With his eighth of the season in Friday's 2-1 overtime loss to Calgary, Artem Anisimov has surpassed last season's goal total.
It was a beauty of a garbage rebound goal, but they all count just the same. Plus it was on the power play. He now has eight goals, half on special teams, and 14 points in 20 games this season. Nov 20 - 11:54 PM

Coach Joel Quenneville likes what Artem Anisimov has brought to the table this season, especially when he's played on the second line.

"He's very useful: faceoffs, size and he anticipates well both sides of the puck," Quenneville said. "That line, we got away from it a couple of games, and just getting them back together, you can see something connecting between both his wingers. He complements them in a good way." Anisimov has six goals and nine points in 15 games this season, while seeing most of his ice time alongside Patrick Kane and Artemi Panarin.

Nov 6 - 9:33 PM

Artem Anisimov has been an excellent addition to the Blackhawks this season.

He continues to do the little things that teams need and love and has meshed exceptionally well with Patrick Kane and Artemi Panarin on what is arguably the NHL's best second line. Anisimov scored his fourth goal of the season Friday night against Winnipeg and has been instrumental in Kane's hot start (14 points in 11 games) and Panarin's explosion on the NHL stage (10 points in 11 games). If for some reason Anisimov is still available in your hockey pool, we recommend you grab him.

Artem Anisimov has meshed well with Patrick Kane and Artemi Panarin.

"He's got a real good feel that the two guys he's playing with are special guys, as far as play recognition with the puck," coach Joel Quenneville said. "I like his finish around the net. With those two guys, being around the net, there are going to be some rewards there. He's smart, [with] a pretty good feel for the game with and without the puck." Patrick Kane thinks he and Artem Anisimov could become a good combination.

With no clear No. 2 center on the Blackhawks, Anisimov is likely to get a chance to seize the opportunity. It would obviously benefit his value tremendously, as would playing with Kane. "He’s a big, smart, two-way centerman, a left-handed shot," Kane said. "That’s kind of the ideal center for someone like myself. He’s also got the skill, too. He could be a really dangerous fit on our team. So I’m looking forward to the chance of playing with him, if that’s the case." Anisimov had seven goals and 27 points in 52 games last year.
