Alex Goligoski may be the Stars' de facto number one defenseman, but he played well for the team last season.
He was good alongside Trevor Daley after he was moved off a pairing with Sergei Gonchar. Goligoski led the team in average ice time per game (24:18) and he finished third on the team with 42 points in 81 contests. One area where Dallas and fantasy owners will be looking for improvement from their top blueliner is on the power play. Goligoski produced 15 points on the man advantage despite seeing significant ice time. The arrival of Jason Spezza this season could help that total. Aug 13 - 3:52 PM

Apr 9 - 9:37 AM

Alex Goligoski posted a very impressive stat line in Friday's 7-3 victory over Nashville, contributing four assists, five blocked shots and a plus-five rating.

Goligoski now has 36 points through 72 games this season. Trevor Daley, Ryan Garbutt, Antoine Roussel and Colton Sceviour each had two points for the Stars in the lopsided game. Dallas inched within three points of the Coyotes for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
Mar 28 - 11:32 PM

Alex Goligoski ranks third on the Dallas Stars in scoring with 33 points in 71 games.

The Stars have received plenty of offensive support from star players Tyler Seguin (75) and Jamie Benn (69), but after that there's a significant drop-off in production especially among the forwards. "Our depth of scoring is hurting us," coach Lindy Ruff said. "We've got to find a way to finish our chances."
Mar 27 - 10:56 AM

Alex Goligoski missed practice Saturday as a precaution due to a minor ailment he sustained on Friday.

He is expected to play Sunday against Winnipeg, though. "It was an upper body contusion, outer extremity," coach Lindy Ruff said. "He's played a lot of hockey, and the rest doesn't hurt him at all."
Mar 15 - 5:24 PM

Alex Goligoski has found the back of the net in three straight games.

He notched a goal and an assist in Thursday's blowout win versus Vancouver. Goligoski has been jumping into the play much more often now and he's playing with confidence. He could be in store for a good finish to the season after struggling mightily at the beginning.
Mar 7 - 10:00 AM

Alex Goligoski scored his third goal of the year in Monday's win over Buffalo.

Mar 4 - 9:43 AM

Alex Goligoski has compiled eight assists in his past seven games.

His offensive game is finally picking up after a very slow start, but we'd only consider adding him in deeper leagues. Goligoski has 22 points in 51 games this season.
Jan 27 - 2:17 PM

Alex Goligoski seems to have found his offensive flair after notching another two assists in Dallas’ win over Minnesota Tuesday night.

Jan 21 - 10:53 PM

Stars' coach Lindy Ruff intends to cut Alex Goligoski's ice time.

He is just playing too much and it is affecting his performance. Goligoski has averaged 25:52 in Dallas' last eight games and is minus eight over that time period. "We’re going to have to back off of that," Ruff said of Goligoski's ice time. "I think he emptied his tank for us. He's competed hard, and he's still competing hard, but I think the minutes have gone too high." We would sit Goligoski for now if you have other options on the blueline.
Jan 18 - 12:22 PM

Alex Goligoski is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Blues.

He is battling the flu and it will likely be a game-time decision as to whether he suits up. If you have a decent substitute defenseman you might consider starting him in Goligoski's place.

Defenseman Alex Goligoski was hit from behind by Winnipeg's Anthony Peluso in the second period Saturday and suffered a deep cut near his right eye.

He returned to the game but Stars coach Lindy Ruff wasn't amused. "It was gutsy of (Goligoski) to come back. It cut him open," Ruff said. "Those are the hits you want to get rid of. Let’s be serious, the hit was stupid, it’s something we want to get rid of and there is really no place for it. . .It was a hard-hitting game, there was a lot of emotion in the game. But we don’t have any room for that." Peluso received a game misconduct and could be suspended for the play. "I thought the Peluso hit was a joke, for a guy that plays that amount of time and runs a guy like Goligoski from behind," Ruff said. "What’s he play, three or four minutes a game? Go run one of our bigger guys." Goligoski required 12 stitches to close the wound.

Alex Goligoski had two assists in Dallas' 5-1 win on Saturday.

Goligoski has nine points in 27 games this season. He's typically good for at least 30 points in a season, but he'll have to pick up the pace to reach that mark. His slow start is particularly disappointing given that he's coming off a tremendous showing in the shortened campaign with 27 points in 47 contests.
