The Calgary Flames had by far the worst save percentage in the league at .892.

The next worst was the Carolina Hurricanes, which sat at .902. The good news for the Flames is that they have an opportunity to significantly revamp their goaltending over the summer. Jonas Hiller, Niklas Backstrom, Joni Ortio, and Karri Ramo are all set to become free agents this summer and Ortio is the only one that's a pending RFA. Of course a new goaltender alone won't fix that problem with the Flames, but it has the potential to help significantly.

Jonas Hiller allowed three goals on five shots and got the hook in a 8-3 Flames loss to Anaheim on Wednesday.

Ugly return visit to his old team in Anaheim for Hiller. He lasted less than seven minutes. Injuries and poor play have made it a tough season on the 34 year-old. He has a 3.51 GAA and .879 save percentage in 26 games. Nicklas Backstrom came in relief and allowed five goals on 22 shots in a wacky game.
Mar 31 - 2:12 AM

Jonas Hiller will play between the pipes on Wednesday.

Niklas Backstrom will serve as his backup while Joni Ortio, who will start on Thursday, gets the night off. Hiller has a 3.39 GAA and .883 save percentage in 25 games in 2015-16.
Mar 30 - 5:54 PM

Jonas Hiller will be a healthy scratch in Monday's game against the Coyotes.

The Flames will go with Joni Ortio and Niklas Backstrom on Monday. Jyrki Jokipakka, Dennis Wideman, Johnny Gaudreau and Josh Jooris are being held out because of injury.

Mar 28 - 10:05 PM

Jonas Hiller will be Joni Ortio's backup on Saturday against Chicago.

Hiller has seen just five games since Feb. 19th, with just 22 starts and 25 games to his credit, it's surely his .883 save percentage this season that offers pause.
Mar 26 - 6:58 PM

Veteran goalie Jonas Hiller returned to action Monday night but had a forgettable night as he and the Calgary Flames were beaten 5-2 by the lowly Maple Leafs in Toronto.

Hiller, making his first start in nearly three weeks, didn't do much to improve his numbers, although he stopped 21 of 24 shots. His record is now 9-11-2. His save percentage is only .883 and his goals-against average is a way-too-high 3.39. The Flames are a poor, non-playoff team and this once-formidable goalie is having a tough time with them.
Mar 21 - 11:17 PM

Jonas Hiller will face Toronto on Monday night.

Hiller hasn't played in nearly three weeks, as Joni Ortio took the string of starts. Through 21 starts and 24 games this season, the veteran netminder has posted a 9-10-1 with an .883 save percentage and a 3.41 GAA. Yikes.
Mar 20 - 2:33 PM

"No ifs, ands, or buts," Flames GM Brad Treliving told Eric Francis, he's going to fix Calgary's goaltending woes this summer.

Come July 1st, assuming none of the following are re-signed between now and then, each of Karri Ramo, Niklas Backstrom, and Jonas Hiller will be UFA's. Joni Ortio will be an RFA himself. Meaning the Flames won't have a starting caliber goalie on the roster, but will be minus $11.716M off the cap between the trio of UFA's. The Flames are currently the only team in the League with a sub-.900 save percentage. "We will leave no stone unturned and see where we go," Treliving said. "It's obviously a critical position and we'll cast a wide net." Frederik Andersen, Cam Ward, James Reimer and Darcy Kuemper top the list of potential UFA signees, while Petr Mrazek leads the way in potential offer sheet material as an RFA.
Mar 13 - 8:33 PM

Jonas Hiller allowed five goals on 34 shots in a 6-3 loss to the Sabres on Thursday night.

Hiller has now lost three straight games, allowing 14 goals in that span. He is 9-10-1 this year with a 3.41 goals against average and .881 save percentage.
Mar 3 - 11:54 PM

Jonas Hiller will get the nod for Calgary Thursday night.

Hiller's surrendered at least four goals in five of his last six games. He has a 3.33 GAA and .885 save percentage in 23 contests this season.
Mar 3 - 10:32 AM

Jonas Hiller saved 24 of 28 shots in a 5-3 loss to Philadelphia Monday night.

Hiller has had an opportunity to step up in Karri Ramo's (knee) absence, but he hasn't really taken advantage of it. Instead he's allowed at least four goals in five of his last six starts.
Feb 29 - 10:55 PM

Jonas Hiller will get the nod against Philadelphia on Monday night.

Joni Ortio has started the last three games for the Flames, so this will be Hiller's first game since Feb. 21 when he allowed five goals against Anaheim. He has a 9-8-1 record with a 3.29 goals-against average and an .886 save percentage this season.
Feb 29 - 12:25 PM

Jonas Hiller allowed five goals on 33 shots in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks.

The 34-year-old has just one win in his last five starts. He's given up four goals or more in four of those five contests. Hiller has a 9-8-1 record with a 3.29 goals-against-average and a .886 save percentage this season. He's not worth owning in standard fantasy leagues.
Feb 21 - 10:43 PM

Jonas Hiller will make his fifth straight start on Sunday.

Hiller is coming off a 5-2 win over Vancouver on Friday as he kicked out 26 shots to up his record to 9-7-1. His peripherals are bad as he has a 3.20 GAA to go with a .889 save percentage so you can activate him with some trepidation if you need goaltending help in your pool heading down the stretch.
