Barring a last minute surprise, Jared Boll will play in his 500th game on Tuesday.

Boll has no points and 18 penalty minutes in 11 contests this season. Those numbers aren't particularly unusual for him as he's never been a significant offensive contributor.
Nov 17 - 9:06 AM

Jared Boll is fine after missing the third period of Saturday's game.

Boll needed to undergo testing after he was poked in the eye during his fight with Winnipeg's Anthony Peluso. Although he's healthy, it still remains to be seen if Boll will be used in Tuesday's contest. If he is, it will likely be as a fourth liner with Gregory Campbell and David Clarkson.
Nov 3 - 9:25 AM

Jared Boll fought Anthony Peluso mid-way through the game in Saturdays' 3-2 loss to Winnipeg.

While Boll was surely just trying to rile up his teammates, he waited through half a period after the goalie swap and still down 3-1. And yet Boll still spent more time in the box than on the ice (4:12). We can't foresee many more minutes for him unfortunately.
Nov 1 - 1:00 AM

Jared Boll will get back into the lineup on Saturday against the Jets.

This will be only Boll's fifth game of the season and he's contributed just eight hits and nine PIMs. Far, far less than what we've become accustomed to from the pugilistic winger.
Oct 31 - 7:01 PM

Jared Boll and Kevin Connauton will be out against the Avalanche on Saturday.

Neither Boll nor Connauton are revered for their ability to help their team win games, thus is no surprise they're still stapled to the bench for the winless Blue Jackets.
Oct 24 - 8:01 PM

Once again, Jared Boll, Kevin Connauton and Rene Bourque will be out against the Blackhawks on Saturday.

Unfortunately, it seems Boll has simply been replaced in the lineup with younger, most offensively gifted talent. The long time tough guy may not be much of an asset any longer in reverse leagues.
Oct 17 - 9:08 PM

Forward Jared Boll and defender Kevin Connauton will be healthy scratches against the Maples Leafs on Friday night.

With the Blue Jackets winless through four games, and in embarrassing fashion, it's no surprise that two players not known for their offensive punch are out of the lineup. To wit, their average ice times combined barely get over the 20-minute mark.

Oct 16 - 6:44 PM

Jared Boll has earned a spot on the Blue Jackets' opening game lineup on Friday.

Boll will be playing in a familiar role as he's projected to play alongside Matt Calvert and Gregory Campbell on the fourth line. He had five points and 109 penalty minutes in 72 games with the Columbus Blue Jackets. While he played with them routinely last season, he wasn't a sure-thing to maintain his fourth-line spot going into 2015-16.
Oct 8 - 3:34 PM

Jared Boll knows he is in a battle to stay relevant.

When Boll started his career in 2007 he was asked to add weight and muscle to help him when he dropped the gloves. Now the game has changed, with less emphasis on fighting, and this summer he worked to lose weight and improve his skating. "It doesn’t matter what role you’re in now, you have to be able to keep up," Boll said. "As soon as you lose that speed and guys start passing you, you’re not going to be able to play much longer."

Jared Boll and Corey Tropp will be scratched from Saturday's season finale with the New York Islanders

Boll has two more seasons with a cap hit of $1.7M, and with the Blue Jackets not wanting to miss the playoffs again, there's been talk of potentially moving him out to free up space for a scorer. Either way, Boll finishes the season with 109 PIMs and 131 hits over 72 games this season, while Tropp has recorded 76 PIMs and 80 hits over his 61 games.
Apr 11 - 6:20 PM

Jared Boll and Corey Tropp will be scratched from Friday's tilt with the Buffalo Sabres.

If you're in a league that rewards tough guys, then this is a bad time to lose them. Boll has 109 PIMs and 131 hits over 72 games this season, while Tropp has recorded 76 PIMs and 80 hits over 61 games.

Apr 10 - 6:07 PM

Forwards Jared Boll and Corey Tropp will watch from the press box Wednesday when the Blue Jackets host the Maple Leafs.

Boll will sit out for a third straight game while Tropp will miss his fifth consecutive game as a healthy scratch. Boll has recorded a goal and four assists to go with a whopping 109 penalty minutes in 72 games played. Tropp has a goal and eight points with 76 penalty minutes in 61 games this season.
Apr 8 - 6:49 PM

Jared Boll has completed his three-game suspension.

Boll is expected to be in the lineup for Thursday's game against the New York Islanders. Marko Dano is projected to be a healthy scratch as a result.
Apr 2 - 10:56 AM

Jared Boll has been suspended for three games for an illegal check to the head.

The incident occurred on Tuesday at the 4:02 mark of the second period when Boll delivered a high hit to Anaheim's Patrick Maroon. He didn't receive a penalty on the play, but got into a fight with Ducks defenseman Clayton Stoner shortly afterward. Boll won't be eligible to return until Thursday, April 2 against the Islanders.
