Detroit defenseman Jonathan Ericsson produced two assists Saturday to help the Red Wings shock the Lightning with a 4-0 shutout in Tampa Bay.

It was the second time in this Eastern Conference First Round playoff series that Ericsson had two points in a game. He had only 12 assists (and three goals) in 82 games during the regular season. Saturday's win gave the Wings a 3-2 edge in the best-of-seven series against Tampa Bay. Game 6 will take place Monday night in Detroit. Riley Sheahan opened the scoring Saturday with a goal at 19:37 of the first period. It was Sheahan's second goal of the series. Drew Miller made it 2-0 with his first goal of the playoffs at 15:46 of the second period. The Wings scored two more in the third period -- the first a power-play goal by Pavel Datsyuk at 15:37 and then an empty-netter by Danny DeKeyser at 18:22. Datsyuk's goal was his third of the post-season and Dekeyser's was his first. This game was all Detroit.
Apr 25 - 8:56 PM

Jonathan Ericsson contributed a pair of assists in Game 3 against Tampa Bay.

That marks his first multi-point outing of the year. Ericsson, who had three goals and 12 assists in 82 games during the regular season, downplayed the performance by saying: "It wasn't any backdoor open-net passes. Sometimes they come and sometimes they don't. Most of the times, they don't."
Apr 23 - 11:07 AM

Jonathan Ericsson is nursing a lower-body injury, but he's expected to play Tuesday in Game 3.

He didn't take to the ice on Monday for practice and he didn't skate last Friday before Game 2 either. Ericsson has six hits, one shot and an even plus-minus rating, while averaging 20:04 of ice time in two postseason contests.
Apr 21 - 8:50 AM

Jonathan Ericsson only played in two shifts in the third period.

Ericsson was healthy, but Red Wings coach Mike Babcock wasn't happy with his performance. As a result, Ericsson was limited to just 11:30 minutes of ice time. He has three goals and 14 points in 66 contests in 2014-15.
Mar 13 - 12:51 PM

Mar 6 - 4:11 PM

He will be re-evaluated during Friday's morning skate. Ericsson had an assist in 22:29 of ice time during Wednesday's game against the New York Rangers.
Mar 5 - 4:39 PM

Jonathan Ericsson extended his point streak to four games in Saturday's win over the Islanders.

Ericsson isn't known for his offensive touch, but he is having his best season in that respect. The 30-year-old isn't a major point-producer, but he is just two points away from tying his career-high of 15. He is a solid defender for the Wings, but he doesn't have much fantasy value.
Feb 1 - 11:46 AM

Jonathan Ericsson got the only goal for Detroit in its 3-1 loss to the Capitals on Saturday night.

Ericsson beat Braden Holtby when the game was already 3-0, with 12 seconds remaining in the second period. He also had two shots on goal, two hits and two blocked shots. Despite the good night, the goal was his first of the season, and just his eighth point. Tomas Tatar and Gustav Nyquist earned the assists.

Even though he missed practice, Ericsson is expected to play against the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night.

Jonathan Ericsson's finger still isn't 100 percent, but he expects to participate in training camp and be ready for the start of the season.

He had surgery to stabilize a fracture, which he suffered on Mar. 18, and reconnect a partially torn tendon in the middle finger of his left hand. Ericsson doesn't have full motion in his finger yet and he said he still has some discomfort. He missed the last 14 games of the regular season and the playoffs with the injury.
