Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau thinks Jonas Hiller is lacking confidence right now.
"I'll talk to the coaches and people and we'll see what we're doing ...," Boudreau said. "I think [Hiller's] really lacking in confidence, and once the first one went in, he was worried until he regained his composure." He has gone winless in his past three outings (0-2-1) and he's allowed 11 goals during that time. Hiller is slumping at the wrong time, as the playoffs are right around the corner. Apr 7 - 6:08 PM

Goalie Jonas Hiller stopped 24 shots but he and the Anaheim Ducks took a 4-2 loss in Edmonton Sunday night.

After a 14-game win streak from Dec. 6 to Jan. 12, Hiller is 6-9-3. His goals-against average is now 2.48 and his save percentage is .911. This was a costly loss for Anaheim. The Ducks, viewed as Stanley Cup contenders by many NHL followers, wound up splitting their season series with the inferior Oilers, 3-3. The Oilers have finished out of the playoffs for the eighth consecutive season. In their past four games, the Ducks have trailed 4-0 against the Winnipeg Jets, 2-0 against the Oilers, 3-0 against the Predators and 3-1 against Edmonton. The Ducks, competing against San Jose for the top spot in the Pacific Division, now have allowed 15 goals in their past three games. They play the Vancouver Canucks on Monday in the second of a two-game road trip.

Anaheim's Jonas Hiller, returning from a three-game hiatus that coach Bruce Boudreau said he hoped would enhance the goalie's sharpness for the approaching Stanley Cup playoffs, gave up four first-period goals on nine shots in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Nashville Predators.

After a 14-game win streak from Dec. 6 to Jan. 12, Hiller is 6-8-3 since. He was replaced with 2:55 left in the period by the emerging rookie Frederik Andersen, who's gaining serious traction for playoff use with a 19-5 showing this season that included three consecutive wins in Hiller's absence. Andersen entered to cheers, irking some Ducks, but he was suffering from a headache during the second intermission, and Hiller returned to stop all eight shots he faced in the third period. Hiller did not talk to reporters after the game. His Ducks (50-19-8) are clinging to a one-point Pacific Division lead over San Jose, with the Sharks hosting Nashville today. Anaheim Coach Bruce Boudreau said it's "too early" to assess postseason goalie use. "We've got five more [regular season] games," Boudreau said. "Let's see how it suits out, who the opposition is going to be, what the goalies' records are against them. How they're playing going into the playoffs. . ."
