Mike Weber recorded his first goal of the season in Sunday's loss to Philadelphia.
He has six points in 64 games to go with an abysmal minus-32 rating, which places him in a tie for the worst among NHL defensemen. Weber was a pleasant surprise for the Sabres a year ago, but this season has been a complete disaster for him and for the team as a whole. Apr 7 - 10:23 AM

Mike Weber is listed as questionable for Saturday night's contest against the Islanders.

He injured his foot/ankle in Thursday night's game against the Hurricanes and may not be able to suit up Saturday night.

Mike Weber has impressed Sabre coach Ted Nolan with his competitiveness.

So much so that Nolan made him an assistant captain Friday in place of the injured Henrik Tallinder. "This guy, he competes all the time," Nolan said. That said, Weber has a horrible minus 20 plus/minus rating and has registered only two assists in 29 games. He does chip in the odd penalty minute here and there but despite Weber's rise in stature in Buffalo he is not worth rostering.

Mike Weber (thumb) has been activated off of the injured reserve list.

This move was expected given that Weber has been penciled in to return Tuesday. He has missed 10 straight games with a broken thumb.

Mike Weber is ready to return from his broken thumb on Tuesday night.

He's been sidelined since Oct. 25 because of a blocked shot and he's missed the team's last 10 games. Weber is expected to suit up against St. Louis, so look for the Sabres to make a roster move at some point this afternoon and activate him from injured reserve.

Mike Weber (thumb) is about a week away from returning.

Weber declared himself fit to play earlier this week, but it looks like he was getting ahead of himself. He has no points and 21 penalty minutes in 11 games this season.

Mike Weber (broken thumb) has declared himself fit to play, but he won't suit up on Tuesday.

He has been out of action since Oct. 25 with a broken thumb. Weber might return this weekend when the Sabres play a home-and-home set against Toronto. When he's ready to come off injured reserve, Buffalo will need to open a roster spot for him and Nikita Zadorov may be a candidate to return to the junior ranks.

Mike Weber has a cast on his left thumb and he's projected to be sidelined for a while.

He sustained an "upper-body injury" when he blocked a shot Friday in Florida and coach Ron Rolston anticipates that the ailment will be of the long-term variety. Weber has no points and a minus-12 rating in 11 games, but he has contributed 29 hits and 24 blocked shots.

The Buffalo Sabres announced that defenseman Mike Weber suffered an upper-body injury during Friday's game against the Florida Panthers and won't return.

Weber hasn't been able to generate a goal or an assist in 11 games for Buffalo. He's averaging a little bit more than 17 minutes per night, so this doesn't have a fantasy impact.

Mike Weber will be a healthy scratch Saturday night.

He has an NHL-worst minus-8 rating to start the season, so his benching isn't surprising. Alexander Sulzer will suit up against Chicago in Weber's spot on the blueline.

Mike Weber and Tyler Myers had an eye-opening game Thursday for the wrong reasons.

The two of them had minus-3 ratings in the first period of Buffalo's 4-1 loss against Columbus. They were separated after that and Weber finished the contest with a minus-4 rating. He also picked up seven minutes in penalties, which included a fight versus Nick Foligno.

The Buffalo Sabres signed Mike Weber to a three-year, $5 million contract.

Weber was scheduled for restricted free agency after completing a two-year deal that averaged just under $1 million per year. Weber had one goal and eight points in 42 games last season and received praise from coach Ron Rolston for his leadership during the year.

Buffalo coach Ron Rolston likes the leadership that Mike Weber displayed during the 2013 season.

"Mike Weber is one of those players that made a real big jump this year in terms of what he meant to our hockey team, how he plays the game, just the potential that he has to continue to grow on this team," Rolston said. "It put a player like Mike in more of a leadership role because of what he did and because of the minutes that he had. He was in the lineup every night blocking shots, sacrificing for his teammates. He's put himself in a situation where he can be one of those guys that are in the room and holding guys accountable." He suited up in 42 of the Sabres' 48 games after starting as a healthy scratch and was voted as the "Unsung Hero" by his teammates. Weber won't provide you with many points, but he can chip in PIMs, blocks and hits.

Mike Weber was credited with eight blocked shots in Saturday's win against Montreal.

That's one less than the entire Canadiens' team was given at the end of the contest. Weber has accounted for five points, 48 penalty minutes, 80 hits and 56 blocks in 26 games this season.

Mike Weber made his season debut on Tuesday night.

He was a healthy scratch for the team previous five games. Weber had an eventful showing with one assist, a plus-1 rating and 17 minutes in penalties during his 13:15 of ice time. He was assessed 17 minutes in the sin bin when he stood up for teammate Patrick Kaleta late in the first period after the Buffalo forward was hit from behind by Toronto's Mike Brown.
