The Anaheim Ducks have sent Anton Khudobin back to the AHL.
The 29-year-old played just nine games with the Ducks in 2015-16. He finished the year with a 3-3-0 record with a 2.69 goals-against-average and a .909 save percentage. There's already rumblings about him going back to Russia next season. Apr 11 - 8:51 PM

Date:

Anton Khudobin made a 71-second relief appearance during Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Kings.

Khudobin replaced John Gibson while the starter received a new blade for his skate. Khudobin made both stops during the match. We suspect this will be the extent of his time on ice through the rest of the season, however.
Apr 8 - 2:01 AM

Anaheim has called up Anton Khudobin.

The Ducks needed another goaltender because Frederik Andersen is out with a concussion. Khudobin has a 2.70 GAA and .908 save percentage in eight contests with Anaheim this season. He also has a 2.40 GAA and .920 save percentage in 30 AHL contests.
Apr 1 - 1:31 PM

Anton Khudobin has been returned to AHL San Diego.

John Gibson has been sidelined with an upper-body injury, but this transaction presumably means that he's now okay. Khudobin didn't end up playing with Anaheim during his brief NHL stint, but he has a 2.70 GAA and .909 save percentage in eight games with the club from his previous time with the Ducks.
Feb 17 - 5:06 PM

In the wake of John Gibson's injury, Anton Khudobin has been summoned up to the bigs by Anaheim.

Still no word yet on the type or extent of Gibson's ailment. Khudobin meanwhile has gone 7-6-1 with AHL San Diego with a .906 save percentage and 37 goals against. We would expect Khudobin to back up Frederik Andersen while up with the Ducks.
Feb 14 - 2:33 PM

Confirming an earlier note, Anton Khudobin will be backing up John Gibson as the Ducks play the Kings on Sunday night.

Frederik Andersen has an upper body injury and is not dressing, thus Khudobin's promotion.
Jan 17 - 8:52 PM

With Frederik Andersen questionable for Sunday's match versus LA with an upper body injury, Anton Khudobin was recalled from AHL San Diego.

Well, that's a bit anti-climactic. Andersen isn't likely to dress until he's ready to play again. And Khudobin is unlikely to play until John Gibson falters or gets injured. So even if Jonathan Drouin dangling out east, there's probably nothing to speculate over here.
Jan 17 - 6:17 PM

The Anaheim Ducks have recalled Anton Khudobin from AHL San Diego.

The Ducks do play four times over the next six days, but it's curious as to why they're going to carry three goalies. It'll be interesting to see what, or if, Khudobin's recall is a precursor to. In any event, he went 3-3-0 in eight games with 16 goals against and a .906 save percentage with Anaheim through the end of November. He also posted a 4-4-1 record in nine games with San Diego with 23 goals against and a .911 save percentage, and carries a $2.5M cap hit this season before becoming an UFA.
Jan 17 - 3:56 PM

Anton Khudobin cleared waivers Tuesday and has been assigned to the AHL.

The move hasn't been announced by the Ducks, but Khudobin is listed on the AHL's transaction page and his name is appearing on the roster of the San Diego Gulls.

Anton Khudobin has been placed on waivers by Anaheim.

The move isn't a shocker because John Gibson has played well since being called up from the minors. Khudobin owns a 3-3-0 record with a .908 save percentage and a 2.70 goals-against average this season.

The Anaheim Ducks will have Anton Khudobin and Korbinian Holzer watch the game from the press box on Friday.

Khudobin hasn't played in a game since November 24th against Calgary. He has a 3-3-0 record in eight games to go along with a GAA of 2.70 and a .908 SV%. With Gibson playing well, Khudobin will be spending a lot more nights in the press box.

Anton Khudobin served as a healthy scratch on Sunday.

Frederik Andersen, who missed roughly two weeks due to a disease, served as the backup. The Ducks are now facing a pleasant problem. It was always believed that Khudobin was merely a temporary option for the Ducks so that they could allow John Gibson to hone his game in the minors. However, Gibson was superb during Andersen's absence, posting a 1.47 GAA and .944 save percentage. Unless Gibson begins to struggle in the near future, it would be surprising if the Ducks sent him down now. That would make Khudobin the odd man out and it's not clear what that would mean for him.

Anton Khudobin got the hook early in a start against Calgary on Tuesday.

Khudobin allowed three goals on five shots and was pulled in favor of John Gibson in the first period.
Tue, Nov 24, 2015 10:39:00 PM

Anton Khudobin is expected to get the nod for Anaheim on Tuesday night.

Frederik Andersen is feeling under the weather, so Khudobin is projected to play and John Gibson will back him up.
Tue, Nov 24, 2015 03:35:00 PM

Anton Khudobin stopped all 11 shots he faced in Tuesday's loss to Nashville.

Starter Frederik Andersen was brutal in this game and got the hook after giving up three goals on 10 shots. Khudobin didn't factor in the decision. He has a 3-3-0 record with a 2.43 goals-against-average and a .917 save percentage this season.
