Alex Goligoski has been playing through a spider fracture in one of the bones of his foot.
"He'll be OK tonight," coach Glen Gulutzan said Thursday morning. "He's got the same thing that Ray Whitney had early in the year. He's kind of got a little of a spider fracture in his foot there that he's been playing with for the last three or four games. It's just a pain management thing for him, but he'll play tonight." Goligoski didn't participate in Thursday's morning skate, but he's projected to play against Columbus. He has picked up three points in his last two games to give him a total of 27 in 45 matches. Alex Goligoski registered a goal and an assist for the Stars in a 4-3 overtime loss to Los Angeles Sunday.

With 26 points in 44 contests Goligoski is finally delivering the type of production the Stars hoped for when they made him the central piece of a package that saw them send James Neal and Matt Niskanen to the Penguins. Loui Eriksson and Antoine Roussel were the other goal scorers for Dallas in the losing effort.

Alex Goligoski scored a goal in Tuesday's 5-1 win over Los Angeles.

Goligoski has three points in his last four games. He's been doing well this season from an offensive perspective, with 22 points in 38 contests. He also leads the team with a plus-five rating.

Often-criticized Dallas Stars defenseman Alex Goligoski fared pretty well statistically in his team's 5-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday.

Goligoski had an assist, a +1 rating, four SOG and two PIM in 24:11 minutes of ice time. That's about as good as it got for the Stars tonight. He's been a whipping boy because of his struggles and James Neal's strong work in Pittsburgh, but perhaps Goligoski can revamp his career in the future.
Apr 4 - 1:34 AM

Alex Goligoski potted a goal and also registered an assist in the Stars’ 7-4 loss to the Wild Monday night.

Goligoski posted nine goals and 30 points in 71 games last season but tonight was actually his first goal of the season in this shortened campaign. He does however have a very respectable 17 assists in 31 games. However, we don't think he'll do much more than maintain that pace for the remainder of 2013.
Mar 25 - 11:21 PM

Alex Goligoski registered an assist on Thursday.

That gives Goligoski 10 points in 20 games. That's about as good as can be expected out of Goligoski and we don't think he'll do much more than maintain that pace for the remainder of 2013.
Mar 1 - 10:13 AM

Stars defenseman Alex Goligoski thinks he was helped by being a healthy scratch earlier this week.

Goligoski feels watching a game from up in the press box provided a better view of the action and made him realize some of the errors he had been making on the ice. The blue liner, for whom the Stars traded James Neal two seasons ago, also understands he needs to play better than he has of late. "There’s another level to my game that I haven’t gotten to yet," Goligoski said. "I’ve got to keep working out there to find it." Look for a short-term bump in production after the recent wake-up call.
Feb 10 - 10:31 AM

Alex Goligoski responded in his return to the Stars' lineup Friday after being a healthy scratch for the first time in three years.

He contributed two assists and logged 21:31 of ice time to help Dallas post a 3-1 victory against Anaheim. "He was better," coach Glen Gulutzan said. "There were some encouraging signs for him." The Stars bench boss wants Goligoski to shoot more and he was credited with just two shots versus the Ducks. He has recorded no goals on 22 shots this campaign, but has collected five assists in 11 outings.
Feb 9 - 2:09 PM

Alex Goligoski will return to the Dallas Stars' lineup Friday against the Anaheim Ducks.

Goligoski was a healthy scratch Wednesday and coach Glen Gulutzan said he needed to "get back to [his] level." Goligoski has three assists through 10 games, but the Stars expect more due in part to his $4.6 million cap hit. We'll have to see if the night off did Goligoski any good.
Feb 8 - 1:14 PM

Alex Goligoski will be a healthy scratch Wednesday night in Edmonton.

"Alex needs to get back to Alex's level. It's pretty cut and dried," coach Glen Gulutzan said. Goligoski has three assists and a plus-2 rating in 10 games, but the Stars expect more from him. He owns the second highest cap hit on the team this season, at $4.6 million, and agreed that he might be putting too much pressure on himself. "I think it's probably a little of that," he said. "I just have to relax and simplify my game, and just make the smart play."
Feb 6 - 3:13 PM

Alex Goligoski is leading the Dallas Stars with an average of 22:56 minutes of playing time per contest.

Goligoski has three points in eight games this season. He's a guy that's more valuable to his team than he is in fantasy leagues, but he still has plenty of short-term potential. Once Jamie Benn starts scoring goals again after missing training camp and the start of the season as a restricted free agent, the Stars' overall scoring should pick up. That should in turn help Goligoski's offensive output.
Feb 2 - 1:31 PM

Alex Goligoski will probably get a larger role with the Dallas Stars this season.

His new four-year contract extension that averages $4.6 million a season kicks in at the beginning of 2012-13. It makes him the highest-paid blueliner on the team and he will be expected to step up as a result. Goligoski posted nine goals and 30 points in 71 games last season. He averaged a team-leading 3:09 of power-play time per contest, but scored only nine points. The Stars should be better with the man advantage this year with Jaromir Jagr and Ray Whitney in town and Goligoski can produce when he's confident. Look for him to take a positive step back in the right direction in 2012-13 and assume more of a leadership role with the club.

Alex Goligoski scored his eighth goal of the season in a 3-2 loss to the Predators Sunday.

The goal late in the third period cut Nashville's lead to 3-2 and ends a three-game pointless streak for Goligoski. Michael Ryder also tallied for Dallas in the loss.

Alex Goligoski was the only player from either team to score in the Dallas Stars' 1-0 win against the Anaheim Ducks.

Scoring a game-winning goal is an awfully good way to celebrate signing a big contract extension, isn't it? The Stars clearly missed Goligoski in the games he missed this season even if his numbers (six goals and 16 points in 37 contests) are far from spectacular. He does have three points in his last four games, however, so it might be a good time to scoop him up if he's a free agent in your league.

Alex Goligoski has agreed to a four-year/$18.4 million contract extension.

The Stars acquired Goligoski from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for James Neal and Matt Niskanen. Although Neal has broken out since then, the Stars might still end up being very pleased with Goligoski. He has five goals and 15 points in 36 games this season, but if he can stay healthy, he should be a consistent 40-50 point blueliner for the Stars over the course of that contract. Goligoski would have become a restricted free agent this summer.
