Jonas Hiller allowed five goals on 37 shots in Calgary's big 6-3 loss to Anaheim.
After going up 2-0 31 minutes into the game, Calgary squandered an opportunity to maintain distance between them and Minnesota and LA for the second Wild Card slot. However the blame can't fully be placed on Hiller. Andrew Cogliano's goal to make it 2-1, and Ryan Getzlaf's goal to make it 3-2 were about as fluky as it gets via fortunate bounces one could not recreate. But Kyle Palmieri's goal to make it 4-2 exemplifies Calgary's horrid defense. All in all, Anaheim scored five straight in nearly 20 game minutes. Hopefully for Calgary's sake, this is just a blip on the radar. Hiller falls to 19-17-3 with 94 goals against in 41 games this season. Feb 21 - 1:48 AM

Jonas Hiller will get the start versus the Anaheim Ducks on Friday night.

The Flames come in tied with the Sharks in points with 68, but with two games in hand. Which places them a slot ahead in the playoffs. However the Kings are trailing by just a pair of points with a game in hand on the Flames. Meaning tonight's a very important two points. Hiller for his part is s 19-16-3 with 89 goals against in 40 games this season. He's 1-1-0 with seven goals against in three games against his former club.
Feb 20 - 7:28 PM

Jonas Hiller made 26 saves on 29 shots but took the 3-2 OT loss for Calgary on Wednesday.

Hiller was good enough to win but not good enough to beat a red hot Devan Dubnyk across from him on this night against Minnesota. Karri Ramo has been pretty good of late since coming off the DL and it will be interesting to see if the Flames go back to rotating starts for the hot hand like they did earlier this year. Hiller is 19-16-3 with a 2.39 GAA and .914 save percentage in 40 appearances this season.
Feb 19 - 1:01 AM

Jonas Hiller will get the start in net Wednesday night versus the Minnesota Wild.

Hiller is coming off a 16 save shutout over the Boston Bruins on Monday night and will look for his 20th win of the season. In 39 games this season, Hiller has a 2.38 goals-against-average and .915 save percentage with one shutout. He has fared well in his career versus the Wild, posting a 11-6-1 record, 2.31 GAA, and .918 save percentage in 20 games played.
Feb 18 - 5:19 PM

The Calgary Flames have a league-leading 10 wins when trailing after two periods.

They were down 3-1 to Boston going into the third frame, but the Flames rallied back to win 4-3 in overtime. "It's almost like you go out there and everybody knows we're gonna win," said Jonas Hiller. "It's tough to describe but you go out there as a goalie and (think), 'They're probably gonna score.' I think that confidence does a lot. The way we play, we have everybody going, d-men making it tougher on the other team. You want those extra points. Over the season, it might make the difference between making the playoffs and not making it." Hiller came into the game after Karri Ramo allowed three goals on 11 shots. Hiller stopped all 16 shots he faced to earn the win.

Jonas Hiller turned away all 16 shots sent his way during his 44:08 of relief of Karri Ramo in Monday's 4-2 overtime win over Boston.

Ramo let in a trio of pucks on just 11 shots, and the Flames were down 3-0 just one shift into the second period. But Hiller shut the door, allowing the Flames to mount their comeback. He also was credited with the victory, improving his record to 19-16-2 with 86 goals against in 39 games this season.
Feb 17 - 2:15 AM

Jonas Hiller was left out to dry by his defense in Thursday's big 5-3 loss to LA.

Hiller faced 40 shots, including 19 in the second period, and did not perform well in the 35 he stopped. He was beaten on a clean clapper from the point, a tip-in, a one-timer through the five-hole, and a clean breakaway. He was pulled for the final nine minutes of the game. The loss sets him back to 18-16-2 with 86 goals against through 38 games this season.
Feb 13 - 3:13 AM

Jonas Hiller will get the birthday start against the LA Kings on Thursday night.

Calgary currently owns the second Wild Card slot as they continue to bounce between the Wild Card and a divisional playoff slot with San Jose and Vancouver. Meanwhile, Minnesota, idle Dallas, and LA each trail between four and five points. Making tonight's results very important. Hiller for his part carries a 18-15-2 record with 81 goals against through 37 games thus far.
Feb 12 - 8:30 PM

Feb 10 - 2:17 AM

He is coming off a loss to Pittsburgh where he allowed four goals and 24 shots but he has won three of his last four games. Hiller has a record of 17-15-2 with a 2.38 goals-against-average and a .913 save percentage.
Feb 8 - 2:16 PM

Calgary goalie Jonas Hiller was yanked early in the third period Friday night after giving up four goals to the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Pens won the game 4-0. Hiller was making his sixth consecutive start. He made 20 saves before being replaced by Karri Ramo, who stopped the six shots he faced from Pittsburgh skaters. Hiller still is above .500, with a record of 17-15-2. His goals-against average is 2.38 and he has a .913 save percentage. Hiller had won three consecutive games until meeting Sidney Crosby and the Penguins. Crosby scored twice on Hiller Friday and added an assist.
Feb 7 - 12:14 AM

For the sixth straight game, the Calgary Flames will roll with Jonas Hiller in net as they face the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday.

Hiller is now 17-14-2 with a .915 save percentage on the season. He's won three in a row and four of five while allowing two goals or less in every game in this current run, so we'll see if he can stay hot against the Penguins.
Feb 6 - 8:40 PM

Jonas Hiller made 28 saves on 29 shots to earn a win in the Flames' 3-1 over San Jose on Wednesday.

Hiller was outstanding all night long against the Sharks sharpshooters. He has now rattled off three wins and has run his record to 17-14-2 with a strong 2.31 goals against average and .915 save percentage in 35 appearances. He is a strong start in any fantasy format.
Feb 5 - 1:25 AM

Jonas Hiller will make his fifth straight start Wednesday night against the San Jose Sharks.

Hiller has been hot recently, allowing fewer than two goals in each of his last four starts, winning three of them. Wednesday will be his 31st start of the year and first against the Sharks this season. He's been solid against the Sharks in his career where he's posted a 2.32 goals-against-average and .928 save percentage in 21 appearances.
Feb 4 - 7:34 PM

Calgary goalie Jonas Hiller made only 17 saves but got the win as the Flames scorched the visiting Winnipeg Jets 5-2 Monday night.

Hiller now has three wins in his past four starts, allowing only six goals in that span. His goals-against average is 2.36 and he has a .914 save percentage. Hiller is getting close to a .500 record. He is now 15-14-2. We wouldn't advise you to rush out and obtain Hiller as your fantasy goalie, but if you're hurting in net, he might just be a worthwhile acquisition. Not that you could tell from Monday, as the slumping Jets (four consecutive losses) didn't really test him much.
