Darren Helm scored a goal in his return to the Red Wings lineup on Friday night.
Helm came back after missing 28 games with a shoulder injury. His third period-goal gave the Wings a 2-1 lead at the time. "That definitely gave me a little extra boost for the last part of the game," Helm said. "It was kind of the way I expected. I was pretty gassed a lot of the game, but I kind of pushed through it and it got better." As expected, Darren Helm (shoulder) has been moved to long-term injured reserve.

He will miss a minimum of six weeks because of a dislocated shoulder and could be sidelined for up to eight weeks. The Red Wings also called up Tyler Bertuzzi in a corresponding move and Thomas Vanek will be activated this weekend.

The move will free up the salary cap space to call someone up from the minors and activate Thomas Vanek for Sunday. Red Wings GM Ken Holland said the timetable was estimated at six-to-eight weeks for Helm and that no surgery is needed.
