Jonas Hiller has one year left on his current contract.
The Flames have him and Joni Ortio under contract for next season, but Karri Ramo is eligible for unrestricted free agency. Hiller and Ramo split time for Calgary last season, but it was Ramo who got to play in the second round of the playoffs against Anaheim. "It was tough because I thought I had a really good series against Vancouver and I never got the chance to play against Anaheim," said Hiller. "But at the same time, it was something similar over the whole year, which wasn't easy to have two guys to help the team, sometimes it was tough because you felt good about your game and then you didn't play for a while." If Ramo leaves then Hiller should get an increase in starts. May 18 - 4:37 PM

Jonas Hiller got the yank just over two minutes into the second period during Calgary's 6-1 loss to Anaheim on Thursday night.

Hiller allowed three goals on 14 shots, but his replacement Kari Ramo didn't fare much better as the Flames were stomped by the Ducks in Game 1. The loss puts Hiller's record at 3-3 so far in the playoffs.
May 1 - 12:59 AM

Jonas Hiller has been confirmed as Calgary's starter for Game 1 against Anaheim.

Hiller was pulled in Game 6 versus Vancouver after he allowed two goals on just three shots. Karri Ramo stopped 17 of 19 shots in relief as the Flames rallied for a 7-4 victory. Hiller played the first seven seasons of his NHL career with the Ducks.
Apr 27 - 3:16 PM

Jonas Hiller will have a chance to play against his old team, the Anaheim Ducks, in the second round of the playoffs.

"Yeah, it's definitely special," Hiller said. "It hasn't really settled in. You kind of look ahead but you don't want to believe it until it’s actually there. Now, it’s like we’re just excited to be in the next round. In the next few days, we'll look at their tendencies and everything. It's definitely going to be special." It's a chance at revenge for Hiller as he left Anaheim after losing the starting gig. He's gone on to have a solid season with Calgary and posted a 2.20 GAA and .931 save percentage in the first round of the playoffs.
Apr 27 - 6:41 AM

Coach Bob Hartley apologized to the team for his pulling of Jonas Hiller on Saturday.

Hiller gave up two goals in the first 7:32 of the game before Karri Ramo got the call as Hiller watched the rest of the game from the bench. "I apologized to Jonas Hiller in front of the whole team," Hartley said. "I didn’t pull him because I felt it was his fault. I just felt that it wasn’t a good start for us and I needed to jump-start. There was water in the fuel." The move eventually paid off in a series clinching 7-4 win over Vancouver.

Apr 26 - 6:55 AM

Jonas Hiller will get the start on Saturday night against the Vancouver Canucks in Game Six.

Hiller has allowed just nine goals through the first five games, which helps explain why he's accumulated four Quality Starts already. In short, the Canucks have yet to figure out a way to beat Hiller consistently through 156 shots thus far and there's no sign of that changing any time soon.
Apr 25 - 6:37 PM

Jonas Hiller went under supported in Thursday's Game Five 2-1 loss to Vancouver, making 41 saves in the effort. Calgary now leads the series 3-2.

Don't look towards Hiller for why the Flames lost. He turned away 33 of 34 shots through the first 40 minutes of play, and stopped all six shots on special teams. Hiller now has four Quality Starts during the series, and looks to be a good bet to stay strong as it progresses.
Apr 24 - 1:38 AM

Jonas Hiller will get the start in Game Five against the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night. Calgary leads the series 3-1.

Hiller has turned away 106 of 113 shots the Canucks have sent his way thus far, helping him post three Quality Starts over the first four games. Hiller has allowed no power play goals, two shorties, and five even strength tallies thus far.
Apr 23 - 7:43 PM

Jonas Hiller turned aside 28-of-29 shots in the Flames 3-1 Game Four win over Vancouver on Tuesday.

The only puck to get past Hiller was a Henrik Sedin pass that deflected off Kris Russell to trickle between his legs. Hiller didn't have to be spectacular but made the saves he needed to in the third period. Hiller has been near lights out since the series has shifted to Calgary where he has made 51 of a possible 54 saves.
Apr 22 - 1:15 AM

Jonas Hiller will get the start in Game Four against the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night.

Hiller has turned away 78 of 84 shots through the first three games of the series, in which the Flames lead 2-1. Believe it or not, he owns a 14-13 record with a .932 save percentage and a 2.27 GAA in 29 career playoff games.
Apr 21 - 5:54 PM

Jonas Hiller made 23 saves on 25 shots in Sunday's 4-2, game three win over Vancouver.

The Flames opened the scoring at the 6:35 mark of the first period and they never trailed after that. The Flames now hold a 2-1 lead in the series with game four being played in Calgary on Tuesday night. Hiller has been one of the bright spots for the Flames in this series. The 33-year-old has allowed just six goals in the first three games against Vancouver. Don't be surprised if this turns out to be a long and grueling series.
Apr 20 - 1:01 AM

Despite a tough go in a Game 2 loss against the Vancouver Canucks, Jonas Hiller's getting the nod for the Calgary Flames in Game 3.

Hiller allowed three goals on 29 shots before leaving Game 2 with about six minutes left. One would assume that Hiller's leash is pretty short with Karri Ramo looming.
Apr 18 - 5:35 PM

Jonas Hiller made 26 saves during Friday's 4-1 loss to Vancouver, tying the series at one.

The fourth goal was an empty-netter. Hiller was good, but wasn't helped out sufficiently by his defense who allowed three quality shots from high-scoring areas through Hiller. He was later pulled with five minutes to go still down 3-0 in favor of Karri Ramo, presumably to help get him a head start on focusing on Sunday's Game Three.

Hiller was solid in Wednesday's 2-1 Game One victory over the Canucks, making 29 saves. He owns a career 11-6-4 record in 22 games versus Vancouver with a .905 save percentage and a 2.96 GAA.
Apr 17 - 5:51 PM

Jonas Hiller made 30 saves in Calgary's 2-1 series opening win over Vancouver on Wednesday night.

Hiller allowed the first goal of the game on a weird deflection in front of his crease but after that he was lights out. He made some crucial saves down stretch of the game to keep the game tied at 1-1 and definitely deserved the first star of the game. The 33 year-old improves his playoff record to 13-12-3 with a splendid 2.11 GAA.
