The Arizona Coyotes have summoned Justin Peters on an emergency basis as backup Louis Domingue has been sidelined with a lower body injury.

The 30-year-old Peters is 0-1 with seven goals against on 70 combined shots through three games already for the Coyotes this season. However he's unlikely to see much action with Mike Smith healthy and in the crease.

Justin Peters will report to AHL Tucson.

Peters has a 3.16 GAA and .900 save percentage in three games with the Coyotes this season. The fact that he's being sent down signals that Mike Smith is ready to return.

Justin Peters allowed four goals on 34 shots in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the New Jersey Devils.

The Coyotes came back from two goals down in the third period to tie the game at three, but Devils forward Travis Zajac scored two late goals to restore New Jersey's lead. Peters has no fantasy value and is only on the roster because Mike Smith suffered an injury last week.
Oct 25 - 10:59 PM

Justin Peters will start for Arizona versus New Jersey on Tuesday.

He was also the first goaltender off the ice at the morning skate. Peters turned aside 23 of the 24 shots he faced in relief against Montreal last Thursday. He hasn't started in the NHL since 2014-15 when he played for the Washington Capitals.
Oct 25 - 12:08 PM

Coach Dave Tippett is happy thus far with the play of goaltender Justin Peters.

Peters was inked by the Coyotes in the off-season as Arizona wanted some depth in the net if Mike Smith or Louis Domingue were injured. Well, Smith is already on the shelf and Peters acquitted himself quite well as he stopped 23 of 24 shots in a mop up role Thursday against Montreal. "Real quality person and quality player," Tippett said. "He knows his role. He came in and did a really good job for us." Peters could get into a game or two as Smith should be out at least another week but the Coyotes will likely stick with the struggling Domingue in the meantime.
Oct 24 - 7:30 AM

Justin Peters has been recalled by the Coyotes on an emergency basis.

Mike Smith is day-to-day with a lower-body injury, so Peters will back up Louis Domingue.
Oct 19 - 3:40 PM

The Arizona Coyotes have waived Justin Peters.

The 30-year-old veteran backup netminder has not seen NHL action since he was battling to be Braden Holtby's understudy in Washinton in 2014-15. Suffice it to say, Peters' fantasy value is limited, even in Arizona.
Oct 9 - 2:26 PM

Adin Hill perfectly defended against 16 shots and Justin Peters gave up one goal on 11 shots in the Arizona Coyotes 2-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks Tuesday night. The win elevated the Coyotes to two victories with one loss in preseason contests.

Hill’s previous action has been limited to the minors. He started 65 games for the WHL Portland Winterhawks before moving to the AHL’s Springfield Falcons for four games last year. With the Falcons, he had one win and three losses. Peters’ most recent NHL stint came with the Washington Capitals in 2014/2015 and while neither are likely to make an regular season contribution with Mike Smith and Louis Domingue tending the net, this is a great opportunity to face some stiffer competition.
Sep 28 - 12:53 AM

Justin Peters has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Arizona Coyotes worth $600K

Peters had a 3.04 GAA and .896 save percentage in 37 AHL contests with Hershey. He's a depth goaltender that's capable of filling in at the NHL level in the event of an injury. Peters will make just $250K while down on the farm.
Jul 1 - 3:32 PM

Goaltender Justin Peters will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

The netminder led the Hershey Bears to the Calder Cup final and played extremely well Saturday despite giving up the overtime goal with less than two seconds to go in the first overtime. Peters made 32 of 33 saves and will give some NHL team nice depth when he signs in the off-season.
Jun 12 - 9:21 AM

Justin Peters has been waived by Washington.

The Capitals also put defensemen Aaron Ness and Ryan Stanton on waivers. Peters was expected to be sent down to the minors because Phillip Grubauer was considered the favorite to start the year as Braden Holtby's understudy.

Justin Peters stopped all 15 shots he faced in Tuesday's 2-1 overtime loss to Boston.

Peters started the game and was perfect when he exited after 29:43 of duty. He was replaced by Philipp Grubauer, who stopped 15 of 17 shots in the game. Either one of these goaltenders could end up being Brayden Holtby's backup this season, but neither will carry any significant fantasy value. Peters had a 3-6-1 record with a 3.25 goals-against-average and a .881 save percentage last season.

Washington Capitals depth goalie Justin Peters has been cleared for "pre-season action."

Peters underwent knee surgery on August 10, leading some to believe that he might not be ready for the 2015-16 season. It doesn't appear as though he'll start off as the No. 2 option in Washington, so he needs to prove that he belongs in the NHL whenever he does get chances. Being healthy would be a key part of that.

Justin Peters had successful surgery on his left knee Monday.

The Capitals expect him to be ready for training camp. Peters had been rehabbing a sore knee over the off-season that wasn't progressing as expected. Phillip Grubauer has the inside track to be Washington's backup goaltender, which could result in Peters going on waivers, with the intention of sending him to the minors, before the start of the 2015-16 campaign.
