Mar 5 - 7:09 AM

Kris Russell scored his first goal of the season in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Florida Panthers.

Russell picked the perfect time to score his first goal of the season, as he was able to break the 3-3 tie with less than eight minutes remaining in regulation. He finished the game with one shot on goal and a plus-2 rating in 19:55 of ice time. Russell has seven points in 49 games this season. Oscar Klefbom, Zack Kassian and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins also scored for Edmonton.
Feb 22 - 10:41 PM

Feb 21 - 2:10 PM

Kris Russell (undisclosed) is traveling with the team during their six-game road trip.

He's expected to rejoin the team at some point as they finish the month on the road, but he won't play Saturday against Chicago. Russell hasn't played since Feb. 3rd. He has five helpers with 51 hits and 143 blocks in 47 games this season.
Feb 18 - 5:20 PM

Kris Russell (undisclosed) didn't join Edmonton for Friday's practice.

With that in mind, Russell should be regarded as doubtful for Saturday's game. He last played on Feb. 3.
Feb 11 - 5:57 AM

Kris Russell won't play Sunday in Montreal due to an undisclosed injury.

The defensive-oriented defender has posted five assists along with 51 hits and 143 blocks in 47 games this season. Russell is considered day-to-day for now.
Feb 5 - 12:17 PM

Defenseman Kris Russell is questionable Sunday as he has an undisclosed injury.

Russell left Friday's game in the third period and did not return. The Oilers placed Matt Benning on the injured reserve list due to an injury Friday and recalled two defensemen, Griffin Reinhart and Jordan Osterle in case Russell is unable to go.
Feb 5 - 8:14 AM

Kris Russell is moving past his rough showing on Tuesday.

Russell had a minus-four rating in a 5-2 loss to Minnesota. That dropped him to a neutral rating this season. "I think for myself, it’s watching video and seeing all the mistakes I made and getting better," Russell said. "We have to get better every day and every time we get on the ice. Obviously, (Tuesday) night wasn’t good, but (Wednesday) was a good work day and now we’re going to go into Nashville and we’re going to try to get two points."
Feb 2 - 11:10 AM

Kris Russell ranks third on the Oilers with an average of 21:40 minutes per game.

Russell has gotten in front of 130 shots, but he hasn't been an offensive asset. Through 44 games he has no goals and five assists. There's plenty of defensive defensemen in the league, but at this stage most of them have at least found the back of the net once. In fact, if you just look at blueliners that have no goals with at least 30 games played, Russell is just one of two logging 20-plus minutes with the other being Ottawa's Marc Methot. This is a big change for Russell, who had 34 points in 2014-15.
Jan 28 - 3:56 AM

The Edmonton Oilers have a much better record with Kris Russell in the lineup than without him.

The Oilers are 9-3-1 this season with a healthy Russell and 2-5 when he was out with a lower body injury. He has three assists in 13 games with a plus-six rating so you shouldn't be jumping to put him in your fantasy lineup.

The news for Kris Russell's lower body injury has gotten worse.

The veteran defender is now considered "weeks away". Which will almost certainly keep him out through the month of November at the least. Russell has posted three points and 31 blocks over his first 11 games of the season.
