

Carolina Hurricanes coach Bill Peters is looking for his number one netminder to play 60 games this season.

The duo of Anton Khudobin and Cam Ward go into training camp with no clear number one goaltender at this time. Ward has been the top goalie in Carolina since winning the Stanley Cup in 2006 but has been injury-prone in the last few years while Khudobin has had a fine last two seasons, one with the Bruins and last season with the Hurricanes where he was 19-14-1 with a .926 save percentage to go with a 2.30 GAA. The Hurricanes play seven pre-season games and start the season on October 10. It should be interesting and we think that Khudobin holds a slight edge heading into camp.
Sep 6 - 7:28 AM

Anton Khudobin feels his performance during the 2013-14 campaign earned him Carolina's starting job and Cam Ward's injury wasn't the deciding factor.

"It's hard to say what was more important, if Ward's injury or my game. But probably my game, because even if Ward wouldn't get injured and I wouldn't play that way, they wouldn't play me that often," he said. "So, maybe it was all this put together. I was injured myself earlier, and some other guys stepped up and played well. Maybe those times I was unlucky. But this time it was the other way around. Injuries never are a good situation for any player, but all went that way." Khudobin outplayed Ward last season and the two of them are slated to compete for starts again this year.
Aug 12 - 9:11 PM

Thanks to the Carolina Hurricanes' 6-5 (SO) win against the Philadelphia Flyers, Anton Khudobin notched his 19th win of the season.

Injuries and commitments to Cam Ward limited Khudobin to 36 games played, but he showed why he might be "the guy" in Carolina going forward, as he improved his record to 19-14-1 with a strong .926 save percentage and 2.30 GAA on the season.
Apr 13 - 7:41 PM

Anton Khudobin will play between the pipes on Sunday.

Khudobin will try to snap his two game losing streak. Although this has been a disappointing season for Carolina, he's been great with a 2.23 GAA and .927 save percentage in 35 games.
Apr 13 - 2:45 PM

Anton Khudobin suffered a nightmarish performance in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Capitals.

Khudobin has been a breath of fresh air for the struggling Hurricanes this year, but he didn't have it on this night, allowing five goals on 21 shots in the defeat. His record falls to 18-14-1 while his GAA is 2.19 and his save percentage is .927.
Apr 10 - 10:02 PM

Anton Khudobin will be in goal for Carolina for Thursday's game versus Washington.

He has been excellent for he Hurricanes this season, while sporting a .931 save percentage (2nd in the league) and a 2.14 goals-against average (7th in the league). "What we really like him, other than the results, is if you watch him in practice he's our hardest-working guy," coach Kirk Muller said. "He challenges players every day to score on him. He spends extra time on the ice. Because of that work ethic that's a big reason he has had the success this year."
Apr 10 - 1:54 PM

Anton Khudobin flicked away 20 shots in Carolina's 3-1 loss to the Devils on Saturday night.

Khudobin had helped the Hurricanes earn at least a point in four-straight contests. Despite the loss, he's on a six-game run of posting plus.-900 save percentages. Khudobin has a 2.14 goals-against average and .931 save percentage this season.
Apr 5 - 10:01 PM

Anton Khudobin made 33 saves in Carolina's 4-1 win over the Stars on Thursday night.

Khudobin has been one of the few bright spots in a disappointing season for the Hurricanes. He's clearly done his part this season to enter the 2014-15 campaign as the top netminder. He has helped the Hurricanes earn at least a point in four straight games. He has a 2.15 goals-against average and .931 save percentage this season.
Apr 3 - 9:54 PM

Anton Khudobin will probably get the nod for Carolina on Thursday night.

He was in the starting goaltender's crease during the morning skate, so it's likely that he'll face Dallas. Cam Ward played well in Monday's shootout loss to Ottawa, but Khodubin was also impressive in Tuesday's 4-1 win against Pittsburgh.
