Jared Boll and Corey Tropp will be scratched from Saturday's season finale with the New York Islanders
Boll has two more seasons with a cap hit of $1.7M, and with the Blue Jackets not wanting to miss the playoffs again, there's been talk of potentially moving him out to free up space for a scorer. Either way, Boll finishes the season with 109 PIMs and 131 hits over 72 games this season, while Tropp has recorded 76 PIMs and 80 hits over his 61 games. Apr 11 - 6:20 PM

Date:

Jared Boll and Corey Tropp will be scratched from Friday's tilt with the Buffalo Sabres.

If you're in a league that rewards tough guys, then this is a bad time to lose them. Boll has 109 PIMs and 131 hits over 72 games this season, while Tropp has recorded 76 PIMs and 80 hits over 61 games.

Boll will sit out for a third straight game while Tropp will miss his fifth consecutive game as a healthy scratch. Boll has recorded a goal and four assists to go with a whopping 109 penalty minutes in 72 games played. Tropp has a goal and eight points with 76 penalty minutes in 61 games this season.

Apr 8 - 6:49 PM

Jared Boll has completed his three-game suspension.

Boll is expected to be in the lineup for Thursday's game against the New York Islanders. Marko Dano is projected to be a healthy scratch as a result.
Apr 2 - 10:56 AM

Jared Boll has been suspended for three games for an illegal check to the head.

The incident occurred on Tuesday at the 4:02 mark of the second period when Boll delivered a high hit to Anaheim's Patrick Maroon. He didn't receive a penalty on the play, but got into a fight with Ducks defenseman Clayton Stoner shortly afterward. Boll won't be eligible to return until Thursday, April 2 against the Islanders.
Mar 26 - 12:04 PM

Jared Boll is scheduled to have a telephone hearing on Thursday with the NHL's Department of Players Safety.

The league is considering punishing Boll for hitting Patrick Maroon in the head during Tuesday's contest. Maroon didn't leave the game as a result of the hit. The fact that the hearing will be over the phone is relevant because it means that the league won't suspend Boll for more than four games.
Mar 25 - 11:09 AM

Jared Boll (hand) was fine to play on Tuesday.

Boll was questionable after being struck by the puck during Monday's practice. He had a hit in 8:14 minutes of ice time Tuesday night.
Mar 11 - 1:36 AM

Jared Boll left Monday's practice after he was hit by an errant puck.

He ripped the glove off his left hand before leaving the ice. Boll is expected to travel with the Blue Jackets to Carolina for Tuesday's game and the injury he sustained is not believed to be serious. If he gets clearance after his doctor visit Monday afternoon then he could play versus the Hurricanes.
Mar 9 - 4:22 PM

Jared Boll scored his first goal of the season on Friday.

The fourth liner is known more for his penalty minute totals so the goal has to be a pleasant surprise for his fantasy owners. The 28-year-old had seven goals four seasons ago but has not even come close to that since. He has 70 penalty minutes this season in 51 games so he has some value in traditional pools.
Feb 14 - 8:19 AM

Jared Boll (lower body) should be available for Friday's game.

If Boll plays on Friday as expected, then he would have managed to avoid missing any contests due to his lower-body injury. He's projected to play on the fourth line with Corey Tropp and Mark Letestu.
Feb 13 - 10:52 AM

Jared Boll is dealing with a lower-body injury.

Boll is still regarded as probable for Friday's game, so this is just an FYI. He has four assists and 70 penalty minutes in 50 contests in 2014-15.
Feb 12 - 9:08 AM

Forward Jared Boll and defensemen Jordan Leopold and Cody Goloubef are expected to be healthy scratches Wednesday against the Jets.

No surprises here as all three were previous scratches on Monday against the Wild. With Jack Skille now back from a lower body injury, Boll appears to be the odd man out for the Blue Jackets. He had previously played in all 43 of Columbus' games this season, picking up just two assists and no goals to show for. Leopold and Goloubef have combined to score one goal and four assists in 27 games between the two defenseman. Neither have fantasy value.
Jan 21 - 6:03 PM

Jared Boll is projected to be a healthy scratch on Monday.

The Blue Jackets had to make a change to make room for Jack Skille (lower body). With Boll expected to be held out of the contest, it looks like Josh Anderson will play in his third career NHL game.
Jan 19 - 12:43 PM

Jared Boll is leading the Columbus Blue Jackets in penalty minutes this season with 49 minutes.

While the minutes are not unexpected, Boll has only two assists with nary a goal in 33 games with a minus-nine rating. His lack of production in most categories renders his penalty minutes fairly insignificant for poolies.

Jared Boll is healthy again after an injury-plagued 2013-14 campaign.

He required surgery on his ankle and it cost him 45 games. The Jackets don't need to rely on Boll's toughness as much as they have in the past anymore, but he'll still rack up plenty of penalty minutes when he's in the lineup.
