He won't play in Sunday's finale against the New York Islanders. D'Agostini picked up five goals and 12 points in 57 games with Pittsburgh and Buffalo this season.

Matt D'Agostini is looking forward to getting a fresh start in Buffalo.

He is looking at an opportunity to come in and prove himself. The Sabres are expected to give him a chance to recapture the form he had when he scored 21 goals and posted 46 points in 82 games with St. Louis in 2010-11. "To get a guy like him, it's fortunate for us and we'll see if we can get his career back going," said interim coach Ted Nolan. "When you get a goal scorer, you've got to put him in position to score some goals. Hopefully, that will help." D'Agostini is slated to play with Steve Ott and Ville Leino in his Buffalo debut against Toronto on Friday night.
