The Minnesota Wild have traded Torrey Mitchell and unspecified draft picks to the Buffalo Sabres for Matt Moulson and Cody McCormick.

Torrey Mitchell recorded his first goal of the season on Sunday after he was promoted to the top line.

He went hard to the net and a shot from Zach Parise caromed off him on a rebound. "Every forward on the team wants to play with those two guys," Mitchell said referring to Parise and Mikko Koivu. "Who knows how long it lasts, but it was fun for a couple periods, that's for sure." Several players have been tried out for the top-line spot this season, so Mitchell's promotion may not last and he hasn't displayed much offensive touch over his career.

Torrey Mitchell left Friday night's game after allegedly being slewfooted by Blues' defenseman Roman Polak.

Torrey Mitchell potted a goal for Minnesota in Chicago Thursday night but it was too little and too late as the Blackhawks won the game and the opening-round playoff series against the Wild.

Mitchell's goal was his only one of the series. Assists went to Kyle Brodziak and Marco Scandella. The Wild obtained high-priced free agents Zach Parise and Ryan Suter in the off-season but still have a long way to go before it can be considered a legitimate Stanley Cup defender. Don't be surprised if Mike Yeo is canned as the Wild's coach as this team didn't come close to its pre-season expectations.
