Torrey Mitchell scored a goal in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the New York Rangers.

Mitchell and teammate Shea Weber entered the offensive zone on an odd-man rush before Mitchell buried one-timer by Henrik Lundqvist to tie the game at one. The goal was his first of the postseason. The series now shifts back to Montreal tied at 2-2. Game 5 will be played at the Bell Center on Tuesday night.

Torrey Mitchell will tag in for Andreas Martinsen for Game 3 against the Rangers on Thursday.

Martinsen averaged just over 10 minutes per game through the first two postseason games, posting no points with three shots on net. Mitchell is slated to skate to the right of Dwight King and Steve Ott on the team's fourth line. He picked up 17 points in 78 games during the regular season.

He didn't play in three games because of the flu bug. Mitchell got 13:11 of playing time against his ex-teammates in Buffalo.

He opened the scoring in a 2-1 overtime win for the Canadiens against Vancouver. Mitchell deflected a point shot by Andrei Markov to end his 39-game goal drought. He has chipped in 16 points in 67 contests.

He gave the Canadiens a 2-0 lead against Vancouver in an eventual 3-0 victory. "I believe the second goal was important," said coach Michel Therrien. "The Mitchell line has been our most consistent since the beginning of the year and they came up with another big goal tonight. They play the right way and they compete hard."

Mitchell got off to a hot start last season too, but his numbers eventually came back down to where they should have been. Mitchell is a smart hockey player that plays well in his own end and that's good in the face-off circle, but expect his offensive contributions to be limited this season. He's never scored more than 11 goals in a season.
