Darren Helm has been serving as the net-front player on Detroit's power play.
"I love it," he said. "Nobody loves to be crosschecked and get hit in front of the net too often, but I love to be out there. OK, I don't love it, but love to be part of that power play and try to do some things to help." He hasn't earned any points on the power play this season, but that could change if his new role continues. Helm has four goals and nine assists in 46 games. Feb 4 - 7:53 AM

Darren Helm snapped his personal 18 game goal drought during Saturday's 4-3 loss to Anaheim.

Now healthy for the second consecutive season, Helm was looking to build off his 15 goal and 33 point season from 2014-15. But with just four goals and 12 points in 44 games thus far, perhaps this is more akin to his actual production level at this stage of his career.

Darren Helm ended up skating with Pavel Datsyuk and Dylan Larkin on Wednesday night versus St. Louis.

He filled in for Tomas Tartar, who was a very late scratch because of an illness. Helm posted four hits and one shot in the Red Wings' 2-1 loss to the Blues.

Darren Helm is on a roll and is thriving on a line alongside Pavel Datsyuk.

Although his full-season stats are nothing special, keep an eye on Helm as he has recorded two two-point games in his last five while playing on a line with Pavel Datsyuk. Helm may be worth a pick up in deeper pools.

Darren Helm potted a pair of goals on Thursday night to help the Wings top division leader Montreal 3-2.

The 28-year-old has slumped for most of the season and has been rather inconsistent with his scoring. You might, however, want to make sure Helm is in your lineup next time Detroit plays on a Thursday. Six of his seven points and all of his three goals have come on Thursday nights this season. The Red Wings' next Thursday night game is Dec. 29 in WInnipeg.

Darren Helm will get a turn with Pavel Datsyuk and Brad Richards on Tuesday night.

There is a chance that Darren Helm (concussion/shoulder) could return to action against Montreal Saturday night.

So says Detroit coach Jeff Blashill. We guess the setback he suffered on Thursday was not serious. If you need Helm for some reason, get ready to activate him.

Darren Helm (concussion/shoulder) might be able to play on Saturday.

Helm has been practicing for several days now, but he might still be rusty given that he's been sidelined since the first day of training camp. If he does play, it might be on the fourth line with Drew Miller and Luke Glendening.
