Chris Porter scored the lone goal for the St. Louis Blues in a 2-1 loss Friday night.
Porter was in the right place at the right time as a Roman Polak shot deflected off Porter and past Kings goalie Jonathan Quick. Porter had just two goals and eight points in 29 games this season and is more of a depth forward at this point in his career. May 11 - 1:34 AM

Jan 18 - 12:58 PM

Chris Porter has inked a one-year, two-way extension with the St. Louis Blues.

Porter will make $650,000 at the NHL level and $105,000 in the minors. "We're excited that he's back," Blues GM Doug Armstrong said. "Last year, he played here the entire season. He gives us speed, he gives us tenacity and he also gives us some flexibility. His job now ... we have 13 (forwards) that are penciled into the group and we're going to carry 14. So there's going to be excellent competition and that's (counting) healthy players ... you never know what happens in training camp." Armstrong thinks his versatility should help him win a spot with the 2012-13 version of the St. Louis Blues.

Chris Porter, who scored the St. Louis Blues lone goal on Saturday, impressed coach Ken Hitchcock.

"He was great," Hitchcock said of Porter. "He was our best player today. He was by far our best player. He was hungry, wanted the puck. We talked to him about that when I watched him in the (American Hockey League). I told him the puck's got to be part of his game, a much bigger part of his game. He was excellent today." Porter has spent 11 of the Blues' last 14 games in the press box, but he's a good bet to be in the lineup on Tuesday.

Chris Porter scored the Blues' only goal in a 3-1 loss to the Predators Saturday night.

In fact, it was the only point registered by a St. Louis player as the goal was unassisted. It wasn't as if the Blues didn't try to score as they peppered Pekka Rinne with 43 shots. However, the Finnish netminder stymied the Blues all night long. Kevin Shattenkirk took eight shots on his own but could not get one by Rinne.

Wed, Jan 25, 2012 05:04:00 PM

Chris Porter looks to take Vladimir Sobotka's spot on a line with Jason Arnott and Jamie Langenbrunner.

Porter has just one goal and zero assists in 11 games so far this season. Arnott and Langenbrunner's value keeps dropping, so it's tough to say that Porter is particularly relevant himself.

Ken Hitchcock said that Chris Porter might get a chance to play against the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday.

Porter has played in seven games so far in 2011-12, but hasn't registered a point. He just has two penalty minutes and six shots on goal in that time, so he shouldn't be on your radar at this moment.

Chris Porter will start the season in St. Louis.

He looked to be the odd man out once Jason Arnott and Jamie Langenbrunner were signed. However, Porter did enough to earn a roster spot. That said, he has no fantasy value.
