Jared Boll has signed a two-year, $1.8 million contract with the Anaheim Ducks.
The contract is one-way, which means that Boll will make the same amount even if the Ducks send him to the minors. Boll was previously playing with Columbus on a three-year, $5.1 million deal, but the Blue Jackets bought out the final season of that agreement. Boll had three points and 61 penalty minutes in 30 contests last season. Jul 6 - 4:49 AM

The Columbus Blue Jackets plan on buying out Jared Boll.

To do that, Boll has been placed on waivers. "Over the past 10 years, Jared Boll has been an impact player for the Columbus Blue Jackets on the ice and one of our best ambassadors in the community and for that we are extremely thankful," said Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen. "Everyone here has great respect and affection for Jared and wish him well. This decision was a difficult one, but one that we believe is in the best interest of our club at this time." This will save Columbus about $1.1 million in cap space in 2016-17, but cost them a little over $566K in 2017-18.

Jared Boll will be scratched Friday night against Buffalo.

Through 29 games this season the veteran pugilist has posted three whole points along with 51 hits and 61 PIMs. He still has one season left on his contract at a modest $1.7M, but it'll be interesting to see if he's still on the team when September rolls around.

Jared Boll has been handed a four-game suspension for his hit on the Flyers' Pierre-Edouard Bellemare.

The NHL judged Boll's hit to be both very late and "predatory." Bellemare was able to return to the contest, but Boll is a repeat offender and both of those factors likely played into the length of this suspension. Boll will be able to return on April 2,

Jared Boll will have a phone hearing with the league on Thursday for his hit on Philadelphia's Pierre-Edouard Bellemare.

He was assessed five minutes for interference and a game misconduct on the play. "I didn't intend to hurt (Bellemare)," Boll said. "I was making a play, finishing a check. The first thing I saw was (Flyers defenseman Radko) Gudas passing the puck to (Bellemare), and that's when I engaged the guy. With how fast the game is happening, it's pretty hard to pull out of that hit. It might have been a little late; I understand the interference call. But ... we'll see what happens." Bellemare was able to return later in the period and finished the game, but Boll is a repeat offender.
Mar 23 - 5:37 PM

A hit by Jared Boll on the Flyers' Pierre-Edouard Bellemare early in the second period will be reviewed by the NHL.

The hit happened as the Flyers were breaking out of their own zone when Boll caught Bellemare after he released the puck with his head down, as a result of the hit slammed his body on the ice. Bellemare later return while Boll received a five-minute major and a game misconduct. Head coach John Tortorella was upset with the call and the referees after the game, stating "I don’t think Boller’s was a 5 minute penalty. It’s a 2 minute interference call. That’s a good check. You don’t want to see anybody hurt, but that’s not a head shot. I thought it should have been 2 minutes."

Jared Boll was ejected from Tuesday's game against Philadelphia because he delivered a late hit on Pierre-Edouard Bellemare.

Boll also received a five-minute major for interference on the play. There's a good chance the NHL's Department of Player Safety will take a second look at the hit. Bellemare left the game for a few minutes before returning. You can watch the hit by clicking the link at the bottom of the page.
Mar 23 - 12:33 AM

Jared Boll will tag in for the sickly Nick Foligno for Tuesday's match against Philadelphia.

In 27 games thus far Boll has posted 44 PIMs and 47 hits. He has 14 PIMs and 17 hits over his last 10 games played. So feel free to put the bruising forward in there if you need his type of services.
Mar 22 - 6:50 PM

Jared Boll scored his first goal of the season in a 2-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Sunday.

Boll went 13 months without scoring. He is known more for his fists and penalty minutes than his offensive acumen. Dalton Prout and Gregory Campbell earned the assists on the Blue Jackets' only goal of the game.
Mar 20 - 7:44 PM

Jared Boll will tag in for Alexander Wennberg on Sunday against New Jersey.

Boll has posted 44 PIMs and 48 hits through 26 games this season, and considering who is on the Devils' roster the veteran pugilist could rack up a few points today.
Mar 20 - 4:21 PM

Jared Boll, Rene Bourque, and Justin Falk will each be scratched from Saturday's match with New Jersey.

Boll has posted 44 PIMs and 48 hits through 26 games this season, while Bourque has registered 38 PIMs and 81 hits in 46 games thus far. Unfortunately, that's not enough production to warrant much of a roster spot.

Mar 19 - 6:20 PM

Jared Boll picked up his first point in 48 games Friday.

The streak dates back to last season as this was Boll's first point of the season and it came in his 25th game. The rugged forward has 44 penalty minutes so his fantasy value is in that category. Boll has been a healthy scratch on numerous occasions this season so it's tough to know when to put Boll in your lineup if you need the penalty minutes.
Mar 12 - 7:10 AM

Jared Boll will play in his 22nd game of the season, Friday night against the Oilers.

Boll is no longer the physical value he was earlier on in his career, but he's still posted 35 PIMs and 39 hits this season. The sum totals aren't there, but the rates are if you're in need of a plug.
