Mikael Renberg scored twice and added an assist to lead Lulea to a 5-4 victory over MoDo in Swedish Elite League action yesterday.

Jaroslav Obsut registered three assists for the winners, while Peter Forsberg and Mattias Weinhandl had two points each for MoDo. Tommy Salo was just awful allowing five goals on just 20 shots and took the loss.

Mikael Renberg signed a three-year deal to play for Lulea of the Swedish Elite League.

The 32-year-old Renberg indicated that he will not play in the NHL again after his three-year stint with the Maple Leafs, during which he registered 112 points and missed 60 games due to various injuries.

Mikael Renberg re-injured his hamstring during practice and may be done for the post-season.

Renberg was close to returning when he suffered another setback with his troublesome hamstring and in all likelihood he will shut it down for the rest of the season. Renberg also mentioned that he still wants to play in the NHL for another 3-4 years, so resting his hamstring may be the best way for him to achieve that goal long-term.

Mikael Renberg remains ready, willing and able to return to action, however, putting Renberg back in the Maple Leaf lineup does not seem to be a priority for coach Pat Quinn, reports the Toronto Star.

Quinn has been getting good mileage out of muckers Clark Wilm and Wade Belak, and the Toronto coach may not be willing to sit them down to create a spot for Renberg, who has temporarily recovered from his chronic hamstring muscle problems.
