Jared Boll is healthy again after an injury-plagued 2013-14 campaign.
He required surgery on his ankle and it cost him 45 games. The Jackets don't need to rely on Boll's toughness as much as they have in the past anymore, but he'll still rack up plenty of penalty minutes when he's in the lineup. Sep 22 - 5:22 PM

Date:

Jared Boll will draw back into the Blue Jackets' lineup on Monday.

He will be making his first appearance since Game 1 in the place of injured forward R.J. Umberger. He will play with Derek MacKenzie and Mark Letestu on the fourth line.
Apr 28 - 4:28 PM

Jared Boll will be a healthy scratch Saturday night in Game 2 against Pittsburgh.

It was originally speculated that Corey Tropp would be the odd man out with R.J. Umberger ready to return, but it will be Boll instead.
Apr 19 - 3:03 PM

Jared Boll fought the Islanders' Matt Carkner midway through the third period of Columbus' 4-0 victory on Sunday.

Boll and Carkner were both handed misconducts in addition to five-minute majors. Boll now has 1,023 career penalty minutes, which is just two minutes shy of the Blue Jackets' franchise record.
Apr 7 - 9:32 AM

Jared Boll (ankle) will finally return to the Blue Jackets' lineup on Tuesday.

Boll was activated off of the injured reserve list on March 19, but has been listed as a healthy scratch since then. He has a goal and 38 penalty minutes in 21 games this season.
Apr 1 - 9:33 AM

Although Jared Boll (ankle) has been activated off of the injured reserve list, he will probably be a healthy scratch on Thursday.

Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards is happy with how his team has performed lately and he doesn't want to shake up his roster. Every point is critical for the Blue Jackets right now as they are holding onto the second Wild Card spot by the slimmest of margins.
Mar 20 - 8:45 AM

Jared Boll (ankle) has been activated from the injured reserve list.

Boll will return after spending roughly four months on the sidelines. He has a goal in 21 games this season.
Mar 19 - 3:59 PM

It's not clear when Jared Boll (ankle surgery) will be able to return.

"We're really going to have to monitor him," Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards said. "He's missed a substantial amount of time and coming back and playing at this time of the season isn't easy." Boll hasn't played since Nov. 22. He has a goal in 21 contests in 2013-14.
Mar 18 - 10:08 AM

Jared Boll (ankle surgery) still seems to be a ways away from returning to the Columbus lineup.

The Columbus Dispatch's Shawn Mitchell said that while he is traveling with the team, Boll is "still days, if not weeks, away from returning." Boll hasn't played since Nov. 22 and has a goal in 21 games.
Mar 15 - 9:02 AM

Jared Boll (ankle) has been practicing all week and could go on their next road trip starting Wednesday.

Boll underwent surgery to repair a torn ankle tendon in December and is ahead of schedule as he was expected to return in late March or early April. He had a goal and 38 penalty minutes in 21 games before he was injured. He is worth picking up in pools that use penalty minutes as a category.
Mar 3 - 7:25 AM

Jared Boll practiced on Sunday for the first time since undergoing surgery to repair a torn ankle tendon in December.

This is good news for the feisty winger who is expected to return in late March or early April. Boll had a goal and 38 penalty minutes in 21 games before the injury.
Feb 24 - 5:56 AM

Things took a considerable tick upward for Columbus forward Jared Bell Friday, when he skated for the first time since surgery to repair a torn ankle tendon in mid-December.

He has spent part of his rehab on crutches, part of it in a boot and now he's walking comfortably without the aid of either. It's a small step, he acknowledged, as he skated in a Blue Jackets track suit, stick-and-puck style, before calling it a day. For the first time in two months - easily the longest he's ever had to withhold from hockey activities, he said - Boll was back in his element, if only for a short period of time. Boll said if all continues to go well, he's hopeful for a return sometime in late March or early April.

Feb 1 - 11:37 AM

Jared Boll is expected to miss the next three-to-four months with a torn ankle tendon.

"Our initial hope was that Jared would be able to return to the lineup with rest and rehabilitation, but it became apparent over the past few days that surgery was the best course of action," said Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen. "We're disappointed for Jared as he has worked very hard and is an important part of our team, but we expect him to make a full recovery and hopefully return to the lineup later this season." He has a goal and 38 penalty minutes in 21 games in 2013-14. Columbus still has a decent shot of making the playoffs and if they do, then Boll might be healthy in time to be a factor in them, even if he might not return before the end of the regular season.

The Blue Jackets didn’t practice Friday, but the players who have been healthy scratches or are rehabilitating injuries took to the ice for an hour-long skate and curious by his absence was right wing Jared Boll.

Boll has been out since Nov. 22 because of an injured left foot. Boll tried skating last week, but it didn’t go well. "I don’t really know what’s going on with it," he said. "Maybe we’ll know more in the next couple days." Boll said surgery hasn’t been considered yet.

Jared Boll (foot) has been placed on the injured reserve list.

The move is presumably retroactive Nov. 22. Boll has a goal and 38 penalty minutes in 21 games this season.
