Torrey Mitchell potted his team-leading fifth goal of the season on Wednesday night.

He gave the Canadiens a 2-0 lead against Vancouver in an eventual 3-0 victory. "I believe the second goal was important," said coach Michel Therrien. "The Mitchell line has been our most consistent since the beginning of the year and they came up with another big goal tonight. They play the right way and they compete hard."
Nov 3 - 10:15 AM

Torrey Mitchell is currently tied for first on the Canadiens in goals with four.

Mitchell got off to a hot start last season too, but his numbers eventually came back down to where they should have been. Mitchell is a smart hockey player that plays well in his own end and that's good in the face-off circle, but expect his offensive contributions to be limited this season. He's never scored more than 11 goals in a season.

Torrey Mitchell knows how difficult it is to play against new teammate Shea Weber.

The Canadiens acquired Weber from Nashville for P.K. Subban. Most hockey fans feel like the Predators got the better of this deal, but it's safe to say that Mitchell's excited to have Weber on his side now. "He’s a monster," said Mitchell. "I can’t tell you how many times guys came back to the bench and said: ‘This guy’s a beast. Weber got a hold of me.’ He’s just got that presence to him. I’m just happy he’s on my side now. I think it’s no secret his leadership and toughness is going to be a huge thing. I obviously don’t know him well, but just from playing against him you can tell he’s got that presence and leadership and toughness on the ice, and that’s something that we need … everyone needs."

"We were up 3-0 and feeling good about ourselves and we gave up three avoidable goals," Mitchell said. "We jumped out to a quick lead and then fell back on our heels."
