Jonas Hiller stopped 26-of-29 shots but the Flames fell 3-2 in his return to Anaheim on Tuesday.
The Ducks jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks to some tough puck luck for Hiller in front of his own net. Still, Hiller kept his team in it for a rally that ultimately came up just short. Hiller has now lost two starts in a row but this could have been expected with match-ups in the Ducks and Blackhawks. He carries a 9-6-1 record to go with a solid 2.49 goals against average and .913 save percentage through 16 appearances. Nov 26 - 2:12 AM

Jonas Hiller is hoping to hand the Calgary Flames their first win at Anaheim's Honda Center in nearly 11 years.

Of course, Hiller is part of the reason the Flames have had so little success in Anaheim as he was serving as the Ducks' goaltender for a significant portion of it. Now he's switched sides and is being given an opportunity to reverse the Flames' fortunes. "I think that's even more motivating — to finally change that," Hiller said. "I don't know how many games it's been or how many years or whatever, but definitely we knew in Anaheim that we had a good record against the Flames there."

Jonas Hiller will get the start Tuesday for the Calgary Flames.

Karri Ramo is getting the start on Saturday and Wednesday with Hiller in between. Hiller has been the busier goalie of the two with a 9-5-1 record to go with a 2.45 GAA and a .914 save percentage. Adjust your lineups accordingly.
Nov 22 - 7:36 AM

Jonas Hiller allowed four goals on 22 shots in Calgary's 4-3 loss to Chicago.

The game was tied at three in the third period, but Hawks' forward Patrick Kane put Chicago ahead for good when he beat Hiller. The Flames' goaltender has now lost back-to-back starts for the first time since his two opening starts of the season. Hiller is 9-5-1 with a 2.45 goals-against-average and a.914 save percentage. Even with this loss, he's given Calgary steady goaltending for the first time in a long time.
Nov 21 - 12:03 AM

Jonas Hiller made 24 saves in a 4-3 shootout win over his old team the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night.

It didn’t start out well for the Flames who fell behind 2-0 to the visitors before exploding for three goals in the third period. Hiller kept his squad in it as the Ducks out-shot the Flames 19-7 through the first two periods before the home side finally got their legs in the third. It had to feel good for Hiller to get the win after not leaving on the best of terms with Anaheim from last season’s post game goalie dramatics in the Duck net. Hiller has been a nice source of good goalie stats for fantasy owners who gambled on the vet late in fantasy drafts. It helps that the Flames look "for real" at this point in the season.
Nov 19 - 1:12 AM

Jonas Hiller isn't hiding the fact that he's excited to play against his old team, the Anaheim Ducks, on Tuesday.

"It's definitely going to be a little more special than a usual game," Hiller added. He left Anaheim after feeling he had lost the trust of Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau. Hiller said he wants to win ever game and while that's obviously true, we imagine there's some part of him that would also like to show Boudreau what he's missing out on.
Nov 18 - 10:23 AM

Jonas Hiller will start tomorrow against his former team, the Anaheim Ducks.

Hiller didn't leave under the best of circumstances as he felt Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau had lost confidence in him. Hiller has been great in 2014-15 though with a 2.30 GAA and .922 save percentage in 13 contests.
Nov 17 - 2:45 PM

Jonas Hiller stopped 20 of 23 shots in Calgary's 5-3 win over Arizona on Thursday.

Hiller wasn’t particularly good tonight, but he did enough to get the win. The 32-year-old has cooled off from his hot start, but he should continue to get the majority of the starts for Calgary. Hiller’s record improves to 8-4-1 this season. He has a 2.30 goals-against-average to go along with a 9.22 save-percentage.
Nov 13 - 11:58 PM

Calgary goalie Jonas Hiller stopped 26 shots in the Flames' net Monday night and continued to perform well despite the team's 4-1 loss to the Hurricanes in Carolina.

Hiller is 7-4-1 on the season with a 2.23 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage. Hiller has been a first-rate acquisition for Calgary and is one of the main reasons that the Flames have improved from the NHL's dregs last season to competitive on most nights this season.
Nov 10 - 10:40 PM

Jonas Hiller stopped all nine of the shots he faced as the Calgary Flames managed a comeback 6-4 win against the Florida Panthers on Saturday.

He should get credit for the win, so anyone who accidentally started Hiller over Karri Ramo gets an unexpected bonus today. Hiller's talent has been no secret, yet it's surprising to see him put together such an impressive record considering Calgary's low expectations heading into 2014-15.
Nov 8 - 5:53 PM

Jonas Hiller allowed four goals on 32 shots in the Flames' 5-2 loss to Tampa Bay on Thursday night.

Hiller's three game winning streak was snapped, but he is still off to an impressive 6-3-1 start with the Flames to go along with a .929 save percentage and 2.16 goals against average.
Nov 6 - 11:01 PM

Jonas Hiller stood tall for the Flames on Tuesday as they enjoyed a 4-3 overtime win over Washington.

Hiller has now notched three straight victories and holds a surprising 6-2-1 record for the upstart Flames after turning away 31 of 34 shots in the win. Considering how late he was likely available in drafts, his 1.96 GAA and .935 save percentage make him one of the very best values early on.
Nov 4 - 11:06 PM

Jonas Hiller stopped 18 of the 20 shots he faced in Sunday’s 6-2 win over Montreal.

Hiller got plenty of run-support tonight as the Flames were all over the Canadiens. The 32-year-old has been extremely good this season. He now has a record of 5-2-1 with a 1.84 goals-against-average and a .938 save-percentage.
Nov 2 - 9:45 PM

Jonas Hiller stopped 28-31 shots the Predators sent his way on Friday night en route to a 4-3 victory.

Hiller was simply on his game as Nashville sent a steady stream of pucks his way all 60 minutes. While Craig Smith's second period tying goal perhaps ought to have been stopped, James Neal's two snipes were goal scorer's goals. Fortunately Hiller's offense was more than Pekka Rinne could handle.
Nov 1 - 12:17 AM

Jonas Hiller will start for Calgary on Friday.

Hiller will be starting in back-to-back games for the first time in 2014-15. That disrupts the Flames' rotation between him and Karri Ramo. "We have two goalies that are capable of winning games for us, so you might see a string where Hills will go three, four games in a row, and then the wind's going to change and Rammer's going to go for a string of games," Hartley said. "We have no set pattern right now. Right now, you play well, you win, you stay. You play bad, you give the net to your partner." Hiller has a 1.63 GAA and .948 save percentage in six games this season.
