Tyler Kennedy was the lone goal scorer for the Penguins in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Senators in Game Three of their second round playoff series Sunday.
The goal was the second of the postseason for Kennedy, who has played in every game of the second round after dressing for only Games 5 and 6 of the first round after being made a healthy scratch for the first four contests. Matt Cooke picked up his first point of the playoffs with an assist on the goal. May 20 - 2:49 AM

May 14 - 7:17 PM

Tyler Kennedy scored in his 2013 playoff debut Thursday night.

He scored the opening goal in Pittsburgh's 4-0 win, so he ended up getting credit for the game winner. Kennedy had been a healthy scratch in the team's first four games of their first-round series against the New York Islanders. He's probably earned himself a spot in the lineup for Game 6 though.
May 10 - 12:01 PM

Tyler Kennedy could play in Game 5 Thursday.

He lined up on the fourth line during the team's game-day skate and indicated that he expects to play for the first time in the series. Kennedy had three goals and three assists in six postseason games with the Penguins last year and in 46 games during the 2013 campaign he had 11 points.
May 9 - 3:36 PM

Tyler Kennedy began the postseason as a healthy scratch.

He sat in favor of rookie Beau Bennett, who scored a power-play goal in his NHL playoff debut. Kennedy will probably draw back into the lineup though if the injuries that James Neal and Jussi Jokinen suffered Wednesday sideline them for any stretch of time.

Tyler Kennedy will take Sidney Crosby's spot between Chris Kunitz and Pascal Dupuis.

"It's a place he's played a lot in his life," coach Dan Bylsma said referring to Kennedy's past days as a center in junior. He has posted just nine points in 35 games this season. Kennedy will get the chance to fill in alongside Kunitz and Dupuis while Crosby is sidelined with a broken jaw.

Tyler Kennedy was back in Pittsburgh's lineup Sunday after being a late scratch for Friday's game because of an illness.

He recorded the game-winning goal in overtime and posted four shots in Pittsburgh's 2-1 win over Philadelphia to extend the team's winning streak to 12 straight games. Kennedy has posted just eight points in 32 games this campaign.
Mar 25 - 11:59 AM

Tyler Kennedy had a goal and an assist in Pittsburgh's 3-0 win against the New York Rangers.

Pascal Dupuis and Beau Bennett each scored a goal for the Penguins. Dustin Jeffrey assisted on two of Pittsburgh's three goals.
Mar 16 - 3:37 PM

Tyler Kennedy didn't practice Wednesday because of an illness.

It is unclear if he will be available to play Thursday night against Toronto. Kennedy struggled mightily in the first half of the 2013 campaign. He has three goals and five points, along with a minus-2 rating, in 27 contests.
Mar 14 - 12:17 PM

Tyler Kennedy will get his shot to play with Evgeni Malkin and James Neal on Friday against Winnipeg.

He saw some time there already during the final two periods against the Maple Leafs on Tuesday and coach Dan Bylsma liked the "jump" that he brought to the table. Kennedy has produced one goal in three games this season, but his fantasy value increases with this promotion from the third unit.
Jan 25 - 8:51 AM

Tyler Kennedy will audition on Pittsburgh's 'top line' with Evgeni Malkin and James Neal.

Coach Dan Bylsma said that Tanner Glass, Matt Cooke and possibly Brandon Sutter would get the opportunity to play with Malkin and Neal as well. Kennedy may have the best shot at sticking on the line because he has more offensive skill than Glass and Cookie and it would allow Sutter to center the third line for depth purposes. Bylsma cautioned that the spot next to Malkin and Neal will be "open and situational," but "it's going to open to somebody claiming [it] and making it permanent, too."

Tyler Kennedy was on Pittsburgh's top line at practice Wednesday morning.

He skated alongside Evgeni Malkin and Chris Kunitz due to James Neal's one-game suspension. Kennedy, who has two goals in three games against the Flyers in the series, had been playing on the Penguins' third line prior to the promotion.

Tyler Kennedy snapped a 17-game goalless slump with two tallies in Pittsburgh's win over Winnipeg on Tuesday night.

He has generated six points in four games since being placed on the same line as Sidney Crosby and he has value as a possible waiver wire pickup as long as he retains that position.

Tyler Kennedy returned to action from his high ankle sprain on Monday night.

He logged 14:20 of ice time and recorded three shots in Pittsburgh's 2-1 win over Phoenix. Kennedy had been out of action since Feb. 5 with the ailment, but it's safe to activate him now if you normally would.

Tyler Kennedy (high ankle sprain) is probable for Monday's game.

Kennedy suffered the injury on Feb. 5 and hasn't played since. He has six goals and 16 assists in 42 games this season. He's projected to skate alongside Matt Cooke and Joe Vitale if the Penguins decide that he's ready to return.
