Mar 17 - 5:13 PM

Torrey Mitchell (upper-body) won't practice on Sunday afternoon.

Mitchell suffered the injury in yesterday's game against the New York Islanders. He is considered day-to-day right now. Even when healthy, he is nothing more than a bottom-six forward with no fantasy upside.
Mar 15 - 1:33 PM

Torrey Mitchell suffered an upper-body injury against the Islanders and won’t return to the game.

Mitchell played only 44 seconds before departing, appearing to injure himself on a faceoff. He has 13 points in 56 games this season.
Mar 14 - 8:41 PM

Torrey Mitchell grew up in Greenfield Park, Quebec cheering for the Canadiens, so he's very excited to play for them.

"It's an incredible feeling. I'm excited. My family is excited. They're all excited I'm coming home to play for the Canadiens," said Mitchell. "It's a dream come true. In a span of 10 minutes, I went from the 30th-place team to a team that has a chance to win a Stanley Cup. I hope that I can take advantage of this opportunity." He's unlikely to contribute much offensively in Montreal, but he's responsible defensively and views himself as a "character" player.
Mar 4 - 11:19 AM

Torrey Mitchell has been acquired from Montreal for prospect Jack Nevins and a seven-round draft choice in 2016.

Mitchell can kill penalties and he can play center or the wing. He has posted six goals and 13 points in 51 games with the Buffalo Sabres this campaign.
Mar 2 - 3:00 PM

Torrey Mitchell notched two goals, including the game winner for the Sabres on Thursday night in a 6-3 victory over the Canucks.

Mitchell now has five goals and seven assists through 50 games this season. The 30-year-old veteran has four points in his past five games, but it's unlikely he can maintain fantasy-valuable numbers for long.
Feb 26 - 9:55 PM

Torrey Mitchell had an assist and three shots in a 3-2 shootout win over Philadelphia on Thursday night.

The helper snapped a six-game scoreless slump and it marked the 100th point of his NHL career. Mitchell has produced just nine points in 46 appearances this year.
Feb 20 - 10:23 AM

Torrey Mitchell knows he could be traded before the deadline on March 2.

"I'd be lying if I said it hasn't crossed my mind whether I'll be here after the trade deadline or not," Mitchell said. "It doesn't eat away at me that's for sure. I've been through it before. ... Whatever happens, happens. Obviously I'd like to be a Buffalo Sabre. I enjoy my teammates and I enjoy Buffalo." He's an energy player who can kill penalties and he can become an unrestricted free agent in the summer.
Feb 19 - 10:26 AM

Buffalo coach Ted Nolan scrambled all of his forward lines in Friday's practice.

Well why wouldn't he? The Sabres can't score and they haven't won in nine games. Torrey Mitchell will get the chance to play with arguably the team's top two offensive talents--Tyler Ennis and Matt Moulson. Other line combinations were as follows: Chris Stewart-Zemgus Girgensons-Brian Flynn, Cody Hodgson-Phil Varone-Drew Stafford and Nicolas Deslauriers-Matt Ellis-Patrick Kaleta. Until the Sabres show any competency at all, we would bench all of the above.
Jan 17 - 9:35 AM

Torrey Mitchell (lower body) has been officially activated off of the injured reserve list.

Mitchell has three goals and six points in 31 contests in 2014-15. He will help fill the void left by Cody McCormick, who is sidelined because of a blood clot.

Jan 13 - 9:22 AM

Torrey Mitchell (lower body) practiced Sunday and he's expected to be back in the lineup on Tuesday.

He has been out of action since Dec. 15 when he blocked a shot by Ottawa's Erik Karlsson. Mitchell has six points in 31 games this campaign and for now he's still listed on Buffalo's injured reserve list.
Jan 12 - 8:55 AM

Torrey Mitchell is nearing a return to action.

Mitchell, who has been out of the Buffalo lineup for three weeks with a lower-body injury, could be activated in time to play Tuesday when the Sabres face off against the Red Wings. The demotions of Mikhail Grigorenko and Phil Varone seem to support a Mitchell return.
