The former 15-year NHL veteran now has 38 points in 30 games. At the age of 40 we do not anticipate Straka will return to the NHL.

Martin Straka has not signed with HC Lasselsberger Plzen of the Czech League despite the team's website stating that he has.

Straka is eligible to become an unrestricted NHL free agent on July 1 and his agent Ritch Winter says he has yet to sign with anyone. "Plzen has made an aggressive offer but it's just one of the offers he will be considering," Winter said. Winter also stated that teams in Sweden and Russia were interested as well. The club president for Plzen said on the team's website that Straka agreed to a deal Wednesday night. It looks as if Martin Straka may be through with the NHL.

Martin Straka may return to the Rangers next season if Jaromir Jagr does.

Straka is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer and plans to play one more season, either in the NHL or Europe, before retiring. If Jagr decides to play elsewhere, there will be a significant roster overhaul in Manhattan.

Martin Straka scored a goal and registered an assist in a 5-4 shootout victory Sunday.

Fredrik Sjostrom, Ryan Callahan, and Christian Backman each scored a goal for the Rangers. Brendan Shanahan registered an assist and then scored the game-winning goal in the shootout. Marek Malik registered his sixth and seventh assists of the season.

Martin Straka returned to action on Saturday January 12th playing with Scott Gomez and Jaromir Jagr on the Rangers top line.

Straka missed just two games after being sidelined with a concussion last weekend. He netted his eighth goal of the season in the Rangers 4-1 win over Montreal.

The Rangers initially said that Straka's injury on Saturday was a neck stinger, but revealed on Monday the true extent of the injury. He will miss Tuesday and Thursday's games at the very least. Reserve him if you have not done so already.

Martin Straka played for more then 20 minutes in a 3-2 loss Sunday.

Straka played on Friday after missing a month due to a broken finger. However, he had to leave Friday's game with a sore hamstring. He had 29 goals and 70 points in 77 games last season.
