Alex Goligoski missed practice Monday with an illness.

Coach Dave Tippett thinks that Goligoski will be back at practice Tuesday. The defenseman has yet to score in his first season as a Coyote but does have seven assists in 17 games. Stay tuned.

Coach Dave Tippett loves the game of Alex Goligoski

The Coyotes picked up Goligoski from the Stars who were expected to lose him in free agency and they couldn't be happier with the steadiness of the defenseman. "He makes good plays," Tippett said. "He’s not a guy that is in every highlight reel, but he’s just an efficient player and that’s what you need. That’s why we acquired him. We thought he’s a guy that can really help us. (He) helps out on the offensive side of our game and he's able to move the puck and have the puck more but also be a good defender. He’s a smart, smart player. He’s not a big guy, but he’s a smart player that reads situations very well. So that’s what we expect from him." Goligoski could get 40-45 points this season so he should be in someone's lineup in your pool.
Oct 17 - 6:48 AM

Look for Alex Goligoski to get plenty of power-play ice time with the Coyotes.

He is only behind the amazing Oliver Ekman-Larsson on the Yotes' power-play quarterback depth chart. We expect that Goligoski, at the very least, will anchor Arizona's second unit, and if he isn't shy about switching to the right side, could play alongside Ekman-Larsson on the first unit when the Coyotes play two defensemen at the point. We see Goligoski as a comeback candidate this season.
Oct 8 - 11:53 AM

Alex Goligoski doesn't think the Coyotes are far off from being a strong team.

"The team was kind of at a little bit of a crossroads, so I’ve seen how fast it can happen in similar markets," Goligoski said. "It can happen quick. With the guys that they have there right now and the guys that are coming and the kind of financial freedom that they have that a lot of teams don’t have – there’s so many teams up again the (salary) cap right now – I think they’re in a great position to make some good moves and compete really soon." He signed a five-year, $27.375 million contract with them not long after the Coyotes acquired his negotiating rights from Dallas. Goligoski has recorded over 35 points in each of his last three campaigns.
Jun 23 - 8:25 AM

Alex Goligoski has officially signed with the Arizona Coyotes.

It's a five-year deal, which is in line with what was previously reported. The Coyotes didn't disclose the financial terms, but the earlier reports valued his contract at $27.375 million.
Jun 22 - 11:19 AM

Alex Goligoski has reportedly agreed to a five-year, $27.375 million contract.

In other words Goligoski is getting a $5,475,000 annual cap hit, up from $4.6 million in his previous deal. The fact that he's marginally under $5.5 million is perhaps a reflection of the fact that Oliver Ekman-Larsson is at $5.5 million, so this way he remains the team's highest paid blueliner. Goligoski recorded 42, 36, and 37 points in each of his last three seasons with Dallas. With him eligible to test the unrestricted free agent market this summer, the Stars handed his negotiating rights to the Coyotes for the price of a 2016 fifth round pick.
Jun 22 - 8:09 AM

Alex Goligoski was thoroughly impressed with his visit to Arizona.

His agent, Ben Hankinson, spoke with the Coyotes, but a deal has not been completed yet. Goligoski can become an unrestricted free agent on July 1 if he wants to test the open market, but Arizona has made a positive impression to try to get him signed.
Jun 21 - 5:00 PM

The Coyotes will host Alex Goligoski and his wife on Monday and Tuesday, according to ESPN.com’s Pierre LeBrun.

Arizona traded for his rights on Thursday, and now it hopes to entice the pending unrestricted free agent to stay. Goligoski had five goals and 37 points last season. The 30-year-old is coming off a deal that carried a $4.6 million cap hit. The Coyotes used a fifth-round pick to acquire Goligoski's rights. He'd be a nice fit for the young-and-upcoming team.

Jun 18 - 8:48 PM

The Dallas Stars have sent Alex Goligoski to the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for a 2016 fifth round pick.

Goligoski is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, so what the Coyotes are getting is an exclusive window to negotiate with him. He's coming off of a four-year, $18.4 million deal. He should command more than that in his next contract after logging big minutes with Dallas and recording at least 36 points in each of his last three campaigns.
Jun 16 - 4:37 PM

Alex Goligoski can become an unrestricted free agent in the summer.

Dallas will have plenty of decisions to make on the back end now that they have entered the off-season. In addition to Goligoski, Jason Demers, Kris Russell and Jordie Benn are eligible for unrestricted free agency as well. The Stars could decide to get significantly younger on defense going into the 2016-17 campaign. Goligoski picked up an assist in Game 7 on Wednesday night to give him seven points in 13 playoff games. He had five goals and 37 points in 82 matches during the regular season.
May 12 - 7:48 AM

Alex Goligoski was the sole source of the Stars' offense as they fell in Saturday's Game 5 to St. Louis.

It was Goligoski's second goal of the series, and fourth of the postseason. He's now up to six points in 11 games overall as well.
May 7 - 3:33 PM

Alex Goligoski tallied his third goal of the postseason on Sunday in Game 2 versus St. Louis.

He opened the scoring in the match to give him a four-game point streak. Goligoski has five points in eight playoff matches thanks to his scoring surge.
May 2 - 10:05 AM

Alex Goligoski got the game winner in Game 6 when he scored a fluky goal in the third period.

The goal came at a great time for the Stars after the Wild stormed back in the third with three straight markers. Goligoski put Dallas up 5-3 at the time and the Stars hung on for a 5-4 victory. The blueliner picked up two goals and one assist in six contests during the series.
Apr 25 - 10:15 AM

Alex Goligoski picked up his first goal of the playoffs during Friday's 5-4 overtime loss to Minnesota.

Goligoski's tally came just seconds after Jason Spezza had tied it mid way through the third period, and briefly put the Stars ahead 4-3. The veteran defender now has two points in five games in the postseason.
